yeah, i downloaded the file SID[1].4.0.NKnave.Edition.Xbox-Hq and tried to drag it to the memory card but the action replay program said that it wasnt an xbox save. how to i get it to work.

Wow! It worked flawlessly! Thank you so much! And now I've got a SNES and N64 emulator installed so I don't have to lug around my good ol' SNES/N64 - just my XBox :).

error 21 with sid 4.0????? or did you see error 22 with the skull? if it says press A then do so ...
this doesnt sound like sid 4.0 whY? cuz u said no more ms dash and error 21 ... what did you do or he????

Gus there's a link in your sig that says MSDASH5960, its a RAR file. After I softmod I can replace my C drive with that to update my Dash right. But if I do update my Dash using this method I'd have to remove the Softmod and apply it again (but thats only if i'm using Sid4.5???).

why would you want to use the ms dash???? sid 4 hides C on purpose if you want to go to live just power it on via open eject tray it should load ms dash

No i wasnt talking about Sid 4 i was talking about Sid 4.5, and I think it was you who mentioned, i'm not sure if it was you but someone mentioned, that Sid 4.5 needs Dash 5960.
And is there any advantage of installing Sid 4.5 over Sid 4.

well i'd perfer sid 4.0 because 4.0 is very protective on xbox so that newbies or un expercied xbox modders wont break their xbox and end up with a brick paper weight... sid 4.5 is a little less feature on protecting the box but its still better then any other softmod out there to date.... however 4.5 is less buggyer then 4.0 and i would recommond 4.5 for PAL users and and its a bit better for xbl users since you can now network stuff .... but eiterh is fine . altho you or him would not run into this error if you had sid 4.0

Hmm.. I do have a PAL Xbox so I could go for SID4.5 but SID4 is safer you say. I dont think I'm gooing to be using XBL too soonso SID4 would be a good option. And if i were do feel like using XBL I can always remove the softmod and install SID4.5. One more question. You mentioned about SID6.6.6 a few days back how much better is it compared to 4.5?

both 4.0 and 4.5 can do xbox live , when your ready to play xbl unisntall the softmod BUILD the gamertag BEFORe softmoind back on sid 4.0 if u wnat to put 4.5 then you do not need to make the gamertag first. but either one is fine just uninstall it and from their evryting is cake. 6.6.6 well i would say that nknaves or new one hes making but doesnt matter as its all the same ( 6.6.6 was the first one nknave him self did b4 4.1 or 4.0 or 4.5 came to exsisten)
ask him on hq what diffrense between 4.0 4.5 and 6.6.6 but i doulbt theirs any diffrnse

you have a great walkthrough.
i followed it step by step EXACTLY how you said it, i read each instruction twice.
but when i click create MS Backup it says
"Batch process failed. The last item was: FOUND MODDED FILES. Action: Rename"
i deleted every single modded file from my xbox. deleted the halo maps and haven't downloaded them again yet. deleted linux files from previous tutorials. and tried everything i could. can you please help me. any help would be really great

oh yea and i forgot to mention i did some softmodding about a year ago then uninstalled it. and just yesterday i used SID 3 and today i decided to switch to 4 and got this message
could that be part of the problem?
any help would be great thanks agaaaaaain

so now i have a bigger problem...i went out of town and my xbox somehow got the power to it turned off...so now instead of error 13 i get error 16...what can i do to fix this?

for error 16 only solution is to do a " hotswap w/out an eeprom" fellow the tut under my sig, no other way ......
as for the guy with the found modded files ,,, this is an easy easy fix /..... when you load linux just FTP a FRESH ms dash RETAIL i mean ... on xbox hq theirs a member called pirrup he has the latest ms dash...
you would need to FTP to C and OVERwrite evertying in there... BEWARE if you turn it off and dont have a ms dash on C your xbox will boot with error 21 .
to get ur ip on linux look 4 da menu settings and alter ur ip

hey, i have a few questions. i made this adaptor that converts an xbox controller port to usb so i can hook a flash drive up to my xbox so could i just use windows explorer instead of action replay to put the linux files onto the flash drive and use the flash drive to put it on my xbox? if nout could i find the action replay program to put the file on my flash drive without the ar memory card? and will i still get banned from halo 2 matchmaking if i only use mods in custom games?

as long as you get your hacks to the xbox then any method is fine , as for the mods its either RETAIL or banned... the word retail means noting mods or maps or hacks or explotis... retail ! good luck :)

usualy you dont un zip the laucher or the game save .... but like i said if it fits ( cuz once uncompressed is bigger!) and you can transfer it .. from their the rest is cake . but its better to have rar both files. of course the first main root must be opend to acess the other 2 files

hey gus im back, but this time its a legit help!
i have a WD OEM xbox HD. FTP-ed to pc.made isowin cd.
open up my MAXTOR HD (250)(i read on some site my HD wont lock)(my model is 5A250J00803R2)anyways i went into HDMAKER and went straight to option 1 building a hd from scratch (no i didnt unlock it first)then i built my C drive E drive, even an F drive.k
so i rebooted, tried to lock it, but said, something like "this device does not support ATA secruity spec. and all the options were no. like security enabled-no, locked-no, etc, i think there were like 5.
anywho i pop this baby into the xbox and gives me error 5. and i read about it, i need to lock my HD,BUT I CANT! from this site: http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list&v_brand=Maxtor&v_modelnum=5A2...
can u guys help me
ps everything was a success, i just hope the only problem is trying to lock the HD. thanks
