You know asswipe, you don't have to use this tutorial. The reason jon and I tell people to read, is because quite frankly, we've gotten tired of answering the same questions over and over. Most of the time, I feel like I'm talking to a ten year old with ADHD.
And no one thinks they're cool. Jon is cool to me, because of his awesome tutorial that was so easy to use. But none think they are cool. We've got brains, that's all I can say.
@people with questions about versions:
Just use the version that Jon's tutorial uses. It will be easier to understand that way.
If you are confused about NTSC and PAL, just think of Sony Computer Entertainment of America for NTSC and Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe for PAL.
NOTE: I may be using Sony as an example but it follows along the same lines for Microsoft.

ok well the party is posponed for me but im pretty sure i have ntsc because there is only one file of ltool 1.7.5 for mechassault i was on another site and they said it might be that the action replay memory card corrupted the game save seeing as how they have been known to but i am wondering if this is correct

@WizardWW2 - This is possible, however, I have NEVER had any problems with my Action Replay memory card...knock on wood...

just 1 more question do i have to keep clicking run linux from the campiahgn or should it load the new dash if the game is not in because i turned it off when it said it was safe at the end then i opened the disk tray trying to see the dash and it gave me the error 21 again i think i might have to redo this

but if its my stock HD, and they replace it....will my eeprom still be intact? or in other words...will i still be able to play XBL?

@WizardWW2 - No, the Evox dash should automatically load when the Xbox powers on instead of the MS Dash if done properly. Also, be sure you're turning it on with the small POWER button, not the big EJECT button. But if it's still giving you error 21, it sounds to me like you selected the wrong version of UDE to install. Try re-running the installer and selecting the other one....

@cybershot - you can't play XBL with a softmodded Xbox. You'll be banned at one point or another. When they replace your HD they will have to put your eeprom on the new one, so it doesn't matter...

What does a Linux Installer do? I was cruesing through my action replay looking at stuff and i saw that at the top and wanted to know what it was good for or used for?
PS. Im still stuck at i need to downgrade to dash 1420 or something like that or upgrade to some file with .xbe at the end. Need Help still.
@ Jon - I did what you told me too do got a game got the content downloaded off of it and then i put in 007 and triing to modded the xbox but still had the same problem.

@Biggjake - I'm sorry man, I have never heard of or seen this problem. When you upgrade your dash with an Xbox Live enabled game, all you have to do is run the Linux installer and it will be fine. I don't know what you're doing wrong. You're probably selecting the wrong settings for your Xbox. In which case, REREAD the tutorial and select the proper settings during installation of the mod that pertain to your box...

jon so u mean that, if they replace my HD, they will put my bill gates electric signature thingy on the new one (not the 80 gig one) so i can play xbl again if i switch my 80 gig with the stock one? or are u saying i cant play live period if i softmod it. cuz i thought that if u power on the xbox with the game in it already so u dont let evox load, u cud still play......

@alinaries Get a save from xbins or another site that has acction replay compatible saves save them to ur desktop open up action replay drag and drop the file on to ur memory card (assuming ur memory card is plugged into the usb unit)

btw all of u looking to get on xbl it is possible u just need another program not evox its called unleashed x my friend (i will not release his gametag for obvious reasons) has it and it automatically let him on XBL.
However if u want to use evox all im going to tell u is u have to ftp into ur xbox and edit some files im not going to tell u which

let me try this again. @any one who knows. my xbox freezes at the xbox logo screen. it wont play games and it wont load a dash. i took it in to get it looked at and they said the hd is damaged and they wont replace it becouse that is modding. i dont think you can replace the hd any way because you need the eeprom from your original hd right? and i cant get to it. well what i was wanting to know was would a mod chip fix my problem? PLease answer

hey jon, dont know if ur there but i have read your tutorial and its the easiest one i could have found so far, but i am stuck. when i open up the option menu for the mIRC i cant find where it says IRC Network, so i cant find where to change it to Efnet and connect to my local server
