Hi all
My story is this, My nephew has an Xbox 360 which i have right now to try to fix, It has a Benq drive no idea what dashboard version it has, the 360 I was told is modded but we don't know how weather it was HardModded or SoftModded but I am led to believe it is SoftModded as I see no signs of it being HardModded, The 360 plays some games perfectly but some games it loads to the title and you can scroll the options but when you go to play the game it says the disk is not recognized, The 360 has been banned from live as well, Thanks to the prat that sold it to my nephew, Oh yeah the prat that sold my nephew the Xbox was in america as my nephew did live over there for a little bit and we live in England I don't know if that may help in any way, I want to know if there is anyone willing to help me out to at least get the Original firmware back onto it and unban it form live so it is like a normal original slightly used new console lol, thanks in advance for any help anyone gives
Well, you can't un-ban a console, so you're out of luck there. Odds are the drive just had custom firmware written to it so it could play burned games. Does the XBox run all of the original games or are you trying to play burned games? If it won't run some burned games but runs others, odds are there's custom firmware on there, but it's not a new enough firmware to allow playing of newer games. If you want to keep playing burned games and new ones, at that, you'll have to re-flash the drive with the newest customer firmware.
If you just want the XBox back to it's original state, you'll have to flash or have someone flash the original firmware to it, which takes some know-how and usually some extra tools. The XBox will never be able to go on Live again. You may as well buy a new XBox is Live is a priority.
keep the case, buy a new xbox, throw old parts from banned console apart from leads, pads wifi adapter if you have one, easier buy a none banned console off ebay. and his original games bought in the USA wont work on the UK console, NTSC is america and PAL is europe unless the game is region free. Seriously though second hand xbox is best way if you want live
Also it seems that the laser is dying. So you'd either need a new BenQ drive, have to marry it to the mainboard (which means getting the key and flashing the new BenQ with the key and the most up to date custom firmware) or you can get a second-hand one off ebay or some local reseller store.
Oh, and by the way, theoretically it is possible to unban a console, but you would need the NAND and mac address of an unbanned box that does not work anymore and you'd have to do some parts of a RGH. It's quite not worth it.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
