I'm quite understanding the sentiments that most of you are trying to impress but ultimately what im having difficulty dealing with is that under my ban message I was told that my account was banned. So, To test it out I thought I could make another profile and try the silver live just to see if I could get it to connect and im still getting the connection failure with the same message on a different account which certainly pertains to a console ban.
I'm not the most well versed in this concept so if there is something different here that i'm missing please share but for my part it least it certainly seems like it is the same thing.

I still think it's (mainly) to do with the hard-drive portion of the imminent (in 2 days) NXE update, i think MS are waving the banhammer before the masses get to (legitimately) install games to the hard drive. That's my (limited) theory anyway..

Erithial.....it is only your console that is banned recover your gamertag using your hard drive on another console ...and your ok ....console is banned everytime not your account this is fact im on another console now after being banned on friday...im thinking about having this one modded but im a little uneasy at the moment....

Thats what I'm wondering too, seems the ban posts are starting to dwindle down slowly.

Did you swap drive yourself or have someone do it for you? And what drive does it have in it now? You do know that Samsung and Hitachi drives spoofed as Lite On's have a high chance of being detected?

Ok the only way i see it is that thecause of the ban wave is because of bad rips and games downlaoded n playe online before release date such as cod5 gow2 and fallout 3/ In addittion if some one claims theve never played on live with thier xbox it maybe because of 2 things 1 they were flagged on adifferent firmware or 2 they wereplayig non stealth backups offline but as soon as they connected 2 live they were banned. well so far im good with the ban wave and i doubt the nxe will start detecting hacked firmware as soo many poeple are worried about that. so in conclusion its not the firmware thats getting people banned its to bad rips and playing on live with early releases.

So far as today 11/17 i'm not banned, i played GOW2 the early release but not in the online mode although i was online. I have the Benq qith 1.4 firmw, i havent played COD5 so far, i hope this help

After reading all these pages...Here is my .02 on the situation...
I agree with the games causing the M$ ban, one question tho..Has anyone been banned with these games where they made their own backup and not dl the game?
Personally I have repaired and worked on over 200 consoles. NONE of the games played have been downloaded, all are rips..None of my friends, nor myself have been banned as of yet...I've never played a game before release date either..I'm sorry, thats just a NOT smart thing to do..If I get banned, oh well. That's a risk that I took...

As of 17th november i am banned
not played any of the suspect games
been playing midnight club la since its release date nt played before the release date, never played any game before official release date.
Dont own cod5, gow2 fallout 3 etc etc so its not that
not even played any onlinem atches or anything i just bought the 12 month live about 2 weeks ago but not got round to playing any online matches.
Banhammer has hit down on me just for having a modded console quite simply.
Gonna get it swapped and recover my gamertag for a console off the guy who modded it for me he knew what was happening so has stocked up on 360's that people brought him to be modfied that have said they are never going live with so he's gonna swap my banned one for a nice unbanned one =]

A friend of mine was banned, and he only played 4 games ever!
BF: Bad Company
Sega Rally
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
GTA 4
Also, note that he hasn't been on live for a few weeks, so these recent bannings are not necessarily from the games recently played!

Did you play Saints Row 2? Looks like you've been playing it on your gamertag signiture.
Was it an original or a backup copy, it might help people find out if it's bad downloads or something to do with those specific games.

That's the problem with these message boards. People like cjdj who just sit there and lie about what games they played and if they played it online. Look at your gamertag you played SaintsRow 2 and got Zero achevements. so that means you either just checked to see it was a good burn or you played online only.
Just keep it real is all we ask.

More importantly, it doesn't help to just list the games you played because we don't know where you got the copy, or if downloaded, which release.
Don't just list the games you've played, tell whether they are your own rips or downloaded, and if downloaded whether they are releases nuked on www.abgx.net .
Those peeps saying they didn't play any of the new suspect games may well have played a nuked release, or for all we know not even be using the newest/correct firmware.

i meant RECENTLY, i wasn't lying, if you guys are gonna just have a pop at anyone posting their info your gonna detour people away from the place that afterdawn is supposed to be.
and ye i just popped it in about a month ago to check it was a good burn nt played it just started th first mission then turned it off. I played it for that long that i forgot i had evn played it so like i said i wasn't lying.
check all my burns with mulleter and all pass fine or i don't burn them.
i spoke to the guy who mods them and he reckons that they have had peoples consoles i.d. recorded for weeks and now have started throwing down the banhammer. Like i said i havnt been online for just under a week or so, i unplugged the network plug as soon as this thread was still only on page one. tHen i spoke to theguy who mods them today and he said just turn it on if your gonna be banned your gonna be banned, then said bwt the console i.d. thing

firmware 1.4, and i have no idea i dont check that site, i check it passes mulleter and if there are any problems i don't burn. i can't remember every exact release of each game.
Some are downloaded some are rips, some are original

Cut the B.S. how you don't remember what games you played 1 month ago. According to your gamertag you played 25 games. Not that many to not remember. Especially when it's the 2nd newest game you've played after Midnight Club L.A.

Thanks for the info cjdj, I don't think they meant anything personally, people are just getting frustrated with not knowing how they are detecting everybody.
For all we know, they could just be checking your gamertag in the afterdawn forums and banning you based off comments in here! lol... it sounds like a crazy idea, but nobody could say for certain they didn't do it! :)

Guys once again i been online with my hitachi fw 1.4 played dead space ,GOW2,and shaun white...still not banned...maybe bcos im in danmark..I dont know....but im to legit to quit..

I have played all games in question on live and I am not banned. I have a BenQ Drive with the Ixtreme 1.41 firmware. I have a Kreon Drive and make all of my own backups off of original disks, I have never played a downloaded game, or a game before it releases. All backups are on Verbatim DL-DVD made in Singapore.
I am staying off line till I see what the NXE does this week. I do have a spare 360 with a liteon drive in it, if I get banned I can still play on live with it, but would rather keep my flashed box live enabled.
Good luck to all who have escaped the Banhammer thus far.
