Good morning.

My name is Mya and I am writing because I would like to flash my XBOX 360 and have just a couple questions I am hoping someone can help with.

I own an XBOX 360 Elite (Jasper chip with Lite-on drive)and have ordered the tools (Xecuter X360USB Pro, CK3 Probe, etc). My question is updating my XBOX 360 BEFORE flashing. I'm confused because I've seen conflicting advice on whether to update or not.

Is it OK to connect my XBOX 360 to the internet to download the latest dashboard available BEFORE flashing? I understand if I update my 360 AFTER flashing, the flash will be overwritten.

I have read conflicting information - some have said if I update my dashboard to the latest, that I will essentially block myself out from being able to flash my Lite-on drive while others have said it's ok to flash to the latest available update (May 2012) and then flash my firmware.

Which is it?

Other than that, this forum has been immensely helpful to me and I hope there is someone out there that can clarify the "updating" recommendations before flashing firmware.

Thanks in advance.

Update before flashing. Your drive will be changed to a 0251 drive, that's just some different kind of firmware and a while ago people weren't able to read the original key off such a drive, but that's changed.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Thank you for your answer.

I checked the Wikipedia page for the XBOX 360 latest dashboard revision and it appears to be Revision 2.0.14719.0 with a release date of February 23, 2012.

Just to be totally clear, I am OK to update my XBOX 360 with Lite-on drive to this revision and still be able to flash my drive afterwards with iextreme 3.0 (and the CK3 probe and Xecuter X360USBPro)?

I don't mean to sound redundant by asking again, I just want to make double sure before I proceed.

I thought that after a certain update the XBOX 360 drive was "locked" essentially and would not allow someone to flash their drive. This has changed, huh?

Correct. 14719 is the latest dash.

Yes. As Eisherz says, it's fine to update first and then flash. Matter of fact I flashed as stock 14719 phat Lite-On to LT3.0 a few days ago using a X360USBPro and homemade probe.

Again, it's fine. Update and flash.

Many many thanks to everyone who responded to my questions. Much appreciated.

With conflicting information circulating throughout the net on this, I will say I am really enjoying this forum and am learning a lot.
