Bubles,
is there any way you can backup your files, maybe just burn them and then re-read them... because it would be easy to just use windows and format it...
you might want to back everything up anyway..(which i'm sure you have) just incase it goes wrong..

Quote: [quote=svtstang]It is pretty simple why it gives me a migraine....i run into the same lack of reading skills and people wanting something for nothing everywhere. Psp, ps2, xbox, and 360 forums....its always the same thing. You are entitled, as I, to react however you want, but im not a fan of the spoonfeeding mentality.
I am not a fan of that mentality either. I was not implieing that I'd spoonfeed to him/her, I should have been more specific about that. In fact, if I remember right, I didn't even ask too many questions when I first started here. I had found this site through a Google search on how to burn PS2 games and just read posts. I didn't get an account here until a while later, and I think that was when I did the memory card exploit. And some questions I figured out myself and often forgot to reply with a success story lol. I remember when I would stay awake for like 3 to 4 extra hours just trying to figure out why I couldn't get the MC exploit working XD

i didn't think peeps would actually see that...
i figured i could post it a bunch of times at nooob, or just through it in w/ me new sig!!! haha
but yeah.. some people just lose their patience when they have been dealing with the same dumb questions over and over again.
i know for a fact that i havn't been here very long and i already get exasperated.

please use proper grammar and some punctuation, it is hard read as a run on sentence with words that are out of place and wrong.
GOOGLE is a good place to start looking for mod chips

Hi guys,
I just got my swap magic today and found out a trick, though some of yous may have known it. I had been reading forums and they have been saying to burn the image to a disc at minimum speed for best quality, I done that and had problems with the audio of the game, It kept jumping. So these are some things I reccomend you get and use:
-Verbatim 8x DVD-R (i am using that on a slim console)
-Always use DVD Decrypter to rip your game ISO to your computer.
-When burning your homebrew games, burn them using Nero.
-When burning, write the image at the speed of your media.
IE -
If you have 8x discs, burn them at 8x speed. If you have 16x media discs, burn them at a speed of 16x, so and and so forth.I found out that If i didnt do it that way, the sound would jump when I tried to play the game, and got very annoying, much better now. Hope I have helped some of you's, cya!

@ bubbles
well i seem to have better luck burning at 4x or half the media speed
but you should use whatever has worked for you in the past, since we are all using different components there isnt a rule that fully applies to all burns, just make sure the media is good and the source is good, it only takes a small scratch to mess up a successful copy

Yeah, i wouldn't even risk it.
i've made too many coasters that way when it always seems to work at 4x for regular media, or 8X on a 16X TY.
that's just me.... and i hate taking chances...

@bubbles32 & other SM v3.6+ users.
OK, let me set a few things straight. I got schooled by Tokijin on how to burn DVDs & its time to bring back THE FACTS.
Fact #1: Burn as slow as possible.
If your writer & media support 4X, then burn at 4X. Don't try 8X or 16X. Why? Because if your PC decides to hiccup you'll have a permanently jumpy scene in your game forever. What I mean by that is jerky video or a possible bad burn. Bad burn = teh suck.
Fact #2: TY & Verbatim media are the best.
You could use other media, but WTF?! Are you stupid. Drop the extra coin on the best media. I stick with with those two brands, and have been using them for 5-6 yrs. All media burned on those are still good. Several TDK, Maxell & other brands have worn out or skip after 2-3 years. Use good media. It's worth it.
Fact #3: TSRs are not your friend.
When your PC boots, it very likely loads up several TSR (terminate & stay resident programs). These days they are called Windows Services. What you must do is use Ctrl+Alt+Del to end task on unnecessary programs. Almost all programs loaded as Services can be ended this way. On my system, ending task on all unnecessary Services saves 16MB of RAM for use by other apps. I always end task before a burn. Maybe i'll try one without & see if the burn is less than it usually is.
Keep in mind that you are wasting $$$ when you rush to burn something. Burn it slow, use good media, and let your PC work on just the burn. Tokijin would advise you the same. Unless you got hundreds of movies & games to burn, you can spare the extra 10 minutes & a few pennies for good media.

i dont mind spending the extra money on good media. what i do mind is going all the way to the shopping center to get it! i just stick with crappy old TDK 8X DVD-R, and burn at 8X. if my laser does mess up, its only £20 to get a new one, and i know how to install it myself, so who realy cares?

didn't you know that every time you buy crappy/2nd rate media, you encourage these companies to keep making it? If everyone went with TY or Verbatim, the price would (probably) go down a bit more & you'd get the quality of years of playback. Use bad media, and one hairline scratch could kill your disc. I also don't like supporting these monolith corporate devils & like buying from places like supermediastore.com. Search their site for Taiyo Yuden, it's the 2nd link down on the results. Look @that..it's 24cents a disc for the 200 pack. They have specials every so often. Add in free shipping & that's worth buying.
I don't know of the UK equivalent of supermediastore, but find genuine Taiyo Yuden media & buy a 100 or 200 pk. You won't go wrong. Slow burn that baby & ten years from now your disc will still be good as new.
