i'm not sure, the files that were on the root of the ms b4 i ran the Battery update are:
PSP *folder*
KD*Folder*
Registry *Folder*
msipl.bin
UPDATE.PBP
i've tried doing pandora once before using the orignal files (the manual stuff) but it got kinda confusing/alot of the CMD steps wouldnt work for some reason, especially the msipl.bin edit part. but there was no step on the easy installer guide that specified i had to install the firmware on the ms, since the KD and registry files were already there, i figured the step was already done for me (hence EASY installer lol)
am i wrong to have assumed that?

@Aridnyk
I had alot of problems with that stupid msipl.bin thing. omg. took me hours to figure it out. but the thing is that you put the folder on the desktop. and then do it that way instead.
PSP Firmware History:
2.71 -> Got PSP modded (Waste Of Money) 3.40 -> Downloaded DAX's 3.40 OE-A -> 1.5 -> 1.53 -> 1.5 -> 1.53 xD -> 1.5 -> 3.40 OE-A -> 1.5 -> 3.52 m33 -> 3.52 m33-2 -> 3.52 m33-3 -> 3.52 m33-4 -> 1.5 -> 3.52 m33-4 -> 1.5 -> 3.71 m33 -> 3.80 m33 ->3.80 m33-3 -> 3.80 m33-5 -> 1.5 -> 3.71 m33 -> 3.71 m33-4 -> 3.80 m33 -> 3.80 m33-5

i've tried that as well, with no success still... i'm discouraged to try anything else with the Pandora Battery because i only have 3 batteries and 2 psp's, one battery seems to be dead now...

Hmm. Well i think you should try it again, because it may have been just one step that you missed out on. Unless you want to try doing that pin thing with the "dead" battery. But you cant ask me about that. Idk how to hardmod :S

WTF ARE YOU GUYS DOING!!!!
the cmd is ONLY for the multiple ipl loader
the totalnewbie is a plug and play which is why i said DOES THE WORK FOR YOU
all you do is format the memstick on the PSP NOT PC
some memsticks wont read in the service mod with the PC FORMAT
the magic memstick didn't work cause you probably got an error message ant the end on the proccess
read my last post for the answer
remember you do NOT NEED THE CMD FOR TOTALNEWBIE EASY INSTALLER key word INSTALLER
I never forget what an elephant remembers
but I remeber what the elephant forgot

Originally posted by laz305: yo all the steps worked great but when i put them in a fat 3.51 all i get is a solid green power light and no screen action and i have pushed every button alot
i was having that same problem when i used the easy installer, and after hours of frustration/fear that i just destroyed my battery, i got it to work.
to get your battery back to normal, take the battery out of the psp, and turn it on via the charger cable, then when it turns on and the xmb's pop up, put the battery back in, and go into the "Battery Creator" on the game, then press Square to get it to convert it back into a normal battery.
To finally get pandora's Battery to work, i used the original file found here:
http://dl.qj.net/Pandora-s-Battery-PSP-H...14362/catid/151
now to get it to work you need to follow my instructions like a religion, or else you will be unsuccessful.
1) Download the pandora's battery from the link above ^^^, extract the Zip file and they're should be the following folders and files:
battery *Folder*
installer *Folder*
msinst *Folder*
mspformat *Folder*
readme.txt
2) Make a backup of everything you have on your memory stick, for you will need to format it (erase everything) so you will definitely want to copy your save files form your games onto your computer.
3) After you have copied everything you don't want to loose, Format the memory stick throught the psp by going to settings>system settings>format memory stick, it will ask you if your sure, say yes.
4) copy the content of the mspformat folder you extracted from the pandora zip (they're should only be one file called mspformat), and paste it directly into your Local Disk C: drive, so it will be among your Documents and Settings folder and Program Files folder.
5) Connect your psp to the USB cable. go to My Computerand find out what your psp drive is, in my case its Removable Disk (G:). You only need to remember the letter of the drive, G in my case.
*NOTE* this next step works only on Windows XP, if you have Windows Vista, the command prompt is different and i'm not sure what it is.
6)Go to Start>Run and type in CMD. this should bring up the Command prompt, or MSDOS. it should look like this:

