I keep getting the (ret = -10056) error... I have used Internet Explorer, then tried Firefox, tried doing the "save target as" from the previous post. I have run through all the options that I could find through searches. Anyone have any ideas for me?
UPDATE - I was finally able to get this to work using Safari. Only one in about 8 or so that I tried that worked.
Thanks

Ok, so the Safari browser got one game done. However everything since then will go through with the 4.3Mb downloaded, however the file size of the actual file is always less and of course if the file size is off even a single byte it wont work.
Anyone have any ideas on what would cause the file sizes to come out incorrect?
Thanks again

Hmm. The internet way seems unstable.
I transferred Wind Waker with no problems, but when I tried to transfer Melee, I got to about 32% before the connection died. When I tried again, I got to about 66% before the Wii froze.
:/
And this is with the much smaller gamecube games...

Before you do anything, you need to patch your Wii IOS firmware (I've tested it and it's safe as long as you do it as described).
-Obtain a copy of the original Wii IOS wad file (IOS37-64-v2070.wad)
Hint: Google for it.
Hello. Is this still needed? I notice this post was made a long time ago.

little help needed !
I have a wii on its way . I purchased it from a web store in China called www.blue-store.com . for $ 192.00 (including shipping ) I got this package .Nintendo Wii Console & Video Game System
5 Sport Games & 2 Controllers (1 Wii Remote, 1 Wii Nunchuk)
Wii Fit Game Balance Board + Games, Wii Music (Release: 10/20/2008,)
Wii Carnival Games: MiniGolf (Release: 10/20/2008) MARIO KART with Wheel Controller Includes Wii Play with 1 Extra Wii Remote Controller
Includes 1 Additional Nintendo Steering Wheel - Ready for 2 Player Action with Mario Kart .
What I am attempting to do prior to the wii arrival is to set up for this mod . I am attempting to do this with an external wd pasport 120 gig drive . I have placed the iso37-64-v2070 at the root of the drive , created a apps folder and a dvddumber folder under that , I have the boot.dol , icon and meta in that folder .
the next step says to boot the boot.dol file ? This is where I am stuck . do I attach the hdd to the wii and attempt to boot if from the wii console . clicking on the file with the hdd attached to my pc only gives me a " don't know how to open the file " error .
Thanks in advance for any help from a newbie

Does anybody know what the instructions to use for this network backup using a 4.2 softmodded wii? (I used Larrylje's method)
It appears that the instructions here is required to patch ios37 but the version given here does not seem to be compatible with 4.2U.
I dont have a LG DVD drive, so I would like to use this network backup instead if at all possible then use Larrylje's CGF load from USB HDD to load backup games.
Thanks.

I i nstalled the IOS37-64-v2070.wad file on my brand new Wii, and now the DVDDump program no longer loads up. I just get a black screen and have to reset my Wii.
All I want to do is make backups to blank DVD discs. Seems like it is a major undertaking for Wii. I'm using Neogamma to play backups, and it works with original game discs, but haven't been able to make a backup yet. What the hell am I doing wrong?

OK. I've browsed this thread and am ready to rock-and-roll. The one thing that I didn't see in my browsing is a discussion of risk. My Wii is brand new, which is a good time to back up my games, but in running through the Wii menus (or maybe the manual) I recall seeing something about modifications voiding the warranty.
I don't mind flying in the dark to make the backups, but the part about modifying the console software has me a little concerned. Is there some way that by working from the outside of the unit (software mods) that I can render my new toy a brick? Is there anything in the procedures that can't be undone?
