hey guys. i am having a little problem here... i have triple-checked all of my settings and am getting this same result. i get a crazy green and black "blocky" screen when i try to use cce/dvd-rb to back up my new star wars flicks. the sound is fine (little consolation), but the size is a little smaller than what i would like (about 1/2 gig short). i have looked and looked, but cant find any help on any threads. your expert advice is greatly appreciated.

pleased to hear you got it sorted Wingdings :)
@treyking, how did you rip the files? That sounds like a bad rip. Did the ripped files play OK before you processed them with DVD-RB/CCE or did you process direct with something like AnyDVD?

Sounds like an avisynth problem. When you said that you checked all your settings you forgot to mention what your settings were. I prefer versions of your setup soft and on occassions even hardware. Let's move this question for discussion over to this thread.

ok, here goes. i am using rebuild version 0.62, avisynth 2.5.5, cce basic. i checked the original rip (done with shrink 3.2, uncompressed, and taking out the multiple angles) and it is perfect. i uninstalled everything, the reinstalled them. i re-ripped the movie and everything is pink with random areas of clarity. it looks like the "vertical strips" of the movie are out of order, if that makes sense. below is my config file if anyone needs to see it. thanks again.

let me clarify something. the rip with shrink is perfect, the "finished" product done with cce/dvd-rb is the pink mess i ended up with.

I'm not sure, but I think the problem is with CCE. You could verify this by opening one of the AVS files in the project's DVD2AVI folder (in the Working directory) with a media player. If it looks fine, and I think it will, you should uninstall and reinstall CCE. If that doesn't fix the problem you should download a different version from http://www.cinemacraft.com/.secret2/basic_dl_eng.html
You'll need your serial number and the last 8 characters of your license key to open the page.

vurbal...I've never used Shrink to remove angles before...always Remake. Does the newest release of Shrink do this?

The only way I know of to remove angles with DVD Shrink is to make a Movie Only backup.

I'm wondering if treyking's problem isn't angle related...as he removed the angles with Shrink in uncompressed mode. I was thinking that only IFOEdit and Remake could do this in a way that is acceptable to RB-CCE?

I think that Doc might have a point. We all know how editing with Remake can have unexpected consequnces on the result and I can't see how doing with IFOEdit would be any different.

treyking, I would leave it at 4.2 or 4.3 as you do not want to burn to the edge anyway. I always set mine at 4280 in other apps and since RB always seems to come in between these two, it's perfect. :>)

What I'm wondering is how vurbal knew treyking's problem was a poor CCE install? A "pink mess" sounds more like bad files or an AviSynth problem...with emphasis on the later.

Well, this is the first time I can recall a bad CCE install being the culprit. And ... just about every strange color pattern ends up being something to do with AviSynth. Maybe vurbal will share his secret insight? :)

...and the experience of having been there. That goes a long way. Fortunately, the only problems I've had with CCE was the initial #0003/#0004 errors. With Remake Pro, I had an initial problem getting the "export" to play because I kept messing up First Play with my editing attempts. After I figured that out, it has been pretty smooth.

BTW, this thread has a certain nostalgia attached to it. You started it for the likes of me...as I was just getting interested in improving the quality of my encodes. When I look back and count the days, I realize I've learned a lot in a short amount of time.
