Sony changed the PS2 Bios in the third quarter of the 8C issue.

Ok thats the same date as mine says, and fmcb doesn't work on it.
Damn Sony, lol.
I use SM 3.6 with it and just launch apps from the SwapMagic folder
I know on these 9000x PS2, you have to really make sure the Swap Magic disc is pressed all the way down on the spindle.

@ kingpoet, I would advise you too listen to ddp. He means business and is correct. The forum does not like lazy texting.
He understands you need help, that is why you are posting.
Just try to too type better is all.
Also if you can get your Swap Magic to work, then just use it too play backups
If it doesn't work, try it in a friends ps2 if you can, or return it for another disc.

now i got a question seeing has how my swap magic dvd is not working can i try putting in the cd version and wait for the playstion logo to come up then take out the cd then insert my backup dvd game will that work

Nope that won't work. The CD is only for CD games.
YOu need the SM DVD for DVD backups.
If its new, just contact whom you bought it from and they should take it back and replace it.

If the laser can read the DVD properly, the DVD will then spin
But if its having trouble reading it, that is usually because the Swap Magic DVD is either not good, or its not pressed all the way down on the Spindle. You will hear it click in place.
These newer PS2 are fussy that way. Also make sure your Sensors are blocked properly.
If I am swapping discs, I put a toothpick where the disc brake is as I couldn't get the Tool to stay in place.
There is a way to load DVD backups with just the SM CD
You will need to download Cdloader from sksapps.com - link
Its at the bottom of the page to download
Then follow this procedure
Requirements:
Requirements:
A Ps2 (any will do I think).
Swap Magic CD ( I don't think the version matters, I use 3.6)
A real ps2 game DVD-5 (High TOC size is a must! Like Devil May Cry or Xenosaga 2).
CD loader (as a bootable disc).
A PS2 DVD backup game.
1. Boot the SM CD version
2. Boot CD loader
3. When CD loader appears, eject CD Loader properly (DON'T USE THE SLIDE CARD OR TOOL METHOD.)
4. Insert the real DVD PS2 game. The screen should load some numbers of the bottom like 4.37GB, when its done reading the disc.
5. Press 'X'
6. Screen will ask you, Boot EA method or something. Now you replace the game with your backup, using the Swap Magic method (I.E Slide card or slim tools).
7. Press 'X' again and the game should boot.
There are other ELF files that will launch DVD backups, but you first need to know a few things.
Swap Magic can load ELF files from either a usb drive or memory card, by making a Folder called SWAPMAGIC - note its all in uppercase letters.
You then rename the ELF file like below, and then launch them.
SwapMagic has 4 options to run an ELF file, so you can use any of them if you have other ELFs your also using with SwapMagic.
SMBOOT0.ELF = UP + L1
SMBOOT1.ELF = UP + L2
SMBOOT2.ELF = UP + R1
SMBOOT3.ELF = UP + R2
So say you could launch uLe 4.40 (it is basically a file browser for the PS2) allows you too do many things.
You first need to configure uLe , and save it too memory card.

I always set 'Disc Control' too on.
That way any disc in tray will stop when uLe starts.
uLe will then allow you too launch any ELF files from your memory card or USB drive by using Filebrowser or configuring shortcut keys.
Its all in the tutorial.
You can play DVD backups by using Cogswap.elf - link
How to use Cogswap
-boot up Cogswap
-place a PS2 disc in the tray
-wait til it displays the disc type
-press O button for CD or X button for DVD
-wait til it says "use cogswap"
-then use a slide card (fat ps2) or sensor mod (Slim ps2) to swap out the game disc for your backup disc.
-press X to play the disc
Another method to play backups
You can play games off the USB drive or your Network

The compatibility is not the best yet, but its getting there.
So there you have it, hope you don't mind reading a bit too learn.

You need to read all the tutorials I gave you links to, so you can understand what your PS2 can do.
You need the Swap Magic CD in order to load any program from a USB.
The PS2 does not recognize the USB without software of some sort.
Here is a guide to loading ELF files from a USB drive - guide for Swap Magic
You then have to read the instructions on how to load games from the USB drive. The link was at psx-scene forums.
