Want an easier way to make a mms? Use this http://www.noob911.com/downloads/index.php?act=view&id=6
Put that in your ISO folder and run it. Make sure you are using the mem stick you want to be a mms of course! Also, you need the 1.50, 3.71 3.80, and 3.90 update eboots in the root of your mem stick. Rename them to 150.pbp, 371.pbp, 380.pbp, and 390.pbp.
You can get all those here http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/36
To recap...
1. Download the first link I gave you, put it in the ISO folder on the stick you want to make a mms
2. Download all the firmware updates I told you, rename them what i told you, then put them in the root of your mem stick.
3. Run the UPMS installer like any other game or homebrew
4. Since you already have a pandora, you can skip that step when the installer ask you.
edit
Now you can install 3.71m33 all the way up to 3.90m33 using your mms and pandora. Follow the steps I posted EXACTLY and you will not have any problems.

heya
just thought id drop by and say thanx for a fantastic guide
I got my datel hot wire battery through this mornin, and after following the guide step by step i can happily say everything was succesful.
I was previously on official firmware 3.95 on a phat psp, i used windows xp to make the MMS which was succesfull first time (it was a official sony stick) then installed firmware 3.71 M33-2 which was then quickly updated to 3.71 M33-4 and then i proceeded to install the 1.50 kernal addon.
Everything is running fantastic and i found a great snes emulator which im just about to play loads of roms on. So once again thanks for this guide as it cleared up alot of confusion for me

Doing good svtstang.
Just trying to return the knowledge that you gave me when i first started getting into the PSP scene. The thread wouldn't be nearly as many pages if users would read the guide fully and read previous past post instead of asking repetitive questions over and over again. But I guess that will never change and is the case for most all other forums as well.
How are you doing?

I think you have returned the knowledge 10x over larry, your recovery threads/pops guide are fantastic. I see links to these threads all over the place! Are you going to do an update when DC6/new pops.prx is released in the future? If ya need any assistance putting things together you know I would be happy to help.
Besides the miserable 90+ degree days we have been having, I am doing well, thank you :D

larrylje, I wanted to comment about those defective Datel batteries that many users have been posting concerns about within this thread. The batteries are not defective, in a way there are but at the same time they are not.
I was able to charge the battery only once I used it on a fat PSP but when I attempted to use it on a slim, the battery gauge was at 82% and just like that it dropped to 0% I couldn't believe it I saw the battery gauge drop and eventually enter sleep mode. The PSP Slim had killed my datel pandora battery it could no longer retain its charge. It didn't matter if I placed it in the fat or the slim the battery can't be charged. The gauge doesn't fill one bar, under battery info the gauge reads zero and says "External charge complete". I thought I wasn?t going to be able to ever use pandora until I got a new battery. I was mad because I had a brand new slim and still running OFW. I decided to experiment ways has to how I could resurrect the battery. I discovered that even though the battery was dead and still is it could still enter into service mode by using the AC adapter.
At this point, the battery is in life support and when unplugged the PSP turns off a few seconds after. To install CFW I had to first put in the MMS, the battery and then plug in the AC adapter. The orange lamp didn?t light after about a minute, about another minute later the lamp turned green and that?s when the PSP finally booted into service mode that allowed me to finally install CFW.
I don?t know how the battery lost its charge I only used it once on my fat. I put the battery away and used it a second time to install CFW on my slim. Those who have said that the battery can?t be charged should try the steps that I have just stated within my little story. The battery won?t ever retain power but under life support it will do what it was designed to do.

Ok, if anyone else is having issues with the firmware not loading when you start the PSP with the pandora/datel battery inserted (mine just had the green power light on the right, nothing on screen) this is what you might try.
I was afraid I'd need another memory card, but this did the trick...
If you have a memory card reader on your pc, or a digital camera, or something else you can put your memory card in, use it and have your PC quickformat the memory card drive. Follow all instructions in the tutorial, but you can skip the format part. Once you have the mms created, you should be able to load the custom firmware without a hitch. NOTE: I would highly recommend that you save your memorystick files to your PC after you get the firmware loaded, and then reformat the memorystick with your PSP (this creates all the folders for you). Then you can use the folders you saved to your PC to repopulate the folders on you memorystick.
Hope this was helpful.

Can we copy our MMS files on to a PC or Disc and reformat our MS's to be used as normal.
Then at a later date if we format the MS on the PSP and drag the files over on to the card whilst it is inserted in our PC's card reader - will it become a Universal Unbricker MMS again?
Grateful to all p0sitive h4ckers everywhere.

Lol, no. IPL is WRITTEN to certain blocks on the mem stick when creating the mms....simply dragging files does not do this. Wihout the IPL, the mms is useless.

Yeah man. The first thing I did I wrote "PANDORA" at the back of the MS to avoid confusion, especially if all of your MS are the same color and capacity.

First of all I want to thank about this guide, it helpeld a lot for me.
I bought Pandoras Battery before buying the PSP, so 2 days ago I bought a slim psp with factory firmware 3.90 .
After reading a lot, in a lot of places, I choose this tutorial.
I have 2 problems, but all of than I figured out by reading and trying more, I thought to post my problems here only in last case, with no clue about how to solve the soluttion.
- My first big problem was about to make the Magic Memory Stick.
I took a generic Micro SD with a Memory Stick adapter from my Sony Camera.
With Pandora's Battery and the MMC I made from this generic Micro SD in a Memory Stick adapter the PSP just didn't powered up, only a orange light was displayed ( if the A/C was plugged ). Without A/C a green light appear a than it go off slowly in about seconds.
So, since it was my first time I think about 3 possibilites:
- Pandora Battery has problems
- My MS is not compatible for it
- My PSP is protect from Pandora's Battery
For my lucky, the problem was in my MMS, a friend of mine borrow a Japanese MS and than I make de MMS on it, and all work like a charm!
My second problem was about the "80020321 - The game could not be started". After reading more here I found the solution again by changing in VSH menu ( accessed by right botton pressed while powering it on ) the UMD ISO mode to Sony NP966.
Once again, thank for all helps posted here and the tutorial, helped a lot !
Best regards,
Jabour

@Panosx7,
That guide is okay, but I would recommend that you use larrylje's tutorial and software. You can install CFW on your PSP without trouble, just follow larrylje's guide. I installed CFW on a Slim 3.80, It will downgrade your PSP to 3.71 M33.
If you don't receive a response, its not that no one wants to respond, the fact is that by doing forum search you can find the answer to the question that many have asked before. If you are stuck big time, just specify the trouble that you are having.

Sorry if this ones been asked a million times but its a lot of posts to go through..
I've read a lot of guides on how to mod PSPs and get the custom firmware etc..they all boggle my mind.
I've read some that tell me I need an unpatched GTA Liberty City..then some saying if I do something without this special battery i'll brick my PSP..etc etc.
So, if I follow the first guide of this thread..make a magic stick and buy the datel(was it Datel, ive forgotten already) battery..I dont need to go through all this unpatched GTA stuff. Then i'll be able to play homebrew/back up games..emulators..etc?
EDIT
OH!
and I think the important bit of it is that I have currently got firmare 2.81 running on my PSP...which is why other guides tell me I apparently need GTA
