Did you do the full update with the dvd5?
yup i did sadly, semi-bricked (dual channel, can't go into config settings)
I would think the dvd9 will fire right up then.
You already have the update.
I did the 15% trick on the dvd5 so i didnt get the update.
Thats why i have to swap discs.
I just tried to swap them on the wriststrap screen and it worked.

So every backup and burning forum on the planet talks of brickblocker, to prevent backup copies from updating firmware on their wii.
Unfortunately, a search of the interweb yields no word of such a rare beast, save a single poorly-seeded torrent containing an ISO file with no instructions.
I'm sure i'm not the only one wondering where this brickblocker program is from and how it is implemented.
Thanks much.

(Also - any word on YoWii chips vs. SSBB NTSC-J?)

When you say swap you literally mean to do the following:
Eject the SSBB DVD5 Brick Blocked at the wrist strap screen
Afterwards, just insert the DVD9 disc when it asks for the game?

:( i really hope someone figures out how to fix the semi-bricked wii (configure settings) or hope that the US version will update the wii and fix everything.

If you eject the disc and put it back it in, the game will continue. the only time that wont work is when it says OFF somewhere in between the words. it happened to me, i ejected, put it back in and continued.

D2Ckey works fine with brawl. DVD5, DVD9 and origional disks all work fine. Only wiikey is having problems.

i don't know if wiikey will work on dl, i'm almost done burning now and will check.
If you want to play vs brawl only tonight then i suggest u make 2 copies of brawl, one with wiiblocker to block update an another without wiiblocker. dvd5 for both. I think dl on wiikey has yet to be solved so don't waste your time with that just yet.

anyone? Bueller? I've got a burned copy of nonpatched brawl, a copy of brawl waiting for a patch, a 10-15% updated wii, a recently installed mod chip, and solder on my (shaking) hands and floor.
Brickblock = hero.

So long as you're totally updated, you only need to brickblock if you want to avoid duplicate channels. I didnt bother becasue I've only bought 2 virtual console games anyway so extra news and weather channels mean nothing to me compared to getting to play brawl.

ok confirmed, DL version works on wiikey, played the SSE and watched a few videos from it already. No crash at all.
I've previously updated with the DVD5 single layer version, didn't do the 15% trick, got dupe channel and can't enter configuration settings. DVD9 dual layer works immediately when put in. Used a memorex dual layer DVD+R and burned at 2.4x.
Good luck everyone! :)

So basically right now the wiikey is the only modchip that you get duplicate channels by using the update, and for D2c, you won't get dups if you run the full update?
