There's basically no risks, its like a normal PSP update. Devhook is complicated to use. Custom firmware's have recovery mode and you can easily just drag and drop the .iso and .cso's into the ISO folder in the root of the memory card and just go to game -> memory stick -> and load em ;-).
2) Here's an easy installer for 3.40 OE-A

ok now i have a new problem. i conquered my fears and went through with the 3.4 oe-a installation, however, now the the games i put into the iso will not fully load. i can view the in the root of my memory stick and watch all the animation and stuff, but when i go to play them it oes to the white psp screen then a black screen for a couple seconds and then says, the game could not be started (80020321). in addition, i cant load umd's that i put into my psp. i hear it spinning and the waiting circle comes up at the bottom of the screen but it never loads. any help is greatly appreciated.

try removing all the Devhook, MPH Loader, and UMD Emulator folders. Then Put your ISO and CSO files in the ISO folder. Then try to play them again. You dont need Devhook if you have 3.40 OyEA. ;)

3) Unplug PSP and go to Game -> Memory Stick -> and Click on the flasher ;-).

You can put Music, Photo's, Video's, Flash Games, Internet stuff, and most of all, with custom firmware's DOWNLOADABLE GAMES!!!!. Just make an ISO folder in the root of your memory stick and put the .iso or .cso games and just go to GAME -> Memory Stick -> and load em ;-)

Flash your PSP firmware to custom firmware 3.40 OE-A by Dark Alex.
You can find it on the web or I will be happy to email it to you with directions ;)
After you upgrade to 3.40 OE-A you wont need DevHook. Just put the ISO or CSO files in the ISO folder on the root of your Memory Stick?

Hi, I'm new to devhook and I'm having a problem...
I downloaded Devhook 0.46 and copy pasted the folders PSP and something else on to my psp and made a folder in the root called ISO and pasted my iso there, once I browsed and went inside devhook, I clicked file emulation and clicked my ISO but after I press Start game it just goes black and my psp turns off...how do I fix this?

What firmware version do you have?
I suggest you upgrade your firmware to custom firmware 3.40 OE-A. You dont need devhook if you have 3.40 OE-A. just put the ISO in the ISO folder and your virtually good to go. You can find 3.40 OE-A on the web, or if u like, i can email it to u with instructions. ;)

Right now I am 1.50
Question about this custom firmware...when I upgrade it will it be permanent? Will I still be able to go back to 1.50?

Upgrade your PSP firmware to custom firmware 3.40 OE-A. Then theres no need for DevHook. Im having fun saying this over and over, even tho this is the DevHook help thread. ;)

"Get the 1.50 and 3.40 Sony updaters (of any region, because all are
currently the same), and copy them in the oeupdmaker directory with the names 150.PBP and 340.PBP."
What does that mean?
