Thanks Fergus, it's great to get clarification, but there is no confusion really this is what I had originally posted, I know it was a little long winded but exactly as you have clarified >>>>

Hi Antoinette, here is the correct procedure for flashing The Box with versions above 4.50 and 4.51, hope it clarifies things for you.

Seen a few posts with people having problems when flashing Starview 2 The Box with firmware versions over 4.50 Ireland and 4.51 UK, below is the correct procedure and you must load 2 bin files in the correct order if you want to upgrade :-

As regards the 4.52,53,54, using GTRom 4.00 is no good, that's where people are going wrong - this is the procedure :- From V4.50/51 you must - Use the New Improved GTrom Loader Ver 4.03 for example >>>>>>>

First flash thebox_H20070814_452eE_api.bin to your box with the new GTRom.4.3
(select as App file only)

Then flash thebox_logobg.bin to your box using the new GTRom.4.3
(select Background Data File)

Version 4.53 For UK

If you are upgrading from 4.51 or earlier you must flash 4.53 first. then flash the logo file. If you already have the 4.52 on just flash the 4.53 straight on, no need for the logo file, you must use the 4.3 loader.

Version 4.54 for UK & Ireland

If you are upgrading from 4.51 or earlier then flash 4.54 first then afterwards flash the logo file. If you already have 4.52 on or later then just flash the 4.54 straight on without it. You must use the new Loader Software GTRom Ver.4.3

yep malci but you do not have to flash with the v4.52 and then the v4.53 you can flash from any file straight to the v4.54 as long as you put the logo file on once the firmware is v4.51and under

Cheers Fergus, I do understand that, as I said, maybe I was being a bit long winded in quoting it from the very beginning, but I stated that at the end of post. Thanks and Take care.

No problem gman, yes it is two seperate Bin Files Firmware and the Logo file as follows (thebox_H20071015_454eE_api.bin) Firmware - and this (thebox_logobg.bin) this one is simply the logo which comes on to the screen when you first turn on The Box - Starview 2 (And yes it is a background file, does not stay on for long though, just at the point of initial switch on)

It is only used on Starview 2 The Box just to clarify, I think I might have cleared it up for you if not give me a shout.
All understood malci.

Thanks for all the Info ;-)

Hi Magoo, Yep it will probably have no firmware on it if it is new, they are provided as FTA receivers, so you will have to flash it, even if it has firmware on (which is doubtful) you will do no harm flashing it anyway, so carry on - you will find an easy guide at the link here, courtesy of Celtic >>>>>>
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/663923

All the firmware is in Eamo's FTA Library at the bottom of my post, it is All In One loader for the SV 3 Super, good luck.

Depending on which starview 3 you have if you have the new one with the extra tv output you will need the v7.09 if you have the earlier model you will need the v6.01

Hi all very long time no talk, Ferg how'd you get on in asia its the place to be pal?

Anyway was asked there by a friend of mine the other day about the ddigital box he bought one and he said when he uploaded the new software the screen went green and now it just will not switch on. I realise this is the starview area but it doesn't seem to be a very popular box "wonder why". Any help at all on this would be much obliged!
