Tokijin wrote in another forum:

Okay I checked out the RL2 thread. It doesn't appear anybody tried rebuilding the game with Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool) or CD/DVDGen. I bet there's either a dummy file someone missed, or it just wasn't rebuilt correctly. There was one person who said that a rebuild with Nero and IsoBuster worked fine, and a couple others who said it didn't. Looks like human error to me. Try rebuilding all three ways, burning on different media, different speeds, different programs, not having a bunch of stuff running in the background, making sure your burner is in DMA Mode, and defragging your HD. If all that fails, then there may be an issue. It's clear to me that people haven't tried all these things yet. Give it a try and lemme know how it goes. Some stuff that will help:

10. Q. What does rebuilding an iso mean?
A. It means that some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic. Games over 4.38GB's will need rebuilt. This isn't true for ALL games over 4.38GB's and differs on a game to game basis. There is no need to rebuild games if you have a modchip.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT:
From Anthony 05:
Download it and then follow these instrcutions and it will work.

1. select Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins list.
2. Select the iso.
3. Click extract LBA
4. Click extract file
5. Click rebuild file
6. Click rebuild lba.

Make sure you do it in that order.

This worked for me when every other way failed.
It is very easy to do so even the noobies should be able to do it.
Keep in mind im backing up the PAL version, but if your having trouble backing up with NTSC then i dont see a problem trying.
Good luck.

49. Q. I'm rebuilding game X, I'm concerned it has dummy files. How do I identify the dummy files?
A. From Hursty: When you see the iso has dummy files.i.e 00DUMMY. 01DUMMY. GARBAGE ETC, you need to get rid of them, by replacing them with a file. So on the desktop, right click the mouse, select "new" > text document and rename it as it appears in isobuster, then click enter. Then open the text document on the desktop, hit space once, then save, this will create a text document with 1 byte in it, Do this for all the dummy files you have, as some games have more than one.

19. Q. Where I can I find Apache 2, Winhiip, or PAL2NTSC patcher with Y-fix?
A. http://teammodders.com/download.php?action=category&cat_id=8

78. Q. Sure I'm supposed to use DVD Decrypter, Alcohol 120%, Isobuster, DVD Shrink, Nero, IML2ISO, CD/DVDGen and all this different software you mention for burning PS2 games, where can I download it?
A. This is for those exceptionally lazy people who don't realize that you click on the hyperlink of the program in question and it links you to a download page. So enjoy.
DVD Decrypter (Thanks to Paddymail for the links): http://teammodders.com/download.php?action=file&file_id=1

here: http://xtreme-source.com/main.php?c_id=download&action=file&file_id=17

or here:

Alcohol 120%: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/alcoho...
Nero: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_applications/n...
DVD shrink: (Not for PS2 games, but useful for shrinking DVD-9 to DVD-5) http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...
IsoBuster: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/isobuster.cfm
CD/DVDGen: http://teammodders.com/download.php?action=category&cat_id=8
IML2ISO: http://www.phpsoft.org/iml2iso.php

To burn PS2 games with Alcohol 120%: Insert your blank disc. Open Alcohol 120%. Go to File-->Open. Browse to your iso file and double click it. Right click it and click image burning wizard. Select your recorder, set the data type to PS2, check rectify sub channel data , set the write speed at 2x or 4x, the write method RAW DAO, and click next.

Ive got a question and ive looked over this to think their shouldnt be a problem but...

Ive made a 1:1 copy of the rl2 game through clone cd right and because rl2 is my christmas present its already wrapped up but i have a 1:1 copy.

Does that mean i would still have every single file needed to run the game on the 1:1 copy but obviously it isnt going to be recognised by the ps2 and in saying that i can use it as my source to attempt this?

(I suggest u read it a few times if you didnt understand it the first time).

DOn't worry i got the original game and iso'd it. Ok ive used the gnie program to extract the layer and have discovered that nothing at all is hidden from our view. I will try another program i used for gt4 to see if their is anything i am not seeing but i can't think of anything else at this stage.

Lol don't worry man they havnt they've just put a 4x2 infront of the door.

Ive done some research to find that the original game had a safe disk protection on it and this makes me wonder if their is a link between the 2 games and a newer version of safe disk installed.

Im going to try the safe disk method on Alcohol 120.

wish me luck :D

nope. THe 2 copies ive made are booted through swap magic/slide tool and both do not even load past a blank screen.

Im scrapped for ideas and im 100% sure their needs to be a fix patch in order to get the sob to run.

Well thing is from what ive done hours worth of exploring, ive found that their is no dummy files but obviously their must be check files for originality of a file or something. We need someone to explore into what stops the loading from occuring and to produce a solution and i would love to help that cause but im not familar with the ps2 environment or anything relating to ps2 files. Sonix is our only hope :D. Remember also the kiwi's arnt that smart their just using a protection program that im sure has ways around it but at the moment we can't fiugre out how
