I tried your instruction. But test port didn't test successfully. What should I do for this?
My IP add from command prompt is 10.0....(Localarea network)162.168..(wireless network) but in system information of speedtouch ip add is 58.163.... which one should I use?
when I connect to eMule and check connect information the eD2k Ip port is always 58.163....4660 Kad IP port is 58.163...4670 and soon disconnected.
in speedtouch there is no section call portfoward is it same as NAPT?
Please help.

Kulith, the reason your IP changed is that you are set up with a dynamic IP. if you don't set your PC to a static IP, then each time you restart your PC, your IP may change (this is common when using multiple PC's). to change it, you should set a different IP (static) for each PC in your house. you can do this in the Network Connections menu.

oh, and be certain to set your IP(s) to ones within your router's range.

yamayama, i must apologize, as i forgot that your modem may get an IP as well, so what i said about the IP range would only apply to the modem's IP...

that being said, the test that said your ed2k port was was accurate in determining what your actual assigned IP was (58.163....). this is the one that eMule sees first.

also, whatever you set the TCP and UDP in eMule's settings, you need to set in your firewall's port forwarding. the ports you mentioned are fine, but you need them set in eMule, in your modem's firewall, and in Windows' ICF settings.

let us know how it works for you.

edit:
if you need your manual, it is here
it's quite the complex deal to change settings, in my opinion, and apparently, that brand has been since bought out by Thomson, and they don't make that model anymore. just an fyi.

Darkflux, how do I set it as static. I couldnt find it under properties or settings.

And emule still tells me It cant perform the test, it tells me:

Quote:
Starting TCP connection test...
TCP connection test failed because eMule rejected the connection.
It is possible that your IPFilter includes the IP of this server, making a connectiontest impossible.
Connection test finished.
Edited the nt in couldnt...

yamayama what you said about the Test Ports not working thats OK because you have not finished everything. It may work if all firewalls are truely turned off. Just ignore and go to the next step.

Did you complete the entire instructions?

Kulith, if you're using a "wired" (read: NOT wireless) setup, then in your Network Connections menu in the Control Panel, right-click the "Local Area Connection" which your internet uses, and choose Properties. click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", then Properties, and change the tick box from Automatic to "Use the following IP Address", and type in a custom IP within your firwall's range. this should do the trick, but it needs to be a different IP on each PC.

yamayama, a couple things:
according to the User Guide for your SpeedTouch (on the link i posted), you can access the modem in Internet Explorer by typing 10.0.0.138 in the Address Bar.
NAPT (also known as NAT), is NOT the setting to adjust for Port Forwarding. try the "Static Routing" tab in the modem access page in IE. they talk about it in Chapter 2.2 of the User Guide. it doesn't go TOO in-depth about it, so without any actual shots of it, it's hard to give more detailed explanation...

eMule is giving me a error now: Warning DonkeyServer No1 (62.241.53.16:4242) - Your 4662 port is not reachable. Please review your network config.

I recently enabled protocol obfuscation, does this have anything to do with it? Some1 told me to enable it cause its safer...

Kulith sounds like you don't have your router port forwarded either at all or correctly.

You need to ensure you router is allowing TCP and UDP Traffic to pass through.

Plus, if you're running WinXP SP2 you need to ensure WinXP firewall is configured to do the same.

did you happen to try the instructions i posted above on this page on 10. March 2007 @ 20:13? it explains how to port forward the router and firewall.

let us know...

Kulith, if you're not using port 4662 in your eMule saettings, then you can safely ignore that message. otherwise, i aggre with everything pun1 just said ;)
it's the SERVER you're connected to, NOT eMule, that's giving that message. see, some servers are set up to check if a specific port (usually the default ports) are "open" (whether or not you use the defaults), most likely to get the uninitiated interested enough to GET INFORMED!

like i said, if you aren't using that port (either on TCP or UDP), then just disregard it. if you ARE, try punisher1's list :)

I was using port 4662 but I followed punishers guide and changed it to 4660, I had 4662 opened in my router firewall and windows firewall, I just followed the same exact steps I did before and now its back up and working again, high ID. thx punisher.

Oh, and when it was giving me that error before, I still had a High ID in emule, but I wasnt able to download anything above 5 kb/s. Probably a false high id then.

remember the instructions you gave me to make a static ip? Well I followed them and when I rebooted I was not able to connect to internet. I was able to connect to a server on emule, and receive a wireless signal, but fore some reason internet explorer wasnt letting me go anywhere. Right now its back to "obtain IP adress automatically".

