How do u make BitTorrent download faster? i have been searching the answer for days.

ye u are right i managed to find the same thign more seeders and the first night of downloading it it's going to make tit to 100% its downloading at 75 and only 3 hours lef t till 100% :)

I dont know much about this stuff, but i too want to increase my speeds or at least try.
Im using BitTorrent, and have a BT Voyager router. Could someone please explain to me what to do at this screen? Much appreciated.
Any tips that could improve my speed is also appreciated. Thankc.

sorry, never used that. I would advise BitTornado. There are only the two things you can change on the frontv page of it - set your upload speed to 80% of your known upload max. ...remembering that torrent programs use kB/s not kbps. B=Bytes, b=bits (capital letter B vs small letter b). 8 bits = 1 Byte, so 400 kbps = 50 kB/s.
On snother page you have the port, ot port range to use - there are like 65000 ports, and BitTornado can use any like example 55768 )you aren't stuck with the standard ports used but bittorrent clients).

If you want fast speeds. this is what i suggest.
get rid of shitty torrents. their shit as and thier fricking slow. if you want to download fast, use mIRC, i download at about 300KB/s for each download and it doesn't get slower with each download i get. mIRC downloads from BOTs so you dont need to upload and they go fast as. Torrents are absolutely a load of crap, use mIRC, if u need help how to use it reply. google mIRC before and look how good it is

Ok dude i would really want to believe you, not that you care wetger i believe it or not (its 4 my own sake) but your trying to help off course so tnx. But his is really revolutionary wat you say am i wright? Anyway i would really wanna try this if its faster then lets say BitComet or Azureus.
But you said forget those shitty trrnts. So how are you able to dwnld (trnnts) then like movies and games apps and stuff. And is it like a simple program to install and stuff cos im no pro. I mean can you just tell to the program dwld this and store it in that file or remve that file or sop/resume that trrnt. Anyway wat im trying to say i guess, is doesn it hurt to try it out. Like if its bad prgram can i just uninstall it and stuff.
ValiuMm or any1 can you pls confirm this that i can just try it out and is it free and stuff and that it doesnt hurt to try it out. Then ill definately dwld it and try it.

ok how it works is, you download the program mIRC, u will need to make some changes in the options first just to accept connections coming in to download. You will go to a site like www.packetnews.com and search for your desired download. Their will be all this info and when you found the right file you will click the packet number that will for examle #3. you have to click this while in mIRC. mIRC will open a new connection to this server. You will then copy the Bot name which will be next to the packet number that u clicked on or in the same row. once you have connected to the server u will type for example
/ctcp (botname) xdcc send #3 (or wotever the pack number was) this will tell the bot that your downloading from what file you want. You will either download straight away or wait in a que to download. Then it should download very very fast, since your downloading from a server with very good upload. I downloaded 300 on the weekend and it went around 300 - 350 KB/s and was consistent, it took me 1.5 hours to download 1.4 gigs. If you need help setting up mIRC add me on msn

I beleive, in this case, (though maybe wrong), a "shitty torrent" is one that's hardly participated in. a few seeds, a few peers. As far as movies, and of course we can't talk illegal copyrighted, you want popular ones that have nmultiple seeds (complete copies) and a bunch of peers (filesharers, you're one of them) will be in the circle. Talking here like 20 seeds and more, peers out the butt. Then if yyour download is crappy (after time, you must give it time to build up speed), well then you might have a problem.
...I don't do the torrent thing anymore, but I used BitTornado in a Windoes XP machime, and also even on a 600 Mhz P3 Windows 98 SE, and I sometimes got over 2 Mbps (2000 kbps or 250 kB/s) on these. Certsainly over 1 Mbps on the very popular stuff. And let it be known too, a "crappy" (previously called shitty) torrent might crawl at like 300 kbps (about 40 kB/s) and less...

why would i wait a long time to build up my speeds when i can just download the exact file faster and not have to worry about uploading and my download will be consistent the hole time. i dont see why i should use it when also Torrents drain my internet and slow everything down even though im not using my max download limit. This is why i find mIRC a better alternative, but if your happy with torrents then i suggest u stay with it but im saying mIRC is definitely faster and more consistent and doesnt drain my net when i dl 100x faster then on torrents.

