Yep in the regular forums it is. aD's marketplace allows individuals to sell stuff though - see the this forum and the rules - aD marketplace

OK, read the guide like 5 times, got the drive & software but have a question. Is there a way to copy games that are backed up already?

I tried to put the game in the LG 8163b drive and then opened raw dump and for both games i got an error.

Just wanted to see if there was a way. I have about 10 games i would rather copy than download. Thanks in advance EA

If you want to copy the backups, then just use imgburn to make an ISO of the already made backup, then burn the ISO.
Or try straight copy with imgburn. Just make sure the file size is the same.

I have backed up many games using Raw Dump and Fri-dump. I wish someone would make a program that would make a backup quicker. It takes nearly 3 to 4 hours to make a standard ISO.

Does anybody know the best media to burn wii iso onto. I have just burned 3 different iso onto verbatim DVD-R at x4 speed with imgburn and i keep having the same problem with all 3. I put them into my wii the front page comes up ok but when i press start i just get a blank black screen on all 3 of these. I have not had this problem before with using verbatim and other types but it seems strange how exactly the same thing has happened for 3 different games. could it just be a bad batch of discs? I have also cleaned the lens with wii lens cleaner but still getting the same problem. The other iso's that i have burnt still seem to be working ok.

The Wii is a little different than other consoles. It does not always like the "Best Media"

Myself I use Sony DVD-R, and they work fine in my Wii.
Some people have used the cheapest media and it works fine.

do you have a modchip or are you using the softmod.

yep, for sure... I have a Wiikey 2 , and have installed the HBC, USB-lOader, wiigator gamma backup launcher.

The usb-loader is great, the games don't don't take up so much space and so far they all work great for me.

I only use my own region though. I feel its safer that way.

I got the same thing when I first started, so i changed the speed to 2x and get perfect games everytime now. I use verbatim -R's also. Try that, fixed my problem :)

The contents of this file could become outdated very quickly because the modding scene is exploding right now. I will do my best to keep it updated so if you see the date is really old shoot me an email and I will update it or at least say that nothing really revolutionary has happened in the modding scene. Click below to access the tutorial on backing up your Wii ad Gamecube discs. Remember that to play the backups you will need a modchip! The modchip is rapidly changing and I will be outlining this in my next article which is due sometime later this week.

First step in copying your games for backup purposes is to get the right software and hardware. You will need one of the following DVD drives to copy games(no others will work). I received a pm that some people were having trouble locating the drives. Newegg no longer sell these drives for some reason.
For more information on ordering these drives follow this link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/563020
* LG-8164b
* LG-8163b
* LG-8162b
* LG-8161b

Personally I have the 8164b and have had zero problems. I'm sure the others are fine also.
Once you install this drive into your computer you will need to download a few applications.

*Raw dump 2.0

.net Framework 2.0

* Software to unzip the Raw Dump files.Winrar

Once you download the files above then right-click on the rawdump2.0.rar and select "Extract to rawdump2.0\"
this will make a folder on your desktop called rawdump2.0.

Now insert your Wii or Gamecube game into the LG drive that you have ordered and installed. Then open the rawdump2.0 folder and double click on the rawdump2.0.exe file.

After doing this you will be presented with the following interface. If your wondering what all the buttons are next to me close and minimize buttons it is a program called UltraMon for multiple monitor setups. Just ignore this. I am also running the Zune Windows XP Theme.

The next step is to just click "Start Dump." On my computer this process took just about 2.5 hours. When it is complete you will be greeted with a nice finished message. The file it creates will be in the same directory as the rawdump.exe file. It should be called "Game Name.iso." This ISO is an image of the actual game and is ready to be burned. You can burn this image with many different applications, but I will be providing screenshots for Nero Burning Rom.

This step is very important. You need to check your file and see how many KB large it is. To do this Right-Click on your iso(this is in your rawdump directory) and select properties. It should say,

Nintendo Wii ISO size: 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes).

Nintendo Gamecube ISO size: 1.35 GB (1,459,978,240 bytes)

All Nintendo Wii and Gamecube images will be this exact byte size. If your Wii image is off by any then you have a bad dump and need to try again.

So next step is to open Nero.

The first step once nero opens it to just cancel out of the create new dvd/cd/etc dialog. Once you have exited from this dialog you go to Recorder->Burn Image.

After making it this far you are almost done. When you click burn image you will be asked to locate the image. The image will be located in your Rawdump2.0 folder. For me, this is on the desktop.

Select the game that you have dumped with rawdump and click open. You will then be presented with the below dialog. Make sure to select a relatively slow burn speed at first to attempt to prevent DRE's(Disc Read Errors). These seem to be common among people that do not use high quality dvd's. For a thread dealing with media check here.

I hope this mini-guide helps you. If you have any questions or I said something wrong please post a comment below. Also stay tuned because as soon as my tri-wing driver arrives I will have a detailed modding tutorial using the Cyclowiz modchip.

I have tried at 1x and 2x but it always seems to burn at 4x for me in imgburn.

I have rawdump 2.0. i have tried to dump three of my own original wii games. each time when it gets to 9 minutes 53 left and is up to about the 4.1 gb range it stops and says unable to continue, not enough space on disk.
I have cleared my harddrive and have 30 gb free space. what am i doing wrong. i have also deleted and d/l rawdump three times from different sites to ensure a proper copy.
this has just happened again prior to this post stopping at the same spot again...?
how do i correct it. thankyou.

What operating system are you using? Could be an issue if your still using Windows 98.
Do you have the Netframework 2.0 installed? or higher if you have XP or Vista installed.

I don't know if using Rawdump 2.1 will be any better for you or not, depending what the problem is.

I am using windows xp, and yes i do have netframework 2.0 installed and updated. have quickly looked at rawdump 2.1, is it still experimental or in use and verified software?

That explains your problem...
FAT32 can't handle files over 4GB. YOu need to use NTFS drive.
