device hook is a just a emulator ,it emulates a higher firmware you need to have sony firmware 1.5 or 2.71 to install device hook

and you can't install dark alex custom firmware because the first time that you install dark alex custom firmware you need to do it from sony firmware 1.5

at the moment it's only possible to downgrade to 1.5 from sony firmware 3.03 any firmware higher than 3.03 (3.10, 3.11, 3.30, 3.40 or 3.50)
thats nothing that you can do, for now wait and dont upgrade

pspboydee, are you asking if you can play PSP ISO and CSO files on a computer by using devhook?
If that is your question then the answer is no. Devhook is an emulator for the PSP, not PC. Currently there aren't any PSP emulators for PC, that play commercial games.
Does this help? If not, please re-state your question again clearly.

marlino23, for future reference please type your questions clearly to keep confusion to a minimum. This will help you get your questions answered faster.

If you are asking if you can play PSP ISO's on the PSP by putting the ISO's on your MemoryStick/ProDuo Card, then yes. That is possible.
If you are asking, if you can play PlayStation 2 ISO's on your PSP by putting them on your MemoryStick/ProDuo Card, then no. That is not possible. You can not play PlayStation 2 ISO's on your PSP at all. Only PlayStation One games can be played on the PSP, however they must be converted first.
Did this help you? If not, please re-state your question again clearly.

thats exactly what i used to find out. the other two psp's were sold a long time ago. the first one was gone around 2.0v days and the other one was sold about 9 months ago. ive been playing my xbox 360 ever since but i have never really modded any of these things. only thing ive done was play a few NES and sega emulators on them.

To play your backup PSP ISO's you need to have either Firmware 1.5 or Custom Firmware 3.XX.
DevHook is NOT a firmware downgrader, it is a PSP emulator. If you want to DOWNgrade your firmware from 2.71 to to 1.5 OR to UPgrade your firmware to a custom firmware such as 3.40 OE-A, you will need a 2.71 to 1.5 firmware downgrader. AFTER DOWNgrading to firmware 1.5, you will then be able to UPgrade to custom firmware 3.40 OE-A. I recommend you UPgrade to firmware 3.40 OE-A because you wont need Devhook to run ISO and CSO backups. And you can play your backups and homebrew directly off of your MemoryStick.
Was this helpful? Need any more info?

Ok, theres 61 pages here of threads so I figured i'd just ask. I just downloaded Nesterj 1.11 to my psp, which has firmware 2.71. When i go to games/memory stick, the icon appears for the program, i press X and the psp screen loads up and then says "The game could not be started. (80020148)". Do i need to do something else to get this emulator to work? Kinda makes me wish i had never updated my firmware lol.

Worrying is like a rocking chair, it'll give you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere. Write that down.

wow thanks alot. cleared up alot of stuff at least for now. now in the future i would also like to play ps1 isos and mess around with a few other stuff that i might find. which would be easier to do it with? i heard 3.4 is awesome for ps1 emulation yet 1.5 is best for snes and nes and sega emulation (ive done the latter before, it was super easy)

would it be too much to ask where i may find customer 3.4 OE-A upgrader? ima hit up google a bit and see what i find. thanks alot for your help. definetly great information.

gambit001, that is NOT a DEVHOOK PROBLEMS/QUESTION. Don't just post question in awkward places. Use the 'Search' feature if you must.

You have firmware 2.71. Firmware 2.71 CANNOT run homebrew. Nesterj 1.11 is a homebrew application. Download a 2.71 to 1.50 firmware downgrader.

I have fw 2.71, TA-082 and I can play homebrew by emulating 1.5 with devhook.

If noone else can, I must have accidently used some super, duper, uber secret, tricky installation method.

On that note, I don't understand why some people are so reluctant to help people with devhook, instead they always revert to the easy, cliche reply 'Just downgrade'.
I can do everything with my PSP and I haven't upgraded or downgraded from my factory stock standard PSP 2.71fw, TA-082.

Is it because these people are annoyed that they took the risk of bricking and it was such a painful experience that they want everyone else to go through it? I don't get it.

Appologies if i'm being harsh, but honestly, noone else feels this way?

I'm sorry to have posted an unrelated question. I was under the impression that i may be able to find some help on this thread as the description when i downloaded nesterj 1.11 says specifically that it is for Devhook and runs on fw 2.71. Copied description is as follows:

Quote:
"We're sure you're all already familiar with NesterJ, but just in case the term does not ring a bell, it's actually a NES emulator for the PSP. The last version, v1.30beta2, included a WiFi Network Play. It has been a while since we've heard from Ruka, the creator of this emulator; but that doesn't mean NesterJ is completely out of the limelight.

Today, Flammingcowz presents us with a fw 2.71 version (or DevHook version, as the author named it) of the "near perfect" NES emulator. Using NesterJ v1.11, Flammingcowz - with the help of monkeyboy1916 - was able to compile the Ruka creation to work on an emulated 2.71. If our memory serves us right, this is the very first homebrew on 2.71 of course using DevHook.

You can expect Flammingcowz to come up with more "compiled for 2.71" homebrew applications in the future, as long as he gets permission from the original developers. So you might want to check out his work and leave your comments as to what other apps, games, and emulators you want to see. Enjoy!"

If anyone wants to see this, above was copied from : http://pspupdates.qj.net/NesterJ-v1-11-f.../60931#comments

If this still is not a devhook related question i will gladly look elsewhere for assisstance, however based on the description it seemed related and i was hoping that when my psp states "The game could not be started. (80020148)", someone would have an idea as to what to do...

If this is truly something i cannot be helped with on this thread please post and i will search elsewhere as i stated above.

Thanks.

OK, thank you. I'll be checking this thread frequently. If you click the link in my second post it will bring you to where i downloaded the emulator, might i need to download some other program in addition to the one on the link? There's no "read me" file in the folder with a setup walkthrough, so maybe there's something i'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ^.~