Now, however, unlike before, my port-tests are succesfull. In the punishers guide there was one thing I didnt know I had to do, the other guide I followed the first time didnt say anything about this part:
Quote:
8. Now click on the Advanced Tab (next to the Exceptions tab).
9. Under the section: Network Connection Settings, Click the Settings button.
10. Check the list to see if you have two entries for eMule TCP and/or UDP if they are not listed then proceed to step 11. Remember, only do this step if neither TCP or UDP entries are in the list. If there are two entries in the list click the TCP option and edit it. Enter either the name or the IP Address of your computer. (If you are using more than one computer on your router you may want to use the name of your computer because your IP Addresses could change between other PC?s on your network during reboots).
For the TCP option make sure Port 4660 is entered for both internal and external.
Now Click the UDP option and edit it. Enter the same info you entered for your TCP (computer name or IP Address) and ensure Port 4670 is entered for both internal and external. Skip to step 20.
Start here only if the two emule ports are not in the list.
11. Click the Add button (only do this step if there are no TCP or UDP entries in the list).
12. In the Description of Service enter: emule TCP Ports
13. On the next line enter either the name of your computer or your IP Address (If you are using more than one computer on your router you may want to use the name of your computer because your IP Addresses could change between the other PC?s on your network during reboots).
14. For both Ports (internal and external) entries use 4660, make sure TCP is selected
15. Click OK
16. Click the Add button again
17. In the Description of Service enter: emule UDP Ports
18. On the next line enter either the name of your computer or your IP Address
19. For both Ports (internal and external) entries use 4670, make sure UDP is selected
20. Click the OK buttons to exit out
21. Close out of the Control Panel

Since I had never done that, that might be why it was acting kind of queer. Seems as if we got things sorted out now.

Edit: Another question, I used to search for things in emule and I get 20billion results, now if I type something simple in like: "a" I only get 20-30 results, its really bugging me, I cant find files or anything anymore. Anything to do with protocol obfuscation...?

hmm, you should DEFINITELY be getting at least 150 results simply searching "a"... check how many servers are in your servers list. you should have at least 50 using that link i posted. if you have MORE than 50 servers and are still getting few results, check in your settings, under Security > Protocol Obfuscation. uncheck "Allow obfuscated connections only" if it is checked. the only boxes i have checked on that screen are "Enable Protocol Obfuscation" and "Enable secure identification".
as for the Internet Explorer issue (with static IP), try going to Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings...
uncheck all boxes. if "Automatically detect settings" is already "unchecked", try "checking" it. this usually works (in my experience, anywayz).
let me know if this works...

Ok, well I have this damn LowID problem also. First off, it's really annoying when I lose over 40% of my sources because of "Cannot connect LowID to LowID". I've pretty much tried everything to fix this problem, but I have yet to find a solution. Let me give some background, I have a dynamic IP-Address, I have a Westell Model 6100 router, and I've tried all the tech-support in the world! I am trying to use the TCP port as 48002 and the UDP as 49858, (I read that higher numbers were more unlikely to be blocked by my ISP). I rarely see LowID connects within the eDonkey network, the main problem is the Kad network. However both of the networks are connecting with LowID. Please help me, I've tried everything under the sun, you guys are my last hope!

Thanks!

SercertX I guess it wouldn't hurt to try this. It has worked for me and others but not everyone. Although, sometimes ISP's block P2P, sometimes you can call your ISP and ask. Sometimes they tell you and sometimes they don't.

Even though i'm using a Linksys WRT54G Router your Westell 6100 should have the basic port forwarding too. I recommend trying the ports in the instructions. If all that and still lowid then go back and wherever you entered ports 4660/4670 and try your ports. or visa-versa.

In order for this to work you need to do every step.
This is a lengthy process. You may want to PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
1. Open emule and click the Options button on the Toolbar.
2. Click Connection
3. Change the TCP default Port to 4660.
4. Change the UDP default Port to 4670.
5. Click Apply.
6. Click the Test Ports Button. A window will open and display both ports tested successfully. But, if they don?t work it may only be because you have not fully configured everything yet.
7. Notice the button that says Open these ports on internal WinXP firewall. IF the button is grayed out go to next step. IF the button is not grayed out click it. In a couple of seconds it should give you confirmation window that will pop up and then click OK
7. Click OK at the bottom.
8. Close eMule.

This step adds Networking Services to WinXP.
1. Go to the Control Panel
2. Click on Add/Remove Programs
3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components
4. Scroll down and click on Networking Services
5. Click the Details button
6. Check the box for: Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client (this option may already be checked).
7. Check the box for: UPnP User Interface
8. Click OK then click Next***Note***You may be required to provide your Windows XP CD.
9. Click Finish.
10. Close the Add/Remove and Control Panel Windows.

If you are running Windows XP SP2 you need to do the following. If you are not running SP2 then you can skip this next step.
1. Go to the Control Panel
2. Click Windows firewall
3. Click the Exceptions tab
4. Click the Add Programs button, Scroll down and select Emule. ***If emule is not listed then browse to: C:\Program Files\emule\emule.exe and select emule.exe.
5. Click OK
6. Click Add Port. For the name put Emule TCP and enter the Port 4660. Make sure TCP is selected.
7. Click Add Port. For the name put Emule UDP and enter the Port 4670. Make sure UDP is selected.

