LOL thanks :)

Learned the harday, i used to be one of "them" who didnt think twice about media and would buy the 1000 pack of Memosux for 50 bucks, and thought they where the sh!t lol.....but then i made a coaster, then another one......and the ones that did work started not to work 9 months later :(

At this point, 100 TYG02's cost like 25 bucks, so there is no reason or logical justification to buy cheap arse media when the best of the best cost around .25 cents a piece.

Hmmm...But the original game doesn't wear out the laser. How come? I am just wondering what the difference is. Could anybody tell me? You mean in this world, the best media or DVD or CD-R is Yuden? No other media is better than Yuden?

Kenryuakuma. Need help as always

LOL the first page of this thread tells you the best media, no need to go over it again. AND YES, PRESSED GAMES WEAR OUT THE LASER ALSO!!! The fact that the laser is in use means its slowly wasting away, only thing you can do is use good media.

OMG! i've got the same dvds.. i haven't seen them here as well but they are first class dvds. They don't mess up, and they run flawlessly. Been using them for a long time as well. You're like the first person i've seen on here who has posted that they use Panasonic DVD's lol.

Hi, is there any way to tell if taiyo yuden or verbatim dvds are the real deal on ebay shops such as 'BuyBlankMedia'. I know its a risky way to buy this stuff and should be avoided but i can't find any site that delivers out of the uk. (alternitavely maybe could you recommend a site that delivers to the rest of europe?). Thanks

mate, If I was you, I would just go down to my local "Currys" or "PC World" or "Woolworths" and buy the DVD's from there.

I got my Panasonic 16x DVD-R's (25 Disc Spindle) from Currys for £7.49.

Panasonic DVD-R's are manufactured by Taiyo Yuden and the disc ID is TYG03. They run flawlessly. :)

Ok thanks I think I found somewhere to buy some from. Will taiyo yuden DVD-R work just as well as +r for ps2 backups?

They will work just as good, but +R, if you have a DVD burner capable of booktyping(the brands are mentioned on the first page), has a better compatibility, but you can't use those on Version 1 to 3 PlayStation 2s as those have problems to read DVD+Rs. I have personally tried Sony DVD+Rs with Taiyo Yuden dye(8X) on a Lite-On burner, one of the brands that supports booktypes, and the game I burnt works perfectly on a Version 14 slim.
I also have a question of my own. Are HL-DT-ST burners LG brand burners? I have a CD reader(I know this is not the CD forum, but I need to know if it applies to DVD burners too) that's made by LG, and is identified by HL-DT-ST on my computer. Does the same apply to LG DVD burners(I'll be changing my computer soon, and the one I want to buy has an HL-DT-ST burner installed)? Also, are TSSTcorp burners good, or are those garbage(do they have booktype support?)?

My console collection: Version 14A PlayStation 2(chipped), Version 7 PlayStation 2, PlayStation(both models), Wii, Gamecube, N64, Super NES(original from US and Japan and Mini), NES(front and top loader)Model 1 & 2 Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Atari 2600, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Master System(Model 1 and 2), Atari Flashback 1 & 2, FC Twin(2 in 1 NES/Super NES clone), GN Twin(2 in 1 NES/Genesis clone), Atari 7800, Intellivision II, TurboGrafx 16, GameBoy Color

I have a TSSTcorp TS-L632B in my laptop, and i thinks its awesome, its all i use to make backups, and no i cannot booktype. Kind of a let down, but after 75+ perfect ps2 backups, guess its really not that big of deal. As for the LG question, i have no idea in hell lol :/

LOL, I have the same burner, its awesome, I've tried booktyping and it works perfectly with the LiteOn burner. At first when I got my computer, I thought ahh they put a crappy burner in, then once coming to this forum and reading some posts I realised that Liteon was one of the best brands for burning and booktyping :D

hi, ive been using sony 8x DVD-R (SONY08D1) at 4x and they have worked fine. i have recently got sony 16x DVD-R (SONY16D1). I just wanna know if these 16x dvd-r's will cause any damage or strain to the ps2 laser, are they good to use, and should i burn these at 4x also like before, or at a different speed? any help appreciated. thanks.

Yo i use the +R and they work great. just like the real game. I wouldnt even try -R but i do have a pretty new slimline ps2. So I wouldnt know. When I was using vertbuim it make a lot of clicking noise and took forever to load so i stop use those crap(but not for movies) and changed to sony DVD+R X16with accuCORE at x4 speed. I dont play movies on my ps2 and u should never use it to...

Can someone clearify something... I use verbatium disks that I get from my local sams club. I went to the verbatium web site and noticed that they make a blue & silver bottoms. They use Advanced Azo recording dye.
http://www.verbatim.com/products/product...nt=StorageMedia

I have been told to use the DVD-R with the blue bottom. I have had two lasers fail. What would be your thoughts? Is the silver better than the blue? I have read this thread trying to figure this out.

Thanks

I know all these other people may tell you otherwise but just use "Sony" DVD+r's to play backups of your "Sony" games its there more to say.

hello evry1,

quick question, does any1 know a good reliable UK based site that sell Blank media????

it would be preferable that they sell Taiyo Yuden
or the TYG0x range....

(the media will be used for backing up home vid's/pics and PS2 games)

also, are the TYG02 better than TYG03, although its just the burn speed that is different, i have read different reviews for both, i have also looked on videohelp and done forum searches but had no luck.

NOTE: i have a Lite-on SHW16H5S dvd writer
and v5 ps2

I recently bought a few cheap DVD-R singles on the way home from a shop Ive never been to before, and he gave me these funny DVDs with flowers on them, their brand being LS-MEDIA. When I checked them on DVD identifier, it told me they were made by Taiyo Yuden and the disc ID is TYG02. So even though they look funny, am I to understand that these are very high quality media, and perfect for backing up my PS2 games?

I've always used Ritek Dvd-R's (The ones with the purple dye on the bottom), however I am now wondering if I should switch to a new media? I have over 100 games backed up on this media and they have always given me little to no problems. I have a Nec ND-3550A with a v9 ps2 (previously had a v3).

So I have a bunch of Sony 16x. But this guide says that burning at 4x with 16x DVD is BAD. As in wear out laser faster bad? Should I reburn my games? (I have more than enough disks.) at 12x?

Also, I am kinda afraid to use my Verbatim +R DLs:MKM001. Apparantly they are first class disks. I have a PSTwo v15. Its impossible to find good -R DLs around here (Kingston, Ontario) and I have games I wanna play.

I just don't want my laser to die, replacing it would be a hell I don't want to go through
