Hi everyone, I'm having a really strange issue with one of my 360s. I have two Xbox 360s flashed to LT+ 2.0. One is a Liteon 83850c v1 and the other is a Liteon 74850c. With the 83850c Gears of War 3 plays perfectly.

However on my 74850c the game has a number of issues, this includes getting stuck on loading screens in the game when booting up, failing to load game textures when it does boot up or just freezing a couple of minutes into the game and failing to install the game to the hard-drive when I try to do so. All of these issues implied to me that there was a fault with the DVD-Drive as the exact same disk works perfectly on my 83850c, and I've had similar issues with the same drive in the past with Modern Warfare 2 (it always used to fail to install).

For those of you in the know, I tried the pot tweak method as I figured my laser must just be dying but that seemed to do nothing, I even adjusted it a number of times and went as low down as 3.05 on the ohm resistance. I also tried to clean the laser by carefully blowing it with compressed air but that did nothing either. Does anyone who knows what they are talking about know what might be up with my DVD-Drive so I can get it to play Gears of War 3?

P.S A point that really confuses me here is I just went back and installed Halo Reach and it installed first time without any issues! so I'm really stumped on what's going on here.

As always, any helpful replies from the pros on this site are much appreciated!

as i thought about your post i remembered something from the past, i think your pot setting is to strong, that may be causing problems, liteons like to be around 5.3 on the top and .8 on the bottom, try tweaking them the other way and see what happens.

Very strange indeed mate. I use (and always have used) Aone Plus DVDs. On both DVD-drives they have always worked perfectly, so I can't see it being an issue with the media as every other back-up I've made has worked flawlessly with the Aone disks (other than the similar 74850c issue with Modern Warfare 2).

Thanks for the heads up about the pot setting though. I thought it was pretty odd that the first time I hooked up my multi-meter to the drive I got a reading of 3.57 as the standard setting. The lowest reading I've seen others get wasn't less than 4 as a standard setting so I'll go towards 5.3 and see how it turns out.

I'm rather worried about bothering to buy a new laser if it has done nothing to resolve your issues, especially since there seems to be an anomaly in the way it so easily installed games like Halo Reach. The only other factor I can think might be the issue is a problem with the LT+ 2.0 firmware for some random Liteon drives.

Did you ever fix yours? I tried changing the laser after the pot tweak did nothing and mine still doesn't work, in fact it's now worse. It will turn the disk for one second and then say "open tray", it's like the Drive isn't even trying.

I've tried pot tweaking the new laser, I've tried moving the laser position and I've tried cleaning the new laser lens. I even tried re-flashing the DVD drive to see if it was a bad flash, again it seemed to flash perfectly. However, none of this does anything, all that will happen is it will turn the disk for two seconds and then say open tray. I'm really all out of ideas here...

if it only takes that long sounds like your pot settings are all the way out of wack or your laser has finally died, try taking the top off and see if the laser fires at all when you eject and put the tray back in. i fixed the one issue with the new burner software, that liteon played all the way through the game with no issue

I changed the laser and it still doesn't work. I even tried adhusting the pot on the new laser. This is extremely frustrating.
