The original disc of this game doesn't even work if you have your modchip enabled. It has to be disabled in order to start. The backup copy I made loads to the main menu but does not let you browse menus-they are all greyed out. I know it is only early days (released 8/12/05) but does anybody have a solution?

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was because I used crappy media the first time, but I burned again to Verbatim and still no luck.
I'm going to rebuild it right now and try again. Will report back.

could it be that this is some new protection that detects the mod? Since you say you need to have to mod off to play the original, could it be that whatever is stopping you from playing the original with the mod on is also stopping the backup from working properly?

Quite possibly wes, I remember with a demo of the Hulk Ultimate Destruction, I had to turn off my chip to play it.
That was with a Ripper 2, I now have a muppet chip, though I haven't tried to boot the original with the muppet turned on.

Theres a scene release of the game by PRECISION. I wondered if this one was causing issues or if it was just self-ripping problems.

Real copies will only work if the Mod CHip is disabled. How will backed up copies work?

By somehow creating a patch that disables the checks that the game does to ensure that the system is not modified

I have got it to work after a rebuild thats all just the isobuster and Nero way. Using TDK DVD-R's, burnt at 4x speed on a V7 with No Solder Chip and Swap Magic 3.6

Can someone who has made a successful copy for playing on Chipped PS2's post the method (or a link to the method) they used?

yerp same problem here... the copy i made works like the original if the modchip is turned off..
Has there been a solution for this yet? The Precision release appears to be rebuilt - since it's been brought down from 3.4gb to 2.4gb. I'm also thinking it would require a patch to disable the check.
