are verbatim 8x DVD-R shiny silver selling in supermediastore made in japan? and how are the quality?
i have taiyo yuden, but my burner stopped recognizing them all of the sudden. i have tried everything including upgrading firmware, nothing worked so i decided to change disc.

there are too many dvds and i just couldn't figure out which one is good. i know verbatim is good, but there are so many different versions.

 thanks.

thats good that they're yuden coded.booktyping is easy with Nero.open Nero express or startsmart.select burn image.then when you open the image you want to burn click settings beside where it says your dvd drive.then at the bottom it says booktype settings and make sure its on automatic so when you burn with Nero and a DVD+R it will automatically booktype.hope that helped.

This guide helped me out a lot but I still have a question about discs. My PS2 is a version 1, 2, or 3 and I saw in Tokijin's guide that V4s and up should get DVD+R and booktype them to DVD-ROM. If my DVD Burner can booktype it to a DVD-ROM, should get DVD+R or instead get DVD-R?

not necessary, i use the DVD dash R being there less expensive online (Taiyo Yuden) and don't have problems with them. the compound is different with the DVD plus R and some say there superior I'm not convinced. so it comes down to you're setup and preference. you can read this article its informative.
 DVD-RW" target="_blank">http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Why-DVDRW-is-superior-to-DVD-RW

copy and paste the link in you're brower, linking it won't work sorry

I bought a pack of Sony DVD-R and check the their code using DVD identifier and DVD Decrypter and it came out to be MCC 03RG20 (Mitsubishi Chemical Corp) which is, according to this guide, a second grade media.
My question is, isn't it supposed to be mitsubishi written on top of the dvd?

Anyway, that's why a media code alone is not enough to verify if discs are real or fake. As to verifying TY discs this is really easy as you can check the inner hub codes (the codes near the centre of the actual disc, see here for info -i just bought a pack of 100 taiyo yudens from ukdvdr.com and the media id is TYG02 is i checked the first post and it said that these where fakes? is that a definate for all tygo2's or jus a couple of batches?