This step is only if you are using a Router of somekind.
I have successfulley tested this using Linksys routers. I have not tried this on any other brand router. If you are using a router, other than a Linksys router, I recommend you do this next step anyway. Most routers are similiar in Port Forwarding.
1. Go to a command prompt and type: IPCONFIG write down or note your IP Address.
2. Login to your router
3. If Linksys click on the Advanced tab
4. Next click on the Forwarding tab
5. Enter the following settings:
TCP 4660 To 4660 TCP 192.168.1.XXX (your IP Address) Enable(checkbox)
UDP 4670 To 4670 UDP 192.168.1.XXX (your IP Address) Enable(checkbox)
If you have more than one computer on your network you can repeat step 5 and enter a second IP address. Here is an example how your router could look if you have more than on computer on your router. This way if your computer?s IP Address changed from .100 to .101 on the next reboot it would not matter because you have both IP's configured in the router.
TCP 4660 TO 4660 TCP 192.168.1.100
UDP 4670 TO 4670 UDP 192.168.1.100
TCP 4660 TO 4660 TCP 192.168.1.101
UDP 4670 TO 4670 TCP 192.168.1.101
6. Click the Apply button
7. Logout of your router.

After this is complete Windows XP should automatically install a network Gateway in your Network Connections configuration.REBOOT your computer. A reboot usually is required to start the Network Connections configuration.
That?s it your done. I recommend you reboot especially if you still are getting a LOWID. Open emule and see if you can connect at HighID.
If you still do not connect it may be because you are using a different router. I?m using a Linksys router but, again, the settings are basically the same.

If after the reboot and still a LOWID i suggest going back through the instructions to ensure you didn't miss or enter something incorrectly such as a typo in the Port settings.

If you are still not able to connect with HIGH ID then i would say your ISP is blocking or something with them is a hinderance.

Despite what others say regarding my fix, remember, not all systems are the same. You have to find what works for your system. It works for me and for other?s I?ve helped.
Sorry, if this was not a help.

..ignore the KAD thingy, switch it off, from personal experience the emule folks are toooo kad-addicted and it appears, imo, to serve no useful purpose if you don't have/fulfill the archane requirements of the KAD program, so milk the system till they learn better,

..ie; just use emule without KAD, it works just as well, and sod the KAD, altho it may put extra stress o the enule servers, from recent discussions that's cool, when it collapses we'll get something else..

..i'm not saying bunch of not-future thinking dick-heads, of course...

SercertX, check your router's settings and see if it's Gateway IP (not the one you connect to it with [192.168.1.1, or whatever], but the one that your ISP assigns it, which probably changes) is between any of the following:

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)

if it is, then your ISP has you blocked from eMule via their rerouting process, and it isn't possible to get eMule thru THAT.
if you are unsure where the IP is listed, you can check your router's manual at http://www.dslreports.com/faq/bellsouth/..._2200_6100_Info
should be under "Statistics".

you should try using a 4-digit port number, til you can get it working. some routers can't "handle" 5-digit port numbers (even though they accept you typing them in!). don't know for sure if Westell does or not, just thought i'd mention it.

if Kad is the main source of the issue, keep in mind that Kad relies on UDP in order to work at all, so your UDP settings may be the issue (especially if you've had High ID on regular servers before).

edit: you're quick as a rabbit at posting before me awr ;)

the rabbit's right, SercertX. just DROP Kad. i'm unable to use it and you get more results from the donkey servers than with it anyways...

punisher1: Thanks for spending sometime trying to help me, I've tried everything in your reply and still haven't been able to get it working. I've rebooted the router, PC, etc. multiple times, and also tried getting the settings in several times. :(

justawr: 90% of the sources for my files are from the Kad network.

darkflux: I will be doing check on all those things, I need clear something up, I've been using eMule for over 3 years and I have never had high ID. I've tried switching ISP's everything in-between those 3 years, and still nothing as worked. Now I am at a point where I am not going to even use eMule until I get this problem solved, (it takes almost a week for a file to download, due to all the sources being lost to LowID).

I don't know if this makes a difference but I'm using Windows 2000 so it's not like it's the XP firewall or anything. By the way, does it matter whether your connection is Static or Dynamic?

Thanks.

Wait hold the phone -- it's fixed now! I really don't even know exactly what I did but I screwed with pretty much everything and now it finally works! I had to enable something called "Static Nat" and then foward a local IP to my computer. Now it works!!!!!! After 3 very long years of having lowID!!!! Thanks guys for giving some help, your tips were the main solution!

Thanks again, cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay, i was confused. i thought that when you said
Originally posted by SercertX:

you meant that
Originally posted by SercertX:

was the update.

okay, that changes my perception of everything. you still should check that stuff, it's just that now i know what's going on.

when you search for a file, right-click one of the results, and "copy ed2k links". paste that into the search field and search again. sometimes i get more results this way.

it's easier to use static, especially if you have multiple PC's, as the IP of your PC may change after reboot with Dynamic, and your router will get "confused" as to where to send the eMule data.

......i guess i'm just taking toooo long writing my posts, lol, another one beat me!

yup, like i said static IP's (or Static NAT Routing) are easier to use :)

congrats, and enjoy!
