People Say It's Im possible to play a Back up Action Replay Max (Evo) with Swap Magic Disc. But I have a working back up of Action Replay Max EVO That can boot up your ps2 games with the cheats working from the copied AR Max Evo. Luckily, I will tell you this guide which is 100% Originally Made by me.
Requirements
DVD Decrypter (Search Google, you'll be able to download from there.
DVD+/-R Disk ( Which One Works on your PS2 )
Action Replay MAX (Evo) - I do not tolerate Piracy so You have to buy action replay before you can back it up and use my guide.
Apache2/IML2ISO/ Something That converts IML to ISO
CD/DVD GEN
ISOBUSTER
Modified FILES (You need this to make it work, Download from --->) http://www.savefile.com/files/4940100
METHOD
First Off, Make a ISO of AR MAX (EVO) Using DVD Decrypter. (MODE>ISO>READ, Select Destination and Press Decrypt)
Next, Open ISO Buster and open the AR MAX Image you just made. It will show all the files of AR MAX like this pic below.
The HighLight All Files, And Press Extract to, Extract it all to 1 folder. Next Download The Modified Files from http://www.savefile.com/files/4940100
Than Open The folder With all the action replay files and extract all the files from the winRAR file and extract them to the same folder where the action replay files are. Once you've done that, Open Notepad and open SYSTEM.CNF for your action max replay folder and replace all the writing with this

Than Save and open MSYSTEM.CNF with notepad it should look something like this
If you downloaded the file from save file

Either Way, you must change the top one
From:
\MENU 1\cdrom0:\PS2LOAD.ELF;1
TO This:
\AR MAX EVO\cdrom0:\SLUS_200.90;1
IMPORTANT NOTE: CHANGE THE SLUS 200.90 to the SLUS THATS IN YOUR FOLDER, so if its SLUS 253.23, than change it to that AND ETC. YOU MUST DO THIS
The Files with the squares around them are the newly files you just extracted. Next Open CD/DVD Gen. And Put all the files in the folder of AR MAX into CD/DVD Gen to make it look like this:
(NOTE: I use ISO BUSTER so it would be quicker, But you use CD/DVD GEN)
Next, Click The Volume TAB, And Put The Disc Name As The SAME As The SLUS/SLES File. So if the SLUS/SLES FILE WAS SLUS_200.90 in the folder. Than Write the disc name AS SLUS 20090, Than Write the Producer name as PLAYSTATION And Lincence area as America/Europe (Where ever you live). It Should Look Something Like This:
Next Press FILE>IMPORT IML, And Choose to save it anywhere. (Either onto the Desktop or in a folder).
Next Open Apache2/IML2ISO/Any Program that converts IML to a ISO. Press File>Import IML. After that it will show all the files in the iml. Next Press FILE>BUILDISO. Let it Complete.
Finally, Open DVD Decrypter and Press MODE>ISO>WRITE, Open the NEW ISO you just made using Apache2/IML2ISO/ect and Write at 2-4x speed onto a dvd r and test it. Note: You need to follow these instructions on how to use.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE
Action Replay MAX EVO Edition - Swap Magic
Use the swap magic DVD to load the disc, after you loaded the game you will see a black screen with white writing. Move down and highlight the part that says
"RESET IOP." Using your D-pad set it to "ALWAYS" so in the end it will say
"RESET IOP: ALWAYS"
This MUST be done. Now press "X" and you will see this screen.
From this screen press "X" again and you will be taken to a screen that contains 8 Menu items, the first one says AR MAX EVO and it will be flashing, press X and now Action Replay MAX EVO will load. It may seem like nothing is happening, but just wait it takes about 20 seconds to boot up. If you have a Network Adaptor
it will ask you if want to check for updates. Just select "NO" for now. Now you have your AR MAX EVO fully booted up and you can mess around with it little to get the hang of it.
The background screen will tell you to change the disk, BUT DON'T! Select "Expert Mode" to see all the codes. Choose a game and the codes you want to use or add a game if you like. When you?re done press START and choose an option you will see a screen that says "Make sure your game disk is inside" but whatever you do, DO NOT EJECT THE DISK, this will prevent the codes from working on your back up. Just follow the procedure and start up the game.
5. Now you will be taken back to the screen that first came up when you started the disk. However, there is no need to change the IOP here, just press "X" again.
Now you?re back to this screen
There is different steps you have to take depending on whether your game is CD or DVD so look below.
PS2 CD: EJECT disk from your PS2 ( if you have a old ps2 press the eject button , if you have a slim ps2 take out one of the magic switch bits that is used to fool the ps2 into thinking the lid is closed then put the part back. ) and insert the official Swap Magic CD . Wait for the screen to change back to this one.
Now just SWAP the game with your CD back up using either the slide card or Flip Top Lid, press X to load and your DONE! The codes should now work.
{PS2 DVD:EJECT the disk from your PS2 ( if you have a old ps2 press the eject button , if you have a slim ps2 take out one of the magic switch bits that is used to fool the ps2 into thinking the lid is closed then put the part back. )And insert the official Swap Magic DVD. Wait for the screen to change back to this one.
Now press "X" and you should see THIS screen
Now just SWAP the SM disk with your DVD back up using either the Slide Card or magic switch and press "X" to load it and your DONE! Your back up DVD should now
Work with the codes you selected in Action Replay.
PLEASE READ: I am 100% sure that codes on DVD back ups will work, I have not tried any CD back ups, but I'm pretty
sure it does. Also when you using the Memory Max Manager, DO NOT USE IT TO DELETE OR MOVE SAVE FILES as this will delete EVERYTHING on your memory card. This is not an error on me, but actually DATEL?s screw up. You can still use Memory Max to crush files, which saves a ton of space. If you want to move or delete files on your mem cards just use the PS2 browser.