Had a lot to say, did, then decided to delete it..
Torrents, Usenet, Other P2P, mIRC, each has a use, some like one, others like others. Just like using a non-live non-real-time forum/newsgroup to post messages in like this one, when a of course we all know that a real time chat room with voice of course is much more efficient, right?

listen you stooges, both torrenting and mircloading are good ways of getting porn, sure u get better beastiality from mIRC, mIRC is for people with minimum life, i know first hand. but for ur debate about s**ty bit rate and ur kbs and ur KBs and all ur bracketing (idiots), if u want real speed go get urself 50 56kers from a junkyard, bond the crap out of them, have several steppings as to confuse anyone trying to get through them all, and there u go, face it bigger is better, and it would look pretty pro, as to ur pondering about file transfering, stick to proven worthwile 5 1/4 floppys, they make for goods weapons as well

Ok 1st of all ddp (moderator) srry i didnt knew. I thought i had seen some guys asking 4 invites here (maybe not this thread but at least on this forum). So were can i then ask 4 invites?? ....tnx in adv!

You already said alot of stuff about this wich i think is really useful cos im still a noob and have much to learn. Off course ill read all the stuff you guys said but pls help me 1st just the basics. Ok im using mostly BitComet then Utorrent and got Azureaus installed but havent used it 4 quite a while (dont know wy maybe hes slow staring up cant remember ..lol). Anyway Bicomet has just this friendly interface and off course the sites to the left side of your trrnts .
So i asked this guy who knows alot of pc stuff and he said to me Bitcomet is good and also Azureas and Utorrnt. He said Azureus cos it uses Java orso (dont know wy thats good). But he said to me it doesnt really matter wich one you use all those that you are using are good. And i read today somewere that Utorrent uses really few pc/memory capacity. At the same page i read that Bittorrnt is the best. And has this feature "superseed' wich i think you guys just talked about.
Is it crrct wat that guy told me or should i just use Bittorent or another 1 cos there is defintaly difference and 1 of those is 2 times faster then the 1 i use??
I've read your post about upl and dwl speed. And i know that you have to set your upl speed beneith your dwl speed. But my friend just said its very simple. With Bitcomet he said just set your dwl speed to Max and upl just alittle bit bebeith so 50 000 will do.
Pls some1 answer my simple noobie qstons i've much to learn.

if your still gonna go torrent, try ABC thats a pretty good torrent, i found it alot faster to other torrents and you dont need to upload on ABC to get faster downloads and its simple to use.

Almost all ISPs have a cap on your overall speed. Some people might say overall bandwidth). The ISPs decided that your download see gets priority because most people download a lot and upload little. And so the ISPs give you a fraction of what's available overall to you as upload speed. ...and probably too, if they gave you more upload speed yhen more people would send stuff and thus the overall effect would be (might be) more bandwidth used, which would probably mean less speed for everyone and bottlenecks and even more slowdown problems),
...By "a little under" that's like 80% of your known upload speed maximum, not a little under your download speed max or a little under your totall bandwidth allowcation.

i still have the same problem on my torrent downloads,
im using bitcomet v0.86
my connection is 512kbps broadband
it seems the ip is blocked
slow download
my modem is PROLINK Hurricane 9200P - its a modem-router
edited by ddp for security reasons
i've been battling with this problem for almost a month

pretty smart showing your IP and serial key, but anyways. if your modem is a router aswell thats probably why, its probably very secure and u need to open up ports properly. Also try another torrent or mIRC and see if the speeds vary. keep in mind your max dl speed is 64KB/s on your connection.
