This is a link to a thread that is dedicated to the discussion of tools that we use to assist us in our DVDrebuilder and CCE backups.

What kind of time are you taking for the encode on 3 hr movies. Braveheart was about 3hrs to encode with a couple of 1.8g procs. It works fine but I was wondering what was normal. On say a 2.4 and above P4.

It depends on the size of the original or edited film. I encoded LOR II, The Two Towers in 2 hours and 43 minutes, but 3 hours is about right. That's why most of us encode when were are going to bed or do something that keeps us away from our PC's for extended periods.

Sophocles, exactly, I do it just before bed, otherwise you constantly keep goin back to the damn PC and then it really does take forever.(as if 3- 4 hours isn't long enough already)

A lot of the time it takes is probably a result of the 2 pass encode process. One of the things that makes a CCE encode better than the others is that it does a 2 pass encode, and that is one of the major reasons that CCE SP is $2000 because it can do even more than 2 passes. So if you're going shopping, to visit a friend, spend time at the beach, going to work in the morning, then those are good times to began the process. The rebuild and burn process doesn't take that long.

Sophocles, a day at the beach? You do realize I live in the moutains and we're not sure where the beach is exactly or if it even exists ? I've heard it's due east about 6 hours, but that's just hearsay. However we do have golf courses, as a matter of fact, getting ready to go there right now, and yes The Last Samurai will be hopefully done when I get back as it is now spending time in remake. (yes, i know there's not that much to take out, but you do have all those darn languages)

Hi Guys
Brobear sent me over here, said you might be able to help (he thought it would be a laugh). I have tried using rebuilder/CCE Basic, but after about 10 mins I get a message saying 'there is nothing to do, dvd-rb couldn't locate appropriate files in working directory! you must prepare & encode first. I have used dvd dycrypter to rip the dvd in file mode, and I have followed the guide to the letter. I have also tried reinstalling all the software but still get the same message?
I am using rebuilder v0.52 CCE Basic v2.69.

Any ideas?

Hmm! Lakes have beaches. I was generalizing. What can I say I live in Tampa Florida where we have some of the best beaches in North America. Some good golf courses too, but I do miss the snow which I haven't seen now for 14 years.

mccoy, when you choose decrypter's folder for rebuilder, you must click the + mark again to get to the folder that says VIDEO_TS. inside decrypter's folder w/the movie title. You should then get your appropriate path in rebuilder. PS-sophocles, I took some great winter pics this year, we had about a dozen snows of 12" or more. If you're missin' it all that bad I'll send ya some. lol

Everything that bigorange has said is right but this assumes that you aren't using the trial version of CCE Basic because it is limited to only a few minutes of encoidng.

Exactly, I assumed he had the 58.00 CCE Basic, the trial version is worthless, kinda like dvdremake's version-worthless, you can restructure, but you can't export, gimme a break. Oh BTW, no response to our winter wonderland? Scraping car windshields, shoveling driveways, slippin' and slidin',car wrecks from fools that can't drive in it, poles down, power outtages, colder than you know what, the skiing IS good tho.....

talkin about this past winter, now it's hotter than blazes, I live in the Smokey mtns. I was reffering to your "missing" snow. Got a good college buddy I played ball with that lives in Clearwater, not far from Tampa, nice place. I prefer the west side over the east in Fla.

The trial version of CCE basic is useless but the trial version of CCE SP will work but it will leave a watermark. You can download it from here.

Sorry first link was wrong this is the good one.

Since you are looking to buy the CCE basic version because the SP version sells for $2000, I would keep the same settings as those in Vurbals guide. It'll be more representative of your actual intended purchase. The SP version allows one to do more than just a 2 pass encode and there is a setting in rebuilder that allows for that but it will make the process even longer and the benefits are questionable.

Basically just do what Sophocles said if you want to make sure the encode will be pretty much the same with SP and Basic. Also, make sure you have Rebuilder set to use the correct version of CCE. Instructions are in the sticky at the top of this forum.

Thanks Vurbal, I overlooked the one detail that could've had you pulling your hair out. When you open DVDrebuilder and you go to options at the top you note that among the choices are CCE options. In the guide you are instructed to select CCE basic but if you look below you'll see tow other choices. Choose the one that is closest to the trial version your using which is 2.67 so you would select CCE SP (2.66+). The rest is the same.

Well I tried everything you said, still didnt work, first I got a message saying can't open ecl file. When i ok'd through that i got the message saying there is nothing to do, dvd rb couldn't locate appropriate file in working directory! you must prepare & encode first. I have encoded the film with decrypter, i know it works as i also burnt it to dvd with dycrypter, and the file path is correct. Any other ideas?or is time to give it up as a bad job and return to using shrink & Nero?

I received that message on a file that I edited but the original rip of that edit worked without incident. Did you rip the movie in file mode (you want the whole movie)?. If not try using DVD Decrypter to rip in file mode and then report back.

tried riping lord of the rings in file mode, that failed. I just tried ripping the eagle has landed in file mode with decrypter, that also failed with the same errors 'can't open ecl file', the there is nothing to do?

Any other suggestions?

Recheck your setup from the beginning and insure that you have everything right. Make sure that the mpeg2Dec3dg is place into the same folder as DVDrebuilder. I'm thinking that you need to look at this: in options and go to setup and make sure under Applications Paths that you've changed your selection from CCE Basic to CCE SP new. Vurbal can you verify that?
