Hey,
I read as much of this forum as I could, but there's so many pages it's hard to go through. I recently purchased a data cable off ebay, but the CD that it came with is not the original. It's a burnt copy. My CD rom for my PC won't read burnt copies. I need to download the drivers for the USB cable that I need, as well as the software so I can use the cable..e.g. transfer photo's to and from the phone, possible ringers and stuff. I have the V220 obviously, and my system runs on Windows 98. I tried some of the links that were posted, but either I'm doing something wrong, or they're just not working. Can anyone help me out? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yeah, I dont know if I have to uninstall everything that I've downloaded and start again, cause I had downloaded MPT (this is MobilePhone Tools right?) but I still had to figure out the drivers. Now I have I think two different drivers for the phone that I downloaded, but I dont think they're the right ones. cause nothing's still working.

Thank you for posting your great directions on getting started with the V220 data cable. I had been trying for 6 hours using the 'directions' given to me by the peron I got it from.
I wondered if I could ask for some help please? I want to delete the phone's own ringtones etc and I can see from the previous posts that you can do this using MPT or P2Kman.
My problem is that MPT doesn't recognise my phones own tones etc and P2Kman keeps telling me that the phone is not connected.
I would really appreciate some advice please.
Many thanks, Angel

This is one thing that i have not yet figured out myself yet. I know that the ringtones that come with the phone are locked, if you like, in to the phone and having tried through the phone itself and MPT, i have been unsuccessful both times.
I do have a couple of other software programmes that i have downloaded and installed that i will try, i know i have P2KTools so i will try that.
I tried ages ago to no availe and have not attempted since, i will give it a go and let you know how i get on It will save you downloaded it and installing it if it doesn't work.
Will report soon
xx

HELP! I want to take the pictures from my V220 and put them on the computer. I bought the cable, but need some type of software. I erroneously bought software that goes the OTHER way -- allows me to download pictures from my PC onto the camera. Does anyone know where to get the software to go from V220 to PC?

Hit My Media Button
Select the Pictures Icon
Scroll down to the picture you want and hit view button
Hit the center button, looks like it has a screw on it.
(This will give you the Picture Menu)
Scroll down to delete and select.

Gem20, great write up and I was able to duplicate everything until it came to installing the MPT files. I extracted the file as suggested but when I ran the internal set-up it gave me an error of not being able to locate an earlier version. I tried the same process with MPT2.16 and received the same error. Anyone have thoughts, tips or suggestions?

First of all, thanks to you all for the instructions. I've installed it before and it had worked perfectly.
I've formatted my pc a while ago so I installed it again but this time I got a "Unhandled Exeption"-error which was shown at the last part of the setup's "mmpt_1.23c_EN"
See pic !
So the setup terminated and nothing was installed, I tried other setups on the site but none of them worked...
Anyone has a clue how to fix this error?
Thanks a bunch

Does nobody read the actual thread before posting questions? Cos most of the questions posted within the past week, have been answered many, many times before. I'm sorry for ranting but i wish people would take the time to read the thread before posting questions that are answered within the first few pages.
vlwilson -
The links and instructions to installation can be found below this post in my signature, click on the blue web address and it will take you straight to that link,
Habibi,
Did you use my download links and use the 1.23 version? You will have to go in to a bit more detail, if i am to help you. Did you follow the instructions closely?
And by duplicating, do you mean downloaded? You can do it by downloading all the files first, before starting to install the software.
Also which OS do you use?
BBoy4Joy,
Sorry that is one thing i have not mastered myself yet.
I'm not all that into games so i'm afraid have not come across the need to find out how to do it.
Maybe someone else knows, try looking through the other threads - click on Forums on the blue tabs (along the top of the page). Some one else may have asked that questions in another thread.
However, you could try unzipping them to see if there are any more files hidden inside and look for a installation application file.
sugalove,
You obviously have not read the instructions properly. When you get this 'ERROR' dialouge box, when the installation of the 1.23v is nearly complete, all you need to do is hit CNTL+ALT+DEL and end the task through the task manager. This will prevent the set-up from terminating and uninstalling.
And last but not least
Angel1972
I sorry but i couldn't get my other software applications to work properly so i couldn't find out whether you can delete the original ringtones from the phone.
Try looking through the other threads, they might have some answers.
Hope this helps everyone

There are instructions and download links in my signature, below this post.
Click on the link for *****HOW TO INSTALL MOBILE PHONE TOOLS*****, it gives you simple instructions on how to install MPT from the beginning and tells you where and what to download. Follow these carefully and it will work with no problems.

i've downloaded everything i need: MPT v1.23, MPT v2.21 and the
P2K Driver. When I try to install the v1.23 it takes ages to detect and setup my phone, ages as in 5+ hours. in the end I couldn't be bothered any more. So then I try the Mpt v2.21- (cause when I bought my phone they had a Mobile PhoneTools cd, it just wouldn't work) it looks like it's fine. I get to the part where i can see the screen split into two, where one side is my computer and the other is my phone... but then the my phone part is empty. when i try to send something to my phone it says phone is disconnected or whatever. i've already checked that i've plugged it in properly and im using the P2K driver but it still doesn't work. No matter how many times i try to install the v1.23 the error message thing won't come up. Could someone please help me? Thanks in advance.

I know how you feel about people not reading the entire thread, no matter how long! What they don't understand is just how much valuable info is contained there.
Anyway....I have an issue that can't seem to be resolved.
I have 2 Motorola V220 phones, both ordered at the same time. On 2 different computers only 1 of them will be detected properly. It is the same phone every time, the other just won't work. It obviously isn't something "simple" related to software. Both phones are using the 5-pin USB cable. Do you have any ideas as to what may be going on here???
Thanks!

Hills,
If the error msg doesn't not come up, it is not bad, it's good!! I only included that in the instructions just incase it did happen.
And if the drivers and everything is set up correctly then it should work okay.
I have re-edited my **HOW TO....*** thread. Take another look at it, it may help you.
You see, you do not need to use v1.23 to install and setup your device on, in fact you do not even need to go into that version at all.
Do not let the application start, cancel it and install the v2.16 update. This way you can use the v2.16 to install and setup your device on. Then when that is done, use the Live Update to install up to, probably about v3.25, that's what i am currently on - through using the Live Update option.
Try it this way and let me know what happens.
Nucleus,
Are you sure you have your drivers installed properly?
How did you get the software? Did you download it or get it from a CD?
And are both computers running on the same OS? You will have to give me a few more details for me to be able to help.
Have you read the **HOW TO....** thread? The link is in my signature below. This may give you a few pointers.
Hope this helps, a bit at least!!

Gem-
I've read plenty. Downloads from your sig using MPT 3.23. Like I said, it works...but, with only 1 of the 2 phones. The one phone will work on either computer (XP pro and home). It's the 2nd phone that won't be recognized at all making me think it must be something in the phone?
