I'm planning on installing an xbox 360 into my 2012 Camaro SS... I want something completely custom.. I'm not to hot on the scene of modding so need so advice... What I want to do is have the xbox mounted in a tucked away location... but have the dvd drive placed in the center console of the car separate from the xbox for easy loading of games ect. without having the whole xbox in the car taking up space or overheating... Is there a way to remove the dvd drive and make the connections longer.. that way I can mount the dvd drive in the console, have the xbox in the trunk and still have the signal run through the system??
Sounds like a lot of hassle for nothing get a jtag 360 or have the xbox reset glitch hack done, either of these mods allow you to run games from hdd or external hdd without need of the disc,it's a much better option imo, there's nothing to mount in dash all is hidden away it also allows you to install games without the dvd drive as you use the computer to rip & extract them as to appear in nxe & fsd or just appear in fsd,use of file manager in fsd will allow transfer to & from xbox hdd or leave on external, youtube will have vids & most probably vids of vehicle install setups as well, fsd (freestyle dash) can be controlled by kinect or controller, now there's a site for other road users as you wave your arms around while driving & playing at the same time they'll be like wtf
edit: fsd can control fan speed & set it to run faster if needed
software you'll find handy for the above mods in no particular order for pc

to be honest the reason i'm asking is because I'm not that great with software and pcs but I am good with cars lol so do you think though if say I really wanted to go that dvd drive route , be able to remove the disk drive and place it outside the xbox and still have it wired to the console?
Thank you too though for the response that is for sure something I will now consider doing.
It can be done since the drive is just that a separate component, only issue i see is the maximum length of cable that can be used before degradation of data & power occurs over x amount of distance
