I would definitely try what rtm suggested. DVDFab has really been staying on top of things lately, and its free! Here is the LINK to the free page.

What worked for you 1bonehead?
What did not work :
Anydvd ripper 6467 (alone)
Dvdfab plat 5095 beta
Partial solution (for movie only)
1) rip to hdd with anydvd 6467 and ripit4me 1710
(even ripit4me needed to use the protected sector list)
2) fixvts in ripit4me had probs (problem 5) if prompted, just click yes (to all the prompts, about 30 times)
3)vob blanker, click on vts 27 vob, the movie and open
a) blank out # 3 and 4 in the cell list and then apply
4) use shrink in reauthor mode (and drag and drop the main movie about 6016 Mb) and in set start end frames, start frames after the first time you see the universal logo (the end credits appear first)end titles will reappear correctly at the end, although it appears I lost about 2 seconds between the transition and the end titles
Thats it.
Creaky, your easy backup seem syou did not get the same encryption as we did here in the states. Anydvd says this release has a flux 2 encryption

Just did this one R1 main movie only with DVDFab 5.0.9.5. Opened it with DVD Shrink. The movie shows as unreferenced material. Processed through DVD Rebuilder and now it's ok.
Doing some other tests now.

Full disc is not processed properly with the latest version. IFOs were sent. I then tried version 4.1.2.0 and got the same results.
You'll like this one.
Edit:
The full disc plays correctly using Power DVD. It just doesn't look right in Shrink. Have to play detective.

Success with DVD FAB HD version 4.1.2.0 (I still had that version on that box) VOB Blanker, then DVD shrink and it is the full movie and bonus material - looks like there is only one preview on the disk. I'm sure the new version of Fab HD will do this with VOB and Shrink.

Did you notice the time on the main movie?
It's 6 minutes longer than it should be. It starts with the end credits. You need to remove that 6 minutes.

dialysis1 - Yes, I see it now. I took it from the computer to the family room and just skimmed through all the menu's and chapters. Just tried to look at it on the computer and it won't play with WMP - so back to work I guess. Dang - thought I had it. Thanks

You can re-author it and get the main movie. Just remove the first 6 minutes.
I haven't tried it yet but perhaps running it through VobBlanker again and cutting out those 6 minutes will preserve the whole movie.
As soon as the project that I'm working on is done, I will try it unless you or someone else cares to give it a shot.
The rip that DVDFab produces works fine without doing anything to the files. It just doesn't look right when opened in Shrink. You can keep it that way if you choose.

Ok...i couldn't call in sick like Dialysis suggested. Hehe.
What hasn't worked so far:
DvdFab 5.0.9.5 full disc
Anydvd, current version (pre update, thanks Bones)
DvdFab 4.1.2.0 full disc.
Right now, i'm ripping with DvdFab 4.1.2.0 main movie only. I'll post back a little later. I'm probably going to try VobBlanker next.

The movie's ok. For me it's not worth a DL disc. I have my movie only backup. That's enough. If for some reason I'm in the mood to see the extras again, I'll just pop in the original.
