Hi All,
Ive just got a second hand 360 which I know has been modded but dont know how neither did the old user.
Im not interested in "backup" games I have all origionals just wanted a replacement for my dead 360 rrod..
ive checked with xval and it says console is clean but i dont want it to get banned so im looking to get it back to an default state.
if i connect to live with this console and update is it possible that this box will get banned anyway? what can i do to avoid this?
thanks for any info
Gary
It's possible it will get flagged to be banned, depending on which hacked firmware is installed on the 360's DVDROM. Also, if it's a RGH or a JTAG, you will definitely get console banned within a few hours, if you're lucky.
Your best bet is to find somebody in the know in your area that can flash the console back to stock firmware. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, there are plenty of tutorials on the net, but google jungleflasher.pdf. Read it over entirely. It looks complicated at first, but it's relatively a simple process (depending on what make & model your DVDROM is). Good Luck!
Thanks Bill for the fast answer.
Im a senior Sys Admin so ive no problem with DIY work on the 360.
Just needed pointing in the right direction.
If i have any questions about the procedure then ill drop another line.
Thanks again
I would check first what has been done. If it has had a RROD repair I wouldn't go any further, play it untill it's dead (which mostly won't take long). If it has been hardware modified chances are high that you got a JTAG or RGH, I wouldn't revert that back to original, better sell it the way it is and get a new one for the money (and I mean a new one, a RGHd console sells for what a new costs). If the drive has been flashed just update to the latest dashboard, if you're lucky the fall update hasn't been done yet and it gets flashed back to stock automatically.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
