actaully swap magic is slightly better on the laser since it doesnt use any extra voltage or anything. But it shouldnt make too much of a difference.
Currently playing

I also have the Taiyo Yuden Fujifilm DVD+R discs.
I can write them at 16x.
I wrote naruto 2, uzumaki ninden, bleach and saint seiya at this speed.
I have V9 PS2 with a Matrix Infinity Modchip.
I experience some choppy intro problems with naruto 2 and als choppy playing cut scenes with naruto 2 and saint seiya.
The uzumaki ninden intro totally freezes.
It must have something to do with the write speed.
What write speed do you suggest?
I have a Nec 3520A.

PS2 V5/6 (dunno which one)
Matrix Infinity
LG GSA-4120B
Ritek G04 (-R)
So far my PS2 haven't accepted any other brand but those Riteks (Verbatim, TDK, Princo... all no-no's) but a while ago I noticed that it doesn't read games I've burned lately: I remember I saw somebody somewhere telling that Ritek G04's had very bad quality loss in some batches, so maybe some discs in last bunch I bought were from bad patch. Since G04 is only brand that has worked for my console I would like to continue buying them, but I'm not sure can I trust them anymore: Can anyone tell more accurately about (or even confirm) quality changes, and was the problem in only some batches or has it been permanent?
I've heard positive comments about Ritek G05 but I would like to hear more about them, I must buy my discs from foreign country because prices in here are absolutely insane so I wouldn't really order couple of hundreds of them without knowing a little more about their trustworthiness.

have tried out Verbatim MCC003 as well as TDK TTG01. both are crap for my v12 slimline......am now using fake Taiyo Yudens DVD-R TYG02....surprisingly these discs work fantastic....same load times as originals, no choppy playback. i burn @ 4x using Nero on ASUS DRW-1608P. Not a single coaster or a bad burn !
Burnt 35 PS2 games.
Swapmagic 3.6 PAL, Magic Switch Pro.

i wont touch arita again. cheapy ritek. if you look at the back some have speckles on - that means in a year the disk is probably uncopyable. :(

Sorry to say this, but i go the cheap way and have stumbled upon a wonderful brand that is cheap.
K hypermedia DVD+R $17.99 for 100 at Office Max by me
All games have worked fine with a few exceptions, but i think that's because of the iso not the disc.
Slightly slower load times for games with long load times, otherwise, about the same as the original, I've burnt at speed 4x and this stays true as well.
v4 PS2 softmodded, Cogswap.

Slimline PS2 V12 with Flip Top Lid + Swap Magic 3.2
DVD`s i use are Ritek DVD+R 8x Full Surface Inkjet Printable
DVD Writer is Sony Combo DVD-RW DRU-510A
Burn all PS2 backups at x1 speed using DVD Decrypter
All backups play perfectly well, load up times are a matter of seconds..no skipping on cut scenes and sound is perfect.
