What I'm wondering is how vurbal knew treyking's problem was a poor CCE install? A "pink mess" sounds more like bad files or an AviSynth problem...with emphasis on the later.
I seem to remember seeing a report of a similar problem happening and the AVS files played fine. I didn't remember for sure if I'd seen a solution, but I though somebody had gotten it working after reinstalling CCE. That's really the secret to my success. If I read something I'll most likely remember it later. If I read it 2 or 3 times (like I have most of the digital video related articles, posts, and guides I've found interesting) it's almost a sure bet I'll remember it.

The downside to this particular talent is that I get bored and have to learn something new constantly. A couple of months after I got my DVD burner I had my computer replaced (by my homeowner's insurance) with a much better one that had a capture card. For about the next 5 months I let my DVD collection accumulate without backups because I was learning how to make miniDVDs from my TV captures. I also spent a couple of weeks learning how to make Ambisonic audio miniDVDs from normal audio CDs. The good side of all this is that when I got back to my DVDs I found out I had learned a lot of what I needed to know to use CCE for backing up my DVDs. My only regret is that I there isn't time to learn everything ;)

The abridged version still to come.

Classic Vurbal!

Although perhaps a couple of paragraphs short, and no references to any members of the canine family. Seems we're all pressed for time.

Thanks for sharing your secret. 'Just read something a couple or three times, and it becomes a plug-in to your VRK(vast range of knowledge). :)

I share your dilemma about not having enough time to learn everything. There's a lot more I'd like to learn yet, like in the DV area. I think that is coming soon...if I can just tear myself away from watching all these cool backups.

Xb0xNewb ... welcome to AD. Thank you for the recognition. Remake is a great program, and if you want to do some real serious editing, Pro is also great.

As you might have noticed, many of us use Remake with Rebuilder-CCE. Once the warnings and trailers are removed, the DVD files are usually a respectable size, and after running them through RB-CCE, the output is indestiquishable from the original.

Sup doc i have been messing around trying to use DVD Shrink compressing them but sometimes i notice it makes certain parts choppy on some movies so what i was planning on doing was using shrink to extract the movie by itself and if it requires shrinking do what it needs then go into remake and make the special features disk just hiding the movie and its buttons the only thing i was wondering is when i look at the movie clips in remake they look blocky and some of them have lines does it remain that way when you export it to DVD or does it retain its original quality from the rip.

I think that if you have a choppy movie leaving Remake,it will always be choppy. The only time I've seen choppy in Remake is when a HDD needs defragging.

Also, I don't know of anyone that has tried to use Remake to edit compressed files from Shrink. My personal preference is to use Remake with non-compressed files from either Shrink or Decrypter, then edit them, and then send them on for encoding...which in your case would be to Shrink. At this point I would then remove languages, etc.

When I put it into the Remake demo i am using the full rip not the compressed version and for example in walking tall during the special features if i check where the rock is talking he has lines through his lower body and his head it isnt in the rip it is only in the preview in remake. Will that stay or does it retain original rip quality. I havent actually purchased Remake yet so i cannot export it and see the finished product, thats why im wondering because i dont want to buy it if its going to put lines in my movies.

I enjoy using DVDremake and it's especially useful for removing multi angles before using RB/CCE since RB doesn't support them.

I don't know anything about the demo. I can tell you that the exported files in the retail version are the same as what is on the DVD.

Fianlly after everything I have DVD remake, I just finished exporting my first dvd and I could not even belive how ezzzzzz it was compared to everything else ive tried. I have been using Remake to do the movie and Shrink to encode them which has been working great, however one question I have is how can you take out the widescreen version of a movie if it has wide screen and full screen or is that option only in Pro.

You can do that in either version. The only thing you can't remove in the regular version is ILVU, which would be multiple versions of the movie with the same aspect ratio (like director's cut and theatrical versions). the other advantage to DRM Pro is that you could the commands so it skipped past the AR selection menu, but that's really more of a cosmetic thing than anything else.

So if the movie has the same aspect ratio it is not displayed as a different file and makes the one movie twice the size?

Actually what happens with ILVU is that the video that's the same in different titles is only physically on the disc once, but it appears to be there more than once because it's part of 2 or more different titles. For example, Beauty And The Beast Special Edition has 3 versions of the movie. There's no way you could fit 3 copies of the movie onto a single DVD-9, so most of the movie is shared between all 3 versions, with each one having it's own unique video mixed in as well. With DRM Pro I can remove the 2 versions I don't want without removing the shared video (which I need for the third version). With the regular version of DRM it's all or none.

Ahhhhhh I understand, would you say that upgrading to pro would be worth the extra money because I know Remake was worth it. Also in pro does it have the same methods to hide buttons only it has more options then Remake. Thanks for all the help so far, I couldnt imagine doing my backups any other way.

I'd definitely say it's worth it. And yes it does use the same interface, just with more (and better)options. I wouldn't do my backups any other way either. I even use it for backing up DVD-5's to remove the warnings and studio screens.

Alright I think I will invest in a upgrading to a copy of pro then because I do find remake some what limited in that you can basiclly only hide what you dont need and split things, don't get me wrong it does that job the best in its class, but I am looking for a little bit more in terms of options. Thanks for all the help im pretty sure I will be back with some more questions about PRO once I purchase it and use it.

It definitely sounds like DRM Pro is what you're looking for. It's got a little bit of a learning curve, primarily because because DVD structure, commands, etc. are complicated, but it's as easy as you can make this stuff.
