Why cant the xbox 360 be like the PS2?

I am tired of my xbox 360 and am seriously regretting buying it.
What I remember about gaming with the PS2 was.. buy PS2 >> mod it to run backup games >> buy games >> enjoy!!
Whereas the xbox 360 is one problem after another. I bought the 360 and then gave it to my local shop to mod it. after which it ran a few games and I was happy. But most of the games I buy now are either unplayable because of errors like:
region not being supported,
unsupported disc.
cannot play dis, please restart console and/or wipe disc with clean cloth.
and the most recent one for Resident Evil 6.
A system update is required to play this game..
Im not into the tech side of it. All I know is I'm running dashboard 2. something...
what am I supposed to do to fix this and just enjoy games?? Is there any place where I can learn how to softmod myself?
P.S. is it safe to use the system update even though I know the xbox has been modded??

You can run regular updates on the system while it's modded. You just need to be careful with what you update, because sometimes they are used to catch modders, but those are usually with system updates, and not game updates.
So ya, you can update the game, and still play it.

Sell the 360 & get an original xbox or two then chip it & cruise over to http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/xbox/xbox-isos/ download as many games as you like including emu's & all stored on the xbox hdd just like a jtag 360 only better since the original xbox plays many different movie formats using xbmc,no its not illegal for me to link to that site as the games are no longer made so is not piracy,not that i care they stopped supporting it so f em.
ps: serves you right for modding the 360 :p

PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube were a different generation. They weren't (for the most part) online, so when you bought it, you bought a "finalized" product. Mod it and you were done. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo were more or less helpless to fight the mods.

Since Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii are online machines, it's easy for Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo to fight mods with system updates (among other tactics).
Now that they can fight modding remotely, don't you think they will? If you made the game console and could stop me from playing backups on it, wouldn't you? Yes you would.

The point is that you can't permanetly "fix" it.
We mod.
Microsoft releases a new update to combat it.
We mod again to combat that update.
Microsoft releases a newer update to combat the new mod.
Back and forth, back and forth. It won't stop, and don't expect it to.

You need to look at the brighter side of it. At least you DO have the ability to play your backups, as apposed to your $60.00 original retail discs (which i'm sure you have lots of *wink*). As long as you stay ahead of the game, you can keep your $60.00 retail copies tucked safe away.
All in all, you're just complaining, that you have to spend $50-$60 a year on you console in order to keep gaming. Hmm,,, that sounds like a bargain, and sounds a lot cheaper than going out an buying RE6, Black Ops II, Dead Space 3, Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, Gears of War Judgment, Halo 4, etc. That's over $400 right there.
Another option: You could just pony up the dough for an xk3y and make your life disc-free.
And keep in mind: It's gonna be even harder with Wii-U, "Xbox 720", and "PS4".
Perspective re-alignment time.

Where did you get that from? Those games are not in the public domain, so it still is piracy. They become part of the public domain 70 years after the death of the creator.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