Oh And 1 More thing. You can Only use the codes for the region of the ar max you bought.

I've been trying to do this for a while, and i just came to your post.I've wasted some discs while doing this, not your method, others that i came across, and others that i tryed to crack myself.And experience tells me, without any cd wasted, that that ain't going to work, because the system.cnf is what AR MAX looks to boot the game, and since the one in there actually refers to the SLES file, it will just reboot, and it won't start the cd loader.At least, that's my logic.Still i'm gonna try it, but i'm very reluctant with this going to work.

And seems like i was right, the AR MAX just boots half fine (it doesn't load the codelist, dunno if it is because i changed it with the newst version), and when i start the game, it just freezes in the press x to continue part.And if i try to go to the max memory opart, it just shows the red screen of Sony.

Do you havea original copy of AR MAX?
This tool lets you have action replay work, just like my copy which works. Only prob is it doesnt havea any seeders

EDIT: Ok I think i found the solution mate. For MSYSTEM.CNF, Open it with Note Pad, It should look something like this:

\MENU 10\cdrom0:\PS2LOAD.ELF;1
CHANGE THE SLUS thing to the same numbers of the slus file for your air max.
And Then Open SYSTEM.CNF with Notepad and change ALL the writing in there with this

VER = 1.00
VMODE = PAL
Do this and try again, i think it should work after that mate

Ok, i finnaly got it to work, you don't need dvd, you can do it with a dvd, just get the cd loader7 version 5.2 from www.swapmagicfix.com, put the files on the same folder that AR MAX was, and overwrite the system.cnf of AR MAX with the one that came from CD loader, and download the file that you refer above, and take out the msystem.cnf,and overwrite the msystem.cnf you have on the folder, and burn it with Nero.It will work.

LoL, just one thing, i didn't use your reply, i used a disc that i had here that i thought that i wasted, but it worked...but that's the problem.
Anyway, cool guide, if you create another one that prevents that mistakes, i'm sure it will be stickied.

There is a MUCH easier way.
Its very easy and works like a charm.
I recommend this method its much simpler,
And only requires 2 extra swaps.
DVD BACKUPS
1. Boot AR MAX
2. Select the codes you want
3. Select Start Game
4. The cd/dvd drive will now eject automatically.
If you have a version 1-8 ps2 replace the AR MAX with the swap magic cd.
If you have a version 9/10 ps2 replace the AR MAX with the Swap magic dvd.
Once you have made the appropriate swap press eject to close the cd/dvd drive and press x.
5. Once the Swap magic cd/dvd has loaded do the following...
If you have a version 1-8 ps2 swap the swap magic cd with the cdloader using ea method and press x.
If you have a version 9/10 ps2 swap the swap magic dvd with the dvdloader using ea method and press x.
6. Once the cd/dvdloader has loaded press eject and swap the cd/dvdloader with a high toc original such as the swap magic dvd and press eject to close.
7. Wait about 7 seconds and press x.
8. Once the screen that says "swap dvdr by ea method" comes up swap the high toc original with your DVD-R backup using ea method and press x.
9. Your backup will now load with cheats.
CD BACKUPS
1. Boot AR MAX
2. Select the codes you want
3. Select Start Game
4. The cd/dvd drive will now eject automatically.
If you have a version 1-8 ps2 replace the AR MAX with the swap magic cd.
If you have a version 9/10 ps2 replace the AR MAX with the Swap magic dvd.

Yeh And Also, if you didn't listen. This is On HOW TO BACK UP Ar MAX. Which will work on swap magic. and can boot codes. Basically im talking about:
Boot Swap Magic--->Put BACKUP AR Max
Not, The Original AR Max, I have a original AR MAX, But it was so scratched I cant play it now so i need backup, and luckily i had still had the iso so i worked on it and now i can play codes on my games again. Read before you reply, thanks, and besides, mine only rquires 3 swaps (which includes the swap magic swap to boot ar max & to put game in.)

is it possible to make a PAL ar max evo ISO to work with swap magic? there is only a US version of this ISO and i would like to use it for my PAL games.

Oh its still ok as long as you use my method, but you have to type the codes manually and it has to be for PAL codes of

Hey, does your AR MAX loads the codelist on the cd?cuz mine doesn't.I thought that it was to do with the fact that i overwrited the EU_codelist a newer version of it, but with doesn't load the original too.
Also, do you have any experience with LaunchELF?

No Expierience with LuanchELF, but the codelist loads off the memory card.

LoL, nevermind, i just took a usb pen, and put the codelist on it and copied it via ar max.and then i copied it to the ar max settings file.and now it's all working fine.

Ok, i'll try to guide you.
You must have the original Ar MAX because i don't think the MAX memory on the burned copy works.
You boot the Ar MAX EVO, and then you select the MAX memory section.Then you insert the Pen drive, and select it on the MAx memory.Just wait a little bit and the files should appear.Then you just need to select it, and copy or move it to the memory card.
If your pen drive is not recognized by Ar MAX EVO, post.
