Hi, just picked up Tinker Bell tonight and tried to back up with dvdfab platinum 5.1.0.0
The program says finished but the file is only 1.95 Gb .Initially, dvdfab says the disc is 6010 Mb, So what gives ?
The backed up file doesn't play well at all (played with Power DVD 6). Sorry to be such a bother, but all of you have been so nice (and patient) with me.

Wrong forum.
Are you using the full version or the trial? Also, what was your output selection?

Sorry about the wrong forum. But I usually use dvd shrink too, so I thought this was the proper spot to ask my questions.
I tried to back up full disc.
Again, sorry about my mistake.

You've got a strange one. I've not tried Tinker Bell, so I have no idea if Disney did anything strange with copy protection on your version. 1.95 GB indicates the video was over compressed. Normally for a DVD5 the files will be near 4.3GB. Without knowing more, all I can advise is to try a clean install of DVDFab and try copying again. If it doesn't work in full disc, try just the movie to see what happens. Save to the hard drive while checking things out. That way you don't have any coasters to worry about. If you get it right to the HD, you can burn manually to save redoing the transcode.

Silly question, do you have Pathplayer disabled?
You'll find it in the common settings (the icon that looks like a little cog)

Pathplayer navigates the structure of the dvd much like a dvd player would.
I'm not at my home pc so i cannot remember what it's defaulted to.
We're going to play the memory game.
Click on the little green cog icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Under the DVD settings is the setup for Pathplayer.
Click on it. Click the box that says Always Enable Pathplayer but make a mental note to change it later to Enable Pathplayer When Neccessary.
Close DvdFab and restart it. Then try ripping again and see if it makes a difference.
EDIT: Have you tried ripping Main Movie?

What's PathPlayer?
PathPlayer gives DVDFab the ability to copy DVD content only allowed to be played on a real DVD player. In this way, DVDFab will ignore unplayable content which may contain copy protection.
How PathPlayer works?
PathPlayer works like a real DVD player, it follows every play path of a DVD, checking everything that you can access on a DVD player with a remote controller. When PathPlayer finishes, DVDFab can know all the content that a real DVD player will read. The copy protection exists in the unplayable DVD content, DVDFab will not read it when copying.
Disable PathPlayer
Since PathPlayer may need several minutes to open a DVD, if you know the disc is not copy protected, you can disable it to save time.
Enable PathPlayer when necessary
DVDFab will not enable PathPlayer in normal cases when opening a DVD. Once DVDFab detects a reading error when copying DVD, it will ask user to restart DVDFab to reopen the DVD using PathPlayer. In this way, DVDFab has the ability of opening DVD as fast as before, and uses PathPlayer when really necessary. If the reading error is encountered more than a minute or two into the copy process it will save time to use the default ("Always Enable") option below.
Always Enable PathPlayer (Default)
Improvements in PathPlayer and reductions in the scanning time have allowed this to become the default option. This option gives DVDFab the most information about your DVD and will usually result in a better, more reliable backup copy. You can still set the other two options (above) if desired.
PathPlayer must be in this mode for the "Jump To..." navigation features to be active.

Hi again, to answer 7thsinger's question, I down loaded the new beta (?) version that Berryone was so kind to give the link to, and backed up "movie only" as suggested.

First off the mushy crap has to go!!! Oh... and these "gentlemen" you name Bryston are NOT what they seem. lol. Have you checked their profile pages???
I'm wanting to get this for my daughter but DON'T want her near the disc as she's 3 years old. ;) So.... what worked if anything did and how big was the movie actually?? I've seen somewhere around 2 Gigs but that seems small even for a Disney movie. ;) tia....

Quote button, very nice feature !
Mr Greensman, I used the latest dvdfab beta (?) version and made a back up of "movie only". That seemed to have worked.
You have a lovely daughter ? She must be lucky to have a doting father as yourself. Me, no kids, single :(
Enjoy your blessings :)

My daughter is a handful as you probably are but that's another story I'm sure. ;)
NOT to take this thread completely OT... so thanks for the info on a good backup of the movie in question.

You must, you must!! :P
It's one of the few programs out there that is worth the price if you ask me. Simple as it runs in the background and does the job, which is more than some of these progies can say. ;)

Thank you for your wise input.
