yeah you can , its using unleash x file manager and edit the config.ini but i dont know the proper name for the folder to search in thus reason for recommending asking xbox hq , you can still use ms dash if you did dual boot=retail open= ms dash closed = ux ....
plus on top of that you said that your xbox loads black and white you need to ask xbox hq, by any chance are you using componet cables or reg red white yellow?

on my computer when i try to extract it i dont have the sid 4.0 launcher rar, i have the zip file of it, and when i extract that it dosnt work

What do you mean? The modding files ARE gamesaves... and unless you have a modified USB memory stick, you HAVE to use action replay to get the saves to a memory card.[/quote]So if I used something like this

I could transfer the save files from my pc to my ipod shuffle, and then to my xbox? would the soft mod work no problem then?
I'm sorry to ask such A noobish question. But I'm trying to get my brothers Xbox softmodded for christmas. And I'm rather new to the xbox scene...

hi azzidrain,
Just a sml question if i may.First a great tut on soft modding with sid 4.0.I followed your tut and worked thru eveverything very carefully.Just one thing after completing the tut.Everything seem to come back saying success.when i tried about six copied games everyone worked but the led light was showing red.Have i not done something quiet right or is that usual using deluxe.The only thing i was wondering,when u have to do the back up should i of back up on e: rather of just clicked back up.thankyou for your or anybodys antisipated help...

I managed to get sid 4.0.I completed a tut & the only thing i found was, when i completed to the end. I noticed when it got to the unleashed x.Or put a game in. The LED light turned & stayed red.The games still play & i,m not getting any error code.can u please shed some light wot i did wrong.One thing did come to mind,when i was prompted to save ms dash & eeprom i just clicked backup.Should i of click to save it to e:drive instead.or was it something else.thankyou for your or anyones antisipated help..

hi kingboxer well azzid hardly comes to this thread so yeah its me only now the led being red is NORMAL and if you turn it on via open tray then it will turn green then its safe to use xbox live , as far as when you mean "backup " do you mean backing up a game? then u be using dvd2xbox app and yes E f or g is fine but since you have stock hard drive you can hardly fit any game ( halo 2 wont fit)

Thanks for getting back so soon,really appreciate it.Well thanks for clearing up about led light being & staying red.As for the save sorry i meant the backing up of the ms dashboard,also eeprom.Not games.So thanks once again.My next little project, i encountered the dreaded error 16.On another one of my xboxes,i also manged to aquired a mod chip.so i,m going to have ago at that..p.s gus 738 u don,t have to reply back about the L E D light.cheers for now..

hi gus 738,
sorry to be a pain,but you know this about the red led light.I don't really play on line so can i go back into settings & change anything so that i get a green light whilst im playing games.Or is it just something thats within sid 4.0?.Its probably just me when you see red you automatically think the worst.You probably would of guess from the first one,that i,m quite new at all this so thanks for your help & patience..

just a note you dont need a modchip to repair error 16 :D and to change the led from red to green or a diffrent color go to the settings of ux or evox and change it .

im compraing which one is easier and better , i'v done hq's hotswap over 5 times less then 10 mins and you got a new xbox , and many of hq members used it when they run into trouble , i'd suggest look into it

Hi there.
I have the softmod running perfectly fine with my Xbox and my Xbox live account, now, my brother wants to make a new account, so he's bought the live kit, now, can I make a new account with my softmod? Or will I have to do it with another xbox and migrate it to the other using a memory card? Or can I make another account using the EJECT=RETAIL patched ms dash? Thanks

when i turned my xbox off after all the install was complete the unleashed dashboard went away is that bad? and also when ever i put in a game the light would always be red can u help me?

so you power up the xbox and unleash x does not load? does ms dash load and ask for time? then so set it and reboot it should work , mike just unintall the softmod(you dont have to delete the stuff ) and put the xbox live account then reinstall the softmod

ok thanx i got it to work after reinstalling it like 20 times it works lol.... i need help with another thing to.... why i do FTP i can get it on my comp i just cant get it backt o my xbox.. whats am i doing wrong? and mabye u can help me with putting files onn to cuz i have no clue how to do that
or better yet if there is a guide that can teach me this stuff plz send link

im sorry i didnt quite fellow but your saying you can have FTP acess but you cant transfer files from the xbox to the pc or from the pc to the xbox? yeah a crap load of great guides are made by us in http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/ for all your xbox needs :P

i cant seem to open the sid download its in my documents but its not a file it has to be opend with explorer is that how its supposed to be or did i do something wrong.

after i soft modded my xbox with sid 4.0 using mechassault, everything went fine no problems, now i want to add a 250 gig hard drive, so i copied the eeprom to my PC plus drives C and E and made the boot disk , but i noticed that if i read my eeprom with "LiveInfo" most of the feilds are all 0's (zeros), except my mac address , so i'm thinking i dont have the right eeprom , My question is how do i find or make the right eeprom cause without it i can't lock my 250 gig , and yes i tried using the eeprom i have and i get error code 6 , no go ,i also used Config magic and it gave me the locking code so i typed that code in manually to lock the drive and i still get error code 6 any ideas guys?
