ok download the homebrew in this guide above.Located in the heading Before you get started, you will need: then Place on a Custom PSP, run n look for the option that say create pandora battery... first back it up then create ur battery..U can also set up ur magic stick using this guide also.. have fun
If you follow the guide as it is laid out-you will be successful.
I would recommend following the steps on the UPMS program as such:
From the Splash screen-press X to continue if you are running a custom firmware less than 3.80M33-If you are running 3.80M33-5 and above, you will need to install the fatms371.prx by pressing Square in order to allow it to write the IPL.
Once you have done that, you can continue to step#1
Step 1: Your choices are:
-Install Time Machine IPL
-Install Standard Pandora IPL
-Install Boosters Multi-IPL
-Install Sleep-Fix Multi IPL
I have always used either Boosters, or the Sleep-Fix IPL (either way, if you plan to use all of the functions of UPMS-you will need a Multi-IPL installed)
Step 2: This is where you create your battery-It will automatically make a backup of your batteries eeprom before you start-From there just select 'create pandora battery'-pretty simple
Step 3: Firmware Menu.
Select 'Install UPMS with Utilities(slowest)'-It will install all of the extras from step #4 If you select 'Install UPMS without Utilities' you will have to follow step #4 and install the utilities manually.
Step 4: You can skip this if you selected 'Install UPMS with utilities'-Otherwise, this is where you would install the individual programs.

if u using a ofw psp u will still need to convert the battery with another Cfw psp or u get u buy a pandora battery.. u can use this V3 guide to make the stick usin a OFw psp but u will still need a pandora battery unless u want to try to hardmod a battery... I WILL NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A38he-NgGOc&feature=related if u have a spare battery it wud be good

@lovebosco
1. Turn PSP on
2. scroll to the right until you find Game Icon
3. Scroll down until you find "Memory Stick" then press X
4. Scroll down until you find MUX 2.0 then press X
See if that works

Are you using a the Datel Tool or a regular battery (pandora's). If you're using a regular battery you probably hardmodded the wrong wire. That my thought, and most stores check the returns before you can trade it back. I would by the Datel Tool.
I am using the PANDORA BATTERY 3.6V 1800mAH TOOL.
I tried using a 1gb SANDISK Memory Stick Pro Duo. Everything works up until the point previously stated. I'm thinking it has to be a defective tool, as this should work. I've tried other guides, nothing has worked.
I've never installed custom FW on this unit before. New PSP Slim, Firmware version 1.8. Any help is appreciated.
If the Tool Battery is turning on when inserted (Green Led) then it should be working. There have been numirous users that have tried allot of diffrent setups (Memory Cards/PC) before getting a setup that actually worked properly.
If you feel it is the Tool battery then ask for an exchange. The only other thing I can suggest is trying a 512MB and use diffrent PCs till you find a combo that works.
Hello Again,
A month later I have received the replacement tool. I immediately tested it out, and it worked great. I knew I had everything right the first time. Anyway, chalk my issues up to a defective tool. Hopefully this gives you some fodder if something like this happens in the future.
Thanks again for the help,
Brent

Hello, I bought a PSP slim and Ive got a couple memory disks and also I bought the battery service tool from codejunkies that switch the battery over. I have gone through larrylje's excellent first guide about 10 times while running it on my Windows XP computer and every time I do it, it ends up in the same result of when I put in the pandora battery. All it does is have the green power button come on and thats its. I have gone through about every page of this thread to try to work through it and I saw delateur's guide for what sounds like the problem I'm having. But I'm nopt the most computer savy person and I dont think I'm doing the guide right. I was just wondering if there was anyone that could break it down for me or maybe go through it step by step like larrylje's great guide was. And I was wondering too if everone agreed with me that would be my problem. Because I went though larryje's guide 10 times tried different memory sticks and I still had problems so I believe my solution should be with delateur's guide Im just not sure how to do it. thanx

Hi, great guide that helped me a lot. When I first tried this i ended up bricking my psp. I went through all the steps again and it worked. One question though. I noticed for all the videos ive seen, when installin the cfm, a bunch of text appears on the psp. For some reason it doesn't for mine, which caused me to brick it in the first place. Nothing showed up and i took the battery out like an idiot. Well later when I tried again, I press circle, to install cfw, and it was still a black screen, but i noticed the memory stick light flashing a lot, and then the psp turned off. So i put my normal batter in and boom i got 3.77. Anyone know why this happens for me? I'm using a slim psp if that matters.

Hey there i would like to thank the creator of this guide here it was real eazy to follow and ive sucessfully installed cfw on my slim psp
however, i have one question that i hope someone can answer here for me. My question is regarding the updating of the firmware using the MUX 2.0 update. Ive tried updating to 3.80 or 3.90 but after going into the program and trying to install it the memory card light just flashes forever.
My question here is do i have to have the ofw inside the psp root folder in order for the mux 2.0 to able to run the update?
any help would be appreciated almost perfect

I had to use 2 different computers in order to use UUV3. If the green lamp turns on when you put in the service battery its all good but it doesn't boot, you will need use "msinst.exe" Use the "msipl.bin" that UUV3 created. This is will enable the magic to the card booting the CFW menu. Place these two files in the root of C:/
Go to run type in CMD. Just drag "msinst.exe" and type the drive letter that the PSP appears as, then drag "msipl.bin". Press enter.
It should look like this:

Most PCs skip the final step of UUV3. If done correctly another screen will show that will enable the card to be read by the service battery.

If this screen appears its all good type 'Y' you have created the MMS.
But if this screen loads,

You need to re-format the card using UUV3 and then use "msinst.exe" and repeat all the steps. Important note, after formating the card and if this screen continues to show you will need to use another MS. Even though if you do manage to enable the card, it might not load the CFW menu. Once again you will need to use a different MS.
Sometimes UUV3 will fail to extract the contents from "uniunbr.rar". Just format the card. Then, manually extract all contents and transfer to MS. To enable the magic just follow what I have written using "msinst.exe"
"msinst.exe" is not included in UUV3 so you will need to google it.
No disrepect to larrylje, thank you for teaching us how to flash CFW, you the man!; but some will need to use an alternate method to create the MMS because UUV3 didn't load on my PC so I had to do it manually using the files you provided.

You are going to have to use another PC. Are you using Vista? Under vista there have been some issues. If you are, get ahold of an XP. Are you able to format the card drive using UUV3? If you did, now try using mspformat.exe This app should properly format the card since its intergrated into UUV3, but this it the original standalone.
If that still doesn't solve the problem, you will need to use another MS. I had to buy 3 different cards all sony MS but only 1 worked.

Another question, i downloaded the full file link but when it says to format memory stick for new drive letter, i do as it says the press enter but instead of it reading my memory stick, it just skips to next step. Help please, thnx.[/color]

Hmm the guides seems very straight forward but I want to ask simple question. Sorry guys I've bought my psp a while ago yet I'm still very new to this custom firmware and had to ask.
I have PSP (FAT) with firmware 1.50 (Ori) do I still need to upgrade to the custom firmware to play games via memory stick? also use homebrew softwares such as SNES?
It doesn't seem to state anywhere that if you have what I have what I sort of option I have.
So if I could get simple answer in terms of what I need to do in order to play games via memory stick and/or SNES with my current PSP.
Thank you in advance ^_^

PSP and PSX games you need to update to custom firmware. Hombrew can be played as long as it is 1.50 kernel base. 3.XX hombrew and above will need custom firmware 3.XX or above.

I'm assuming if I update to the custom firmware say the latest one v4? Is it backward compatibility to use any homebrew like SNES?
