Are you saying that you don't know what the problem is with the DVDcopy2 that I have been using.
I feel the general results with my testing have been in line with what you and the others have been saying about CCE vs Shrink and the quality of Pinnacle.
I simply did not get the same results from DVDcopy2 which leads me to the question of why?
I can test on a different setup if you can't think of a setting that might change my results.
If you wish to see the results of my initial tests I can send you what I am seeing. I am having problems getting the pictures on my home page so I can't figure out how to post them. If you have a place to host them it would help.
Don't discount my work because you don't agree with the results. If I thought the same way I would have never used CCE or dug up my pinnacle which I consider important and usefull now.
To be honest I would have loved to rip and burn a superior copy in 30 minutes and fully expected it after following previous advice on the other programs.
Don't look at it as me saying that shrink is better than DVDcopy2. Assume it is a problem that can be solved. If I can't solve it then I will live without it but the extra speed would be nice. Both CCE and Pinnacle do take a long time to get the good results.

Sophocles, ran out of patience, didn't you?
I have to agree with you about Intervideo DVDCopy2. I don't know what product 64026402 is looking at. It is fast and the quality of the rips are extremely good. I am always amazed by it. How one can rank it last among those other rippers is very shadowy to me. 64026402, details and proof, please.
The only time I had any problem with it was on one occasion where I ripped and burned with it 'on the fly'. It seemed to lose frames from time to time. The clarity, sharpness, contrast and color rendition remained excellent.

You did hurt my feelings a little with your last post. I have been putting a lot of hours into this project. I have purchased software because of and I am happy with the programs I own so far except Xcopy.
If you continue to work with me then the answers could help more than just me but others who have similar problems.

6402...I have repeatedly told you to rip with decrypter and run with it in dvdcopy2, i've yet to hear that you did that. I also stated that it was recommended to use decrypter to rip and it was decidedly slower with anydvd. I too had heard negative results about copy2 until I actually tried this method, there is no way it finished last, and especially below shrink! As far as wasted dvd's go, even the greenest newbie knows to use rw's til he gets dependable, qualified results. signed, unbelievable in TN

Also, let's remeber the title of this thread: 'Input on DVD Rebuilder Guide'.
As long as we occasionally drift a bit, I don't think friend Vurbal minds too much. If we get into prolonged and repetitive discussions about other software and all the stuff we disagree on, I think we may be imposing...

I am ripping with decypter as we speak.
I anydvd a no no on DVDcopy2?
I was transfering to the hard drive directly with Anydvd before I read your post. I had some concern that I used the wrong source on the last burn and possibly repeated an error.
I stopped the Anydvd rip and will use decrypter files next. Thanks.

Speaking of rebuilder, can I use it and or CCE to change the DVD from PAL to NTSC during the process. Or do I have to do it seperately before I open rebuilder.
And how do I change the DVD output size. I didn't see it in settings. I wanted to get the burn a little ways off the edge.

I don't think you can change it in Rebuilder because it will change the number of frames (among other things) and I don't think it will go back together correctly.
The size of the disc can be changed a couple of ways. The latest version of RB-Opt has an option to set the size higher than what Rebuilder has it set to, or you could do what I do and set it in the Rebuilder.ini file which is in the directory Rebuilder.exe is in. Open Rebuilder.ini with Notepad and add this line under [Options]:
CCETargetSectors=2260000
I used to have it set to 2265000, but when I ran into a DVD that ended up 14MB too big I set it to the above. My DVDs end up anywhere from 10MB-30MB smaller than a blank DVD-R normally.

I tried copying platoon last night, phase 1: 8min, Phase 2: 515 min phase 3: 25 min. I set half d1 for extras, which gave a 22.4% for extras. but the compression for dvd-5: 42%. is that not a little low?

Thanks Vurbal. One reason for getting CCE/rebuilder was so I could get the best quality while trying to keep the DVDs finger print resistant by reducing the output size. A lot of my DVDs don't get handled well.

I did get confused about the thread I was in.
I am still working with CCE on my bigger DVDs but its kind of slow going. The comparison should have been in the comparison thread .
I will not post about different programs in this thread anymore.
I did get my pitures up finally if you care to see the results.

With the purchased copy of CCE are you suppose to use on one machine only or is it OK to use it on multple machines without buying an extra license. I thought doing 2 DVDs a night might help move things along.

It's never legal to use a piece of software on more than one machine at atime but in a single home and family unit that just doesn't sound like fair use to me. Hmm! It also has no online activation code requirements either.
Are you with us for real this time or just playing?

Good morning.
My intentions have always been serious. I have been with you guys in the desire for the best results the whole time. I purchased CCE and use rebuilder because of the tests I have run not because it is popular to do so.
If I ever get Intervideo to work right it is possible I will buy it to.
I also enjoy Rebuilder/CCE because of the small footprint and hands on assembly and setup. The challenge is good. Better if it works.
By your previuos post I gather you use it on more than one personal machine or don't have a problem with this use.
I'm not sure I'm up to making a farm but I figured two seperate projects at a time could be good.
Does anybody use the farm method from the guide to reduce the encode time?

Well I do (obviously) ;-)
Seriously though, if you want to try out RBFarm I should be able to give you any help you need. It's really pretty easy. Let me know what you need help with.

Just a suggestion for everyone here. If you have specific problems you need help with it's better to start a new thread instead of posting it on one of the incredibly long threads we've been posting to for a couple weeks. We can't very well expect anyone to read through 100 posts to try finding an answer for a problem.

When I open a movie in DVDrebuilder 55b, it selects the French audio tracks instead of the English ones. I went back over my setup and selected all languages then saved, then unselected all languages and saved, and then selected English only and saved, and yet when I load a movie it is still auto selecting the French audio track only. It?s not a major problem because and can uncheck it and then check the English tracks and it works but I curious is anyone else experiencing this. The movie was not edited with DVDremake or anything else.

You do understand that the checkmarks are for which audio tracks to remove not which ones to keep right?

I've never used the checks before because I set it up to recognize only English, but I did keep a French track the other day and thats when it all began.
