@Alkohol
Thanx!That's what I am using now, Maxell High Grade DVD+R x8! Great discs, but I paid like $6 for 5 discs @ a local store. I just couldn't buy CMCs again:)! Not after my great money wasting experience @Office Max! I bought a 50 pack of Imations,great price. I bought them while I was wating for my burner to be shipped.You know,drove by, saw a good price, but had NO clue about anything. So far, out of 30, about 20 are in the dumpster.What can I say, it was a money saver!
BestBuy tomorrow!

alkohol,
Are those maxell hitachi's by any chance hub printable or if not do you know if they are available? I'm getting low on verbatim (mcc003) 8x DVD+R hub printables and either want to try some of those maxell's or get some more of my cherished verbs. I don't seem to have as good of luck with the TY's that most of ya'll do. They pause or pixelate occasionally during playback as where the verbs never ever do. Thanks bud.

@Mort81
Yes.... it is the hub printable 8X DVD+R Maxell (High Grade "mij" by Hitachi), their regular non-printable are great as well. Honestly, it is as great as them YUDEN and Verbs, according to my experienced -- these plays flawless on any of my standalone dvd players, especially I love to "book type" them into DVD-ROM.
So far, all of them (my YUDEN000T02, MCC004 & MAXELL002) are living up to their high quality names.

@ mort...
your player could be a tad on the pickey side.. just a thought.
@ alkohol, thanks, i do feel better now, i was going through my stash of blanks, i've got around 39 G05's left, so i will use them in due time, but i am busy running my verbs through. thinking of adding a second burner and a dvd rom, one to rip, one to burn and the other for a spare (my litey).
anywho, i'll keep you posted.. i have a 50$ best buy gift card and getting a 30$ one soon in the mail from rebates from my epson. i may use them to buy the new burner..

@alkohol,
Where did you get those maxell hitachi's? I could check around but naturally I'm lazy. They have got to be DVD+R as I am a dvd-rom man.
@gear79,
Yeah I think my primary set top player is a bit picky but it luvs my verbs.

Hi again,
Well, I returned the crappy TDKs, as nicely advised(thanks Doc, Alkohol!), and I went shopping around. I bought some Sony DVD+R Accucore,8x, Made in Japan and a 50 pack of Verbatim DVD+R 8x Metal Azo.The Verbatims are dated 2004 though.When did they come up with the Azo dye?Should I try them? Do the blank discs also lose quality in time, or only after recording?
Thanx

@cyprusrom
no worries...Verbatim has been using the advanced azo/metal azo (it's the same thing, different names depending on WHERE you are) for some time now...all the MCC coded ones use this particular dye...no, they won't deteriorate over time if u choose to burn them at a later date...i have some Verbs from 2003 that have still yet to be burned, i opened up a pack of 8x DVD+R last week to "test"...SAME results as my 2005 dated newest Verbs 16x MCC004s... :)
also, the MIJ Sony's u got in the 8x DVD+R flavor, those are Taiyo Yuden made..so, u did a good job in getting some GOOD MEDIA, as opposed to that crap TDK calls "media" :)
so, with your MCC003s Verbs and your YUDEN000T02 Sony's, ur on the RiGHT TRACK now for successful burns~ nicely done
docTY~
p.s. do try to "booktype" them if your burner allows it, this will ensure BOTH the Verbs & TYs discs u got for best compatibility in ur stand alones... DVD+R to dvd-rom...works FLAWLESSLY~

Thanx Doc!
Well, I put a Verbatim in the drive and coded as MCC-003, so I guess I'm okay.Maybe should've bought more. I bought them @Sam's Club, if anyone drives by one. $15 for a pack of 50. They also had packs of 100, +/-, and printable ones(I think 39 for a pack of 100). For the Sony, i paid $25 for a pack of 75. They came as two spindles though, a 50 and a 25 together. Should I be worried about the 25 one?
As for the booktyping, something weired is going on, but I am not sure if is the right thread...

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).

Thank you Tok! I did my homework a little bit:)!
I backup with DVDD and Shrink. I have a NEC 3550A. Shrink or DVD Decrypter will only let me booktype with Nero. Some people suggested to download ImgBurn, but still will not allow me to booktype. if I try to change the booktype, TOOLS->DRIVE->CHANGE BOOKTYPE,then choose the Nec tab,it says current setting is DVD+R, as I have a DVD+R in my drive, and it will not let me change to DVD-ROM.
When I check the disc,after I burn iso with Decrypter in Nero Sys.Info(I have Nero on a borrowed laptop from school) , it says dvd type->DVD+R .The same thing is, after I burn any DVD, at the end DVD Decrypter(I use DVD+R blanks for burn) shows the burned disc as DVD+R(in the right hand collum, when the burn is completed, it shows info before and after the burn->DVD+R!).But, the disc plays in players that CANNOT play DVD+R!!! That means the resulting burned disc is DVD-ROM, but how? And why Nero and Decrypter tell me is DVD+R after the burn, and Decrypter says the current booktype is DVD+R and wont let me change before burn?! Bottom line, everything shows me that i am booktyped in +R but the end product is DVD-ROM.How?!!

Well I'm sure Doc and Mort81 could be a little more specific, but Nero Booktypes DVD+R's automatically. Did you click on the book deal in the bottom right hand corner of DVD Decrypter and change the Booktype for to DVD+R and change the current setting to DVD-ROM? If your disc plays in DVD-ROM drives that don't support DVD+R's, then it must be booktyped to DVD-ROM.

I can ,but it doesn't work.I used to have Nero on the computer that i burn with, but not anymore.I have it on the borrowed laptop that i tested the disks with.I only use DVDD and Shrink(VobBlanker and all that nice stuff:)!).But no Nero.I uninstalled Nero a while ago(it was a cracked vers. and giving me problems. Do you think that after I set the booktype to DVD-Rom back when I was using Nero, now Shrink and DVDD are defaulted to DVD-Rom? If so, great!

Truth be told, I have little knowledge of DVD Shrink. I've only used it one (successfully). As far as I know, in DVD Decrypter you have to click the book icon and select your model of burner and what you want to booktype for. It doesn't booktype automatically that I'm aware of. I've successfully booktyped about 4 or 5 discs. I generally use DVD-R's. Before I used DVD Shrink, I would backup my DL disc to Verbatim DVD+R DL media. I simply clicked on the book deal, selected my Burner (OEM BenQ) and booktyped for DVD+R DL. It booktyped them to DVD-ROM no problem.
That's how mine reads:

Okay, I checked one more time, this time using Nero CD-DVD speed. This is the ONLY place it shows me that the burned disk is DVD-ROM!!!Is when I click the Disc info tab, next to disk quality. But,if I click up on top, I click EXTRA->BITSETTING IT SHOWS:
Current Disk Type->DVD+R!
Current Bitsetting->DVD+R!
!!?! Now, if ex Nero setting makes the burned disk come up DVD-ROM and be playable in any stand alone, do you think that installing a fresh DVDD or Shrink will ruin my weired DVD-ROM setting? I really don't want to!
Thanx

It is,1.05. I did not download a Iggy modified one because I don't know much about it, if is safe and stuff like that. I posted the matter in a different thread,but no one gave me any answers(if is safe, if anyone had any problems after flashing with modified firmware,for any brand drive, and stuff like that) When i wanted to download it, a window popped up warning me about how the process was irreversable(is it?!), how it could damage the drive ...blah...blahh...so i didn't do it.
