to let you know, halo was not much redone by microsoft, they found it very close to the xbox release.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Unreal 3 may have some physics in it (but I don't think it does), but any dev that wants decent physics will use a dedicated physics program too. And you do understand that right now, 1080p is not a feasible resolution now? At the most, you can get 1080p running at 24 frames per second. For bandwidth reasons, it's impossible to have 1080p running at 60 frames per second. This means that any content that needs to appear live (games, sports, etc) will look weird and sluggish. Movies, yes, would look amazing, but only movies.

unreal engine has the karma engins and the NovodeX engine built into it, so it can handle physics in itself.
the bandwidth in the ps3 is no where near a problem for the framerate. it can output 2 1080p lines at once over 60 frames. plus 1080p is becoming more and more common, and you know within 2 years it will be mainstream, so why not prepare early?
and bluray is not fragile, but it had a case for the disks before the protective coating was made. is that what ur thinking of? cuz bluray is said to be stronger and more durable than a cd. plus the read write difference is .5 mbs per 1x i think, so little to care about

See, you just proved my point. Unreal alone, without Karma or NovodeX can't do physics.
Not sure what you're saying in the second paragraph. PS3 may be able to output 1080p at 60 fps, but there is no connection with enough bandwidth yet able to carry 1080p signal at 60fps to a monitor (except professional studio equipment which is super expensive and not available to consumers). Within a couple of years, it will happen, but not yet, so why pay for something now when prices will be lower by the time the tech actually becomes realistic to use (plus, as I said earlier, most 1080p monitors sold now don't do 1080p natively, they just upconvert).
As for the durability of blu-ray, I heard an interview on Major Nelson's podcast in which a supposed expert said that blu-ray was fragile...you could be right; I'll need to do a little research. As for read/write difference, hey, an edge in speed has got to be preferred to a lower amount of speed, no matter how small the edge is.
Halo 3: looks like we're only about 6 hours away from the big announcement. I don't what will be shown, but I know it will be incredible.

holy crap!!!!!!
Ive been waiting for this moment for quite some time and all I can say is that I loved the trailer!
especialy towards the end when the sky begins to swerl up and this giant mechanism comes up from under the ground, which Im guessing might be the arc.
Thats it....you konw what, I got to see that again. I didnt even have to wait to see it on G4.

Also the "mechanism" is probably the arc and the Forerunner ship is the index.
Athough it could be the other way around because screenshot of the "mechanism" on Bungie.net is called the Artifact. Which is another term for the index.

Yes, I noticed that also. However it is not exactly the same gun. It is an updated version. You can tell my the long peice at the end of the gun. It is half and half of the gun in Halo CE and Halo 2.

Wow. Thats all I've got to say about Halo 3 :) As soon as I heard bungie officially announced it, I googled halo 3, went to gamespots homepage, and found a nice trailer waititng for me!!!!!! I havent had time to read everything you guys have said, but from what I've picked up, the trailer is also on xbox live marketplace? Which would explain 7 of my 12 online friends sitting in dashboard downloading "something"
First thing I noticed in the trailor, as Papaface mentioned, was the corrupted Cortana. I also then noticed the assault rifle MC was holding. YESSS. Im not sure about anyone else here, but after playign out halo 2, the two weapons I missed were the assault rifle, and the pistol. Hopefully, bungie will bring back the old pistol in some way. Well, I really dont have much time to write, and I know this is really sloppy, but I just wanted to check quick what everyone here thinks about H3 <---(it feels good typign that "H3" :)

Well actually I dont.
Cortana seems detached from the MC, unlike in the Original Halo 2 trailer. This basically means they have parted. She seems to be communicating from a remote source, hence the fuzziness, and the lack of response from the MC. Almost intimidating the MC.

Along with the explosion that makes you think that the whole of earth or that entire area gets destroyed.
No, that is not the case
There are hundred of covenant ships around there, they wouldnt command their entire fleet into one area for them all to be destroyed.
