If you use DVDFab Decrypter to rip movie to your hard drive, then use DVD Shrink you should have no problem with burning it. I find this to be very easy and quick.

Hi gus738
Check and make sure you are in DMA mode & not PIO.
This one took me maybe 25 mins with that combo.
Disc dirty or scratched?

Try the other drive and see how that goes. Could just be the drive itself slowing it down.
For the one not wanting to go in DMA - maybe try swapping the connection (master/slave) bit to check if it the cable or the drive itself.

they are using the same ide cable * i ony have 1 socket* the slow 1 is set as slave , and yes i tried both b4 this is the fastest one , the other is 80 + mins and i notice 90 % cpu usage when the pio mode is being used lol so yea...
most dvds are fine its just the few from 6 gb up that take longer then usual , i'll put my sony dru 530a again
the dvd burner is the i/o magic higest end 16x drive WELL ITS THE HIGHEST END b4 the "light scribe " version...
i got can light scribe dirt cheap new for 50 bucks SHOULD I UPGRADE ?

So you've done all the tricks :)
From an i/o magic drive I would say Yes - I/O Magic uses different manufacturers for their drive - just like Sony.
Why not why straight from the source like get a Benq 1655 (lightscribe) or a LiteOn (makes alot of sony's stuff).
If you in the US check out newegg.com - both of these can be had for under $35

a'ri i installed my sony dru530a , i have 2 device's
device 0 set to ultra dma2
device 1 set to pio < i belive this is the sony
and i selected settings as ultra dma 2 if availbe
i restarted no go , i disabled drives no go , i'm about to hit uninstall
...
im starting to think its the pc , YEP ITS PC ,
i did a quick test a put the same movie on both , now on sony it reads right away as 30 mins , i see slower reading and more cpu usage ,
i remove and pop it to i/o magic and i see it reads faster and gives me 7 mins more stable and no cpu usage ,
diffrense in pc ???
this one now comes with xp pro b4 i had home i have 2 gb gb ram 666 mhz before was 400 mhz at 1 gb i now have a 3.6 ghz inte p4 hyper threading prosesor
i had a 3.0 ht p4 prosesor
i have 2 * 250 gb hds * total 500 as where b4 i had 1 * 250 gb*
so specs are MUCH HIGHER atlest x 2 better , only diffrense is i dont know what the heck is wrong and i only have 1 socket not 2 ....
any ideals????
i am going to try unisntalling and reinstalling button option see whats up ... but drop a line thanks binkie7

Probably best to start a new thread on this since this one is about Silent Hill.
Post the specs on the pc and drives you are using giving you the slow times and we'll go from there.

hello all,
Well I was finally able to copy and rip Silent Hill successfully. Thanks to all of you that helped me and supported me through this ordeal. I used DVD FAB (Platinum edition) to do everything.

Glad you got it working...happy burning.
@gus
I/O magic uses BTC to manufacture many of their drives...I was suckered into buying one as my first drive as well and quickly learned.

No I wouldn't want you to part with such a beautiful drive, I know it would cause you pain. And, just so yours does not get lonely I can double your pleasure and send you mine, I will even throw in some Memorex disks for good measure as an added incentive. Anything for a friend :)
