you can set your target in dvdfab decrypter to go to fixvts. so really thats about as easy as ripit4me

I've had no problems using DVDFab Platinum as it's capable of shrinking as well. I'm not sure the DVDFabHD can do that however, it appears the beta AnyDVD 6309/Nero Recode combo is a winner as well on this one. Good luck!!

There should be an option to switch from DVD-9 to DVD-5 using Platinum. Look around midpage. Just choose entire DVD in the option and go for it. Let me know if it works as it worked for me.

I couldn't do it with any one program. DVDFab 3 and DVDFab HD wouldn't even scan the whole disc before giving me some sort of input error. DVDFab 4 and AnyDVD would get to about 50% and then just freeze up. I had to tag-team this disc. RipIt4Me works if you have AnyDVD running in the background. Don't terminate it when asked.

Let it Decrypt with DVD Decrypter and then it will tell you that your disc may be scratched or dirty, do you want to re-rip? Say No. When it asks you do you want to clean up, say Yes. This deletes all of the excess dummy cells that make DVD Shrink think that the disc is over 10GB. After that, just let it finish the clean up, and then load normally into DVD Shrink. In about a half-hour, it should be done and ready to burn.

Hope this helps somebody. I scoured the web, trying to find a way to rip this DVD, and through lots of trial and error, found a way. Good luck! Angelus

CMAN

when you are doing a DVD to DVD Burn in DVD FAB Platinum i went into settings and clicked the dvd to dvd tab witht the green emblem beside it, and i changed default output size to DVD 5, now this should make it burn on a DVD-R Correct?? Also my source is obviously the DVD, what does the target folder need to be?? Is it also the DVD drive or do i put it into a folder and then burn it to the disc?? Also, DVD Fab can burn the disc to correct. I appreciate any help here!!

Yes, when you changed the settings, it will fit on a regular DVD (DVD5).
Here's where it starts to get somewhat tricky. Choose a temp directory you can find easily. I usually set up a "VideoTemp" folder on a partition I try to keep relatively empty. If you only have a single HD, just make a temp folder and use it. Now, when it time for Platinum to burn, you can choose the included burner OR one of your choosing. I directed it to use Nero for burning. If you have some other burner software, that will suffice. There's always the third option of simply depositing the ripped files into a folder and ripping it seperately from Platinum like perhaps using Recode to burn the video files.

Hope that helps! :)

That's okay - just rip it. Then when you open those files ripped from DVDFab in Shrink - Shrink will get it to fit on the DVD-5.

You are da man, that worked perfectly. Thankyou, so much, do you know if Mr Woodcock will work this way to or not?

I'm not sure bout Mr. Woodcock but the basic technique is pretty much golden for now. As you are well aware, things change as it's a constant game of encryption vs decryption and at any given time, a certain software package will cease to be effective. Just ask the folks with Nero Recode combo'd with AnyDVD 6303. Used to work like a charm but not anymore on the newer 2008 releases.

Just stay on top of the information mountain and you'll be fine for the most part. There are guys on here that are pretty much Phd's when it comes to this sort of thing.

Happy Burnings!!!! :)

The programmer went to Nero, hence the birth of Nero Recode.

AD friends, Lionsgate films have a new wrinkle in their movies

Armamentaria (A)

1) newest dvdfabhd or Anydvd/dvd decrypter combo
2) fixvts
3) vob blanker
4) dvd shrink
5) imgburn

Methodology

1) rip to HDD by any of the 2 above methods in A-1
2) use fixvts full disc
3) use vob blanker ( blank out all items that have no video { use preview function } and it's corresponding menu control- usually about 114kb. Also blank out BOTH the "Gearworks LionsGate moving logos 14MB in size. On the film Good Luck Chuck, there exists a file near the bottom of vob blanker's main page that's 190Mb in size. DO NOT preview{ this file froze my pc when opened. It is a sleeper subroutine that makes shrink, recode and the rest of the transcoders read file TOO large to compress } This file MUST be blanked.
4)Use dvd shrink ( I like to output to iso file )
5) burn iso file with imgburn
6) Enjoy!

What appears to be happening is that if the movies cannot be protected, then why not introduce subroutines into the moves tha a stand alone dvd player cannot read, but a pc can and act on as a endless loop subroutine that ties up all tha resources of the pc ( Ii know as the 190Mb file in GLC made my core 2 duo processor go to 100%CPU usage- used task manager )

Thanks, iluvendo:

Your way worked so much better than mine! My way worked as long as I watched the movie on my computer. But, as soon as I burned it to DVD, everything went haywire. The DVD tried to load, then stopped. If I hit Play, it would start the movie, but no menues or extras.

Does this method work for 3:10 to Yuman, also? I haven't tried to rip it, yet. Thanks. Angelus.

It should, and as I recall, there is no 190Mb file in it. But the same method works actually on all movies.

BTW an hearty You are Welcome.

After ripping this movie, I ran it through PgcEdit. It found over 150 uncalled PGC's and a few other minor problems. I then ran it through FixVTS and now have a clean rip.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I also normally run everything through FixVts before transcoding. With this title i also ran it in Deep Analysis before transcoding and burning. Flawless copy.
