boobooman, thanks for the info. Looked for dummy files couldn't find any.
Remember the ORIGINAL game will not boot with a modchip on and installed. (Unless it is turned off).

FYI - reports are appearing that the Precision release also does not work.
Haven't verified myself as I haven't bothered downloading it.

you will need WinRAR to extract the files...
though i wouldn't bother yet, kafiend reckons that the download doesn't even work...
ffs we just want to make a backup of the game we bought!

I have also got this same problem with backing it up striaght to my harddisk on the PS2.
ok onto looking whats on the disk, what tools will open PS2 *.pak files ?

ah oh well this game is just frustrating the hell out of me anyways all this wait for such a big let down. hope u guys can figure this out because i am so looking forward to taking this bloody game back to the store. this would have to be up there with Driv3r with all the hype and it all turn to nothing! good luck muchacho's

anyone tested the precision release first hand? Fair few seeds for it now...
pak files just hold music, pics etc.. do a search on this forum and there's a few applications that can get the movies/audio from the pak files for ya..

Tell ya who could help out with this, sonix. He is from the Uk and they have the superleague version and in saying that the games running wouldnt be much different except for the different videos and player screens.

His done all the major games and im dam sure he could do this. I tried backing up the game and yer i used the slide tool and swap magic and it just is a blank screen.

Precision release is also a useless download. The iso is 3.4gb..
Will be nuked shortly.. i.e dont bother downloading

also the original doesn't like being ejected from it's drive. I tried to swap the original for the backup during the game, and it just wouldn't continue.

I also had problems playing original Rugby League 2 with mod chip installed, when it came to blue screen I had to just eject the game and then it loaded fine.
I tried burning copy on NERO,CLONE CD AND SONIC RECORD NOW, and when it gets to menu options I still cant do it, surely there is a patch out there somewhere guys, that lets u get past game play options...
PS help much appreciated.

I can confirm that the ISOBuyster/CDVGEN/DVD Decrypter rebuild method doesn't wotk. It freezes on the loading black screen

Kia Ora,
I have found a way to successfully play a backup of rugby league 2 on a slim ps2 with matrix infinity chip installed.
I used DVD Decrypter & Alcohol 120% to create the backup.
I burnt the iso onto a verbatim datalife DVD-R at 4x.
Now, when I tried to load the backup,I noticed it froze on the tru blu screen at the start.At this point,I noticed the disc stopped spinning.
The solution-press eject,just before the tru blu logo appears,close the lid immediately....& voila,the backup loads.
I can confirm that this does in fact work-You may need to try it a few times-but it does work(unsure about other modchips tho),
A bit of a hassle-but at least I wont have to wait for someone in the US to create a patch for this game.

Dam,so much for getting my hopes up....The title screen & movie loaded-but the menu functions were unselectable.There must be some other way:-(
