I've previously updated with the DVD5 single layer version, didn't do the 15% trick, got dupe channel and can't enter configuration settings. DVD9 dual layer works immediately when put in. Used a memorex dual layer DVD+R and burned at 2.4x.

So long as you're totally updated, you only need to brickblock if you want to avoid duplicate channels. I didnt bother becasue I've only bought 2 virtual console games anyway so extra news and weather channels mean nothing to me compared to getting to play brawl.
So basically right now the wiikey is the only modchip that you get duplicate channels by using the update, and for D2c, you won't get dups if you run the full update?

oh no, spoke too soon. Not sure why the first few movies I watched works but not anymore. It didn't tell me to turn off the system, it has green text and probably just told me disc read error. Ejected the disc and put it back in and the movie plays a few seconds and the read error message pops back up again. I think this is a media issue, Im gonna try burning it slower as I don't have any other brand of dvd+r dl.

Sooooo all of the talk about bad dual layer support and the wiikey update talk is because the 'testers' who decided wiikey couldn't run it just had bad burns/bad media?!?

Has anyone else experienced this? I need to pick up some DL DVD +R discs tomorrow, so I won't have a chance to test it myself tonight.

the testers are probably more accurate because of their experience. im just desperate and want to play :) so im gonna try burning slower and a different media once i get the chance. i've had similar experience of this (media, burn speed) on previous wii games, so perhaps its just my wii system (launch), but it can also be wiikey issue. but either way posting these info would probably help those that are looking for solutions/alternatives.

ok now im from Australia and im pretty sure our wii systems here are Pal. i have the D2C mod in my wii.
So aslong as the game isnt the Jap version there will be no problems with the channels issue right???

If you do the 10-15% trick with the DVD5 disc and then simply switch the discs on boot up with the new DL disc there isn't a problem with having dual channels.

This just in:
WiiNewz can now confirm that the recently released full Dual Layer (DVD9) dump of "Super Smash Brothers Brawl" works fine on Wiikey, including PAL systems. Apparently, the chip has problems reading the original copy but a backup works fine. I guess everyone got their panties all in a bunch over nothing.

I understand that the WiiKey will boot the DL SSBB. I already did the 15% trick using the DVD5 version, so can I just burn a regular DVD9 version and do the swap (take out the brick blocked DVD5 and put in the DVD9) at the wiimote screen or will I need to regionfrii the DVD9?
Hopefully a new version of Brick Blocker will come out soon so that this swapping can be eliminated.

SSBB wont brick or semi brick your wii so long as the wii has updated since SMG came out. The worst it can do is give you dup channels. If you arent updated fully then it can brick the wii.
I beleive that you can have dup channels for every region. I've heard of people in europe having their normal PAL set of channels, an NTSC-U set of channels, and an NTSC-J set as well. Again though, having dup chanels dosent seem to effect the wii in any way.

I am a complete noob... I just finished downloading the ISO and I burn it and it wont play on my wii.. It doesent even read the disc... I updated my wiikey to 1.9g and it still wont read... what am I doing wrong?

i have three sets of weather and news channels. my wii is normal and every other way. i sort of wish i could delete them, but it is sort of funny at the same time. i have them all lines up in two columns. if i formatted my wii's memory would that get rid of them though do you think? i won't because i had previously spent money on vc channels but... just wondering ya know.

ok... when do I know when to swap??? and also when I download the HACKED config1.3 it gives me a .bat file.. how do I burn that to play on my wii?
