Hey i am going to downgrade my FAT PSP with OFFICIAL FIRMWARE 3.90 to 1.50 here is what i am going to do:

1. format my 512MB MEMORY STICK PRO DUO

2. Run the NEWBI EASY INSTALLER on my PC and put the file onto my MEMORY STICK

3. insert the memory stick to psp

4. take apart my FAT PSP BATTERY

5. take out the 5TH PIN

6 put batteryn back together and insert into psp

7. psp should start automaticaly and i will press x

8. firmware will downgrade

9. remove battery and replace it with other battery or charger

10. power up psp AND DONE!

PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS IS CORRECT?

fat batteries in slim will work fine, but never use a slim battery with a fat psp, because apparently it fries something on the motherboard which means your psp is toast

After a lot of messing about, I finally got the guide to work... sort of.

Managed to make the MMS and bought a tool battery from amazon. I have a fat psp with 3.71 OFW. Went through all the processes above and inserted the tool battery. The service mode screen came up and I selected x to install 3.71m33. Everything seemed to work ok and the process said that it had installed successfully.....

Then I selected x to turn off the psp, took out the tool battery and put in my old battery, and switched the psp back on - I now have a psp witha far too bright screen on which I can't see any light details. The screen looks like it has the brightness turned waaaay up and I don't think the 3.71m33 CFW has been installed. Any help???

Press the brightness button, or go for a re-install.

I tried the brightness button with no joy and reinstalled with the same effect - bit worried now as I hope I haven't wrecked my PSP :(

I don't know if it's related, but when I tried to run the despar-whatever it's called that gets installed, it brings up a service screen, then asks me to press x to start. I do that and after a second or 2 it tells me that the 1.50 boot is incorrect or inexistant - sorry if that's not exactly it, but it's something like that. Is the version of TNI that I downloaded from the link on page 1 incorrect or faulty somehow?

Whoops - sorry to double post, but I am so thick!! The flash caused EVERYTHING to reset - including the theme, which set itself to white!

Now running 3.71m33 successfully! woohoo! Thanks for a great guide!

Just came on to see what's happening :)...
If the download link isn't working, just Google it...

And have fun with the guide people :P
Bye.

It should downgrade up to 3.73. I'm not too sure about 3.80-3.90(?) but it should work because the Pandora's Battery downgrades any firmware.

Hi binkie :)

I'm glad to say that I'm back, because my MP4's USB cable fits perfectly into my PSP. So I'm back in the scene now. :)

I've done a little change to the guide, you think it's improved or have I messed it up?
