Ok so I used a flashed xbox to play backups a few years ago but I got banned, I have recently gotten a new clean 360 with a light-on drive. So what I am asking is what the status of playing backups? Is there a fairly common flash for my drive that I should be able to find someone on craigs list to preform for me and what are the current chances of getting banned, anything comparable to the days of ixtreme 1.4? (I played online without issued for over a year making it well worth it) Are there any special drives that are needed to burn the games, besides your basic dl burner of course. I know I probably could have found most of these answers on my own so feel free to save your time and not respond but if you are feeling kind a quick update would be really helpful! Thanks guys!!

Well if you haven't played since iXtreme 1.4, then you are FAR behind! The latest firmware released is iXtreme LT 3.0. Flashing the drives have had similar methods for the old drives, but for newer drives, it's become a little more complicated.
If you're just looking to get the regular PHAT console, flashing the drive won't be as difficult, and with 3.0, you should be safe to play online, as long as your games are patched properly with ABGX. I've been playing online with backups, and haven't been banned in a long time. I've been banned twice, but the last time was when Gears of War 2 was out.
If you're looking into a Slim 360, look for older revisions of it (like earlier manufacturer date), because they just now spotted a new Drive, and they are now getting ready to release the 3.0 firmware for the 1175 Drives which have been on stock firmware for months. But ya, you can check out c4evaspeaks and it will show at the top of the page, which drives are currently flashable.
Now lastly for burning games, you will want a certain burner, with a firmware flashed to it. The drive is a Lite-On iHAS124B; don't mistake that for the iHAS124C or iHAS124D, you want the "B" version.
That's really the latest in the firmware scene, they do have devices now that you can install to your system so that it'll play backups off a Hard Drive, but I'm not an expert on how well they work with live. All I know is that there haven't been any bans with using that. It's called the xk3y, but it's at least $90 you'll be spending for one...