in the Command Prompt type in cd C:\
you just told the command prompt to Change Directory to C:\, so you shouldn't see the documents or settings anymore on the next line, it should just say C:\>
Then type mspformat *your disk drive*, in my case G so i would type mspformat g. If you have done this successfully it will say:
"You are about to format the drive *your disk drive*
all data will be lost, do you wish to continue? [Y]"
type in Y and press enter, it will format your memory stick.
7) After sucessfuly formating the memory stick using the mspformat file, disconnect your psp from the usb cable, and take out your memory stick. RE-insert your memory stick, and connect your psp to your computer via USB cable. go into your psp's memory stick, you'll notice that there are no files or folders on it, manually make a PSP folder, and in the PSP folder manually make a GAME and GAME150 folder.
8) From the pandora zip file, copy the contents from the Battery folder(pandora_battery and pandora_battery%) and the Installer Folder (pbfirm_install and pbfirm_install%) into your GAME/GAME150 folder (depending on what folder you use to activate homebrews, in my case i had to use GAME150). Then download the official 1.50 Firmware, re-name it to UPDATE.PBP, and copy it to the root of your memory stick (so it should be among the PSP folder).
9)Disconnect the psp from your computer, go to Game on ur XMB, then memory stick, then load the Battery Creator.
*NOTE: next step optional if desired for battery to return to normal*
10-a) When it loads Press Triangle to backup the contents of your Battery (so it can be converted back to a normal battery) if you do this step it will return to the home of the psp, just re-enter Battery Creator
10-b) Press X to flash the battery. When sucessfull it should return to the Home of the psp
11) Run the Installer on ur psp, press x to continue. It will start making and flashing files on the root of your memory stick, when finnished it should return to the Home of the psp.
12) Connect your psp to your computer via USB, you will notice that there are alot of new files on the root of your psp, the one you need to pay attention too is the msipl file.
13) This next step causes/discourages alot of people (me as well) because many have failed trying to get it to work, but i found out most peoples/my own mistakes, so READ CAREFULLY!
Copy the contents from the msipl folder extracted from the pandora zip straight to the Local Disk C:\ Drive like you did with the mspformat. Go to the ROOT of your memory stick and copy the msipl file to the Local Disk C:\ drive. Go to Start>Run and type in CMD so the command prompt comes up. Again type in cd C:\so it changes directory to the C:\ drive. type in:
msinst *your psp drive letter* msipl.bin
with spaces included, so mine would look like
msinst g msipl.bin
it will bring up alot of text, and at the bottom it will say are you sure? type in y and press enter, if it says
Write MS BOOT CODE
then it was successful, however if it says
Check free reserved sector:to small reserved sectors
then it was NOT sucesful, most likely you missed a step :( *happened alot to me, had to keep re-trying like 8 times, but dont worry, it happens to the best of us*
13) Disconnect your psp from the usb, take out the memory stick, then HARD reset, and remove the battery.
>>>Now your ready to downgrade/unbrick a psp<<<
1) Insert the memory stick FIRST into the psp desired to unbrick/downgrade.
2) Insert the Battery, it will automatically turn on, and the Pandora Battery will load, press X as in any standard downgrader, and it will start flashing the psp. When sucessful the psp should be at 1.5
*OPTIONAL*
3) to return the battery to its normal state, get a homebrew abled psp and take out the battery, and turn it on via the power cord, THEN put in the pandora battery, run the Battery Creator on ur psp, and press Square. it should flash it back to normal.
Its recommended that you have at least 1 pandora battery/memory stick ready to unbrick/downgrade when needed. but you don't have too.
and thats it ^_^, if you have questions or concerns please hit me up on AIM: Teddy89146, or email me at: Aridnyksprk@hotmail.com
