The "_system_" directory is part of the firmware files/directories you copy onto your empty memory card. The 'firmware' is the name of the collection of files/directories you copy to your memory card
If you look at whats in the downloaded firmware you will see the following.
_system_
moonshl
_DS_MENU.DAT
_DS_MSHL.NDS
The first two are directories containing further files and the last two are files.
Just copy all of them into the root of your memory card.
Take a look at this guide

It has screen prints so may help.

Yes the _system_ directory should have those file/directories. If yours doesn't you need to re download the latest version of the firmware from the links found within this thread.

I am currently using M3 V1.12 firmware, but I can't seem to connect to my Wi-Fi (To my router to play online). Anyone know why? The previously version worked when I was playing Tetris, now it doesn't work at all.
Also, anyone know any previous problems with the older firmware about causing the clock to stop ticking or working? Cause my girlfriend had that problem previously.

yea ummm, i have the m3 simply and i havent formatted the micro sd card, it still works so do i really need to?
Also i still cant get the cheat system to work, the stuff i downloads just says that 'the hardware is not compatible' any one have any ideas as to what i am doing wrong?

I have two M3 DS Simply Chips both with 1gb cards (both kingston) i have system software 1.13 on both chips and the same games.
I shall call them A & B
A functions as normal
B will not write SAV files but will read them when copied from another card. ( it gives you the option to create one and i press A but nothing is written to the card)
I have tried lower firmware and have tried both 1gb cards both in fat 16 and fat 32.
Is cartridge B broken or am i doing something wrong its really doing my head in now as they should be the same.
PS the two cartridges have been used by 8 year olds for a week, im thinking they may have pressed an odd button combination that disables writing to the 1gb card but i cannot find any documentation about this.
if any one can help please let me know Cheers i dont want to take it back if its USER ERROR : )

hi i have a m3ds simply which i got a year ago and i have a 1 and 2 gig sandisk.today i downloaded some games and a emulator for it and then tried it out. i worked twice and then it said couldnt find ds_menu.dat and so i plugged it into the computer and everything was deleted , i didnt delete it and i was wondering wtf was going on. if any1 knows about this then please help me out.

I have an M3 DS Simply with a 2gb Kingston MicroSD card to sell...anyone know where I can sell it? Ebay wont let me. They cancelled it because it apparently violates policy.

hi ive just got a m3 card for my ds. i got some games and put them on the sd card and i think ive done all the necessary to get it onto my ds.
when i put the m3 card in the ds it shows the game in the menu, so i go to play it but on the top screen it says save file does not exist. creating save file? then on a black screen on the bottom it says save data file format error!! only way of getting out of this is to turn the ds off. i did read somewhere how to change the save default but that wouldnt work either.
can someone please help as ive been searching the internet on how to sort this out and i now have a very irate 8 year old waiting for her ds back fully loaded with games!

I need some help, FFCrystal Chronicles and The world ends with you wont work on my M3Simply, im on firmware 1.14, i turned off Soft Reset but still wont work, FF freezes in the intro and The World freezes after the intro, also the intro has no sound. all my other backups work fine.
One more thing, it seems everyone is using the R4 and the M3Real now, why is that? are those cards better than the M3Simply?
UPDATE: never mind, it works now, i delete other back-ups and now it works fine, it seems those games require some memory or something and my card was almost full, i think there was only a few megabytes left.

jnd, maybe you didnt put all the required files on your card, or maybe you got a bad back-up, this is the lattest M3Simply firmware: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?s=8e91aeea3...e&download=2310 , you should also get another back-up, if that doesnt work then maybe you M3 or your Micro card are broken, good luck.

I'm sorry, does this work for the M3 DS Real too? I tried it and it doesn't work. It only takes me to the menu of that game and not out to the main M3 DS Real menu. Thanks again in advance for your help.

You need to turn soft-reset on for each game before you load it, when you select a game you should see a menu similar to the one below:
Choose "SoftReset Key" and select either of the key combinations shown:
Use the selected key combo to reset back to the M3 menu anytime during the game.

The clock stop workin is happenin again and I still can't connect my DS to my router.

can some body tell me how to download free games for the m3 ds simply? i have limewire basic and for some reason can't seem to find any games that work when put onto the micro sd.
do i need to download something else that downloads the games or is limewire ok??

i'm really desperate cuz all my friends have ttds and r4 and im the only one with an m3 so i cant ask anyone else for help
