I have flashed my Xbox drive in the past but, I would rather just install a mod chip because it is very difficult for me to do all the connecting of the Xbox to the computer.(I use a power wheelchair and is very difficult for me to get down in the position I need to in order to plug everything in). It would be much easier for me to do a one-time solution such as an updatable mod chip. Are there any mod chips that do not need to be soldered and are somewhat easy to install? I don't care about playing online I simply want to play my backups.
AFAIK, there are not any solderless chips for the XBOX DVD drive.
Your best option would be the xkey360, this simply plugs inbetween the Motherboard and your DVD drive and allows you to play backup from a flash drive.
There is also the new reset glitch, but thats got lots of soldering involved
There is no modchips for the drives, but you can buy a glitch chip and eventually be able to boot games from an external hard drive when the custom dash releases. But this requires soldering.
Has there been any update on when the image loading devices will be released? From what I understand the X key 360 has been delayed and there is no firm release date set.
you've just answered your own question after the ? in your post, however at 800 units per day in manufacturing i wouldn't hold my breath on getting one anytime before the year 2020 by then it'll be far too late the new xbox is due in 2013.
