That's really cool of you, I too saw the comments that said it was good, all I can imagine now is I forgot to mention I've had connectivity issues the last couple of days, my explorer locking up, getting kicked off the net but I didn't see that happen during my downloads...I'll just buy the darn thing but I really want to figure out what's going on. The whole point of this was so I could learn how to manage my own gaming system, so I'll keep trying on my own, leave the good people of the boards to more important things. My connection problems started the same time I loaded Pirate Bay and it's still seeding, can't shut it off, think my one game more than covered my seed ratio. I should have organized my ports etc before using a bittorrent. I don't keep my PC as clean as I should so the added outside activity isn't helping.
Don't worry, I won't mess with updates or homebrew, I'm humble enough to know my limitations. Thank you and to all those who gave so freely of their time.
if that game is still seeding thru a bit torrent site e.g bitlord click on it and remove all tasks and files
Here's a laugh since we've officially reached "pathetic" status, the last one I tried on Bitcomet has a message on the bottom in red that says "stopped, warning, downloaded file missing" Gee, ya think that affected my file? he he

So the last 2 days I've been trying to pull an ISO out of a file that didn't complete, anyone have a bottle of Xanax? Arsenic? Tools to perform a lobotomy? (-;/
I swear, if I had 2 brain cells, they'd fight! If brains were dynamite, I wouldn't have enough to blow my nose! Gotta call Mom now and see if she had any kids that lived....

Tongs needs to be compensated for all his tech support I think LOL.
I recon the best thing for this guy is to get someone to come in and teach him how do to do it, because I can see him screwing up something in the future. Seeing how it takes him so much effort to get a rar file uncompressed.

since its 4.37gb i would say it is an iso but has wbfs manager associated with iso files which is why he is getting the wbfs icon. fist i would check the properties to see if it is an iso if it is it could be burned or i would load the iso on a flash drive using wbfs manager for testing prior to burning

Thanks, I got it but we pretty much shot that horse in the face already my friend. I think Vato thrashed me adequately for 20 inexperienced postings, and lucky for me, he started in on me in his very first post, before he'd even attempted to help. Another kind man was working with me at the time.
I stopped asking for help on this matter 2 days ago, consider it dropped. I added further details because the answer to my question was "just right click and extract here" over and over.
b1gh3ad, I make my living working on my PC for about 12-14 hours a day, add another 4 hours of "fun time" ripping and burning movies. If today the fate of the planet rested on my ability to right click on a rar file and tag "extract here" and then repeat the process if those files were further compressed, we'd all be alive to have Sunday brunch. I've used all the usual compression utility programs including winzip, winrar and 7-zip. If I was able to complete it that simply, I'd be in my son's room playing our game, not here looking for answers or letting your boy take pot shots at me for not being very good at ISO's. I could have accidentally associated the files with another program, I've had connectivity issues since DL'ing from Pirate Bay, maybe the files were incomplete due to a momentary disconnection, I'm sure there are any number of reasons why a rar file won't give a complete ISO other than "user doesn't know how to right click", but I suppose we won't know now.
Can't tell you how many hundreds of times I've read on this forum "you need to give us more information for us to help you", perhaps I overcompensated. You guys let Vato repeatedly verbally beat me like a red-headed stepchild without saying a word, but threw a red flag at me for adding too many details to my issue? Just sayin'

I like coming here and though I haven't posted msny times, I'm an avid reader and I visit regularly. Being disabled and raising a child full time, this is pretty much my "social life" and I don't want to wear out my welcome on one problem that seems to be challenging to do without having someone more savvy than I am with their hands on my keyboard. I'm sure I'll find an answer eventually, I was going to hit up a different board, but I think that's considered bad form, besides, most other boards are full of guys like Vato, too full of themselves and they relish making newbies feel small. Besides, he's slammed me every day I posted to Tong for about a week now, I'm quite confident if I continued my inquiry, he'd start in on me again and I'd likely defend myself more vigorously. This is no place for such senseless rhetoric. This afternoon I was looking into the possibilty that my files associations had changed and were affecting my ability to "unrar" iso's, went into my control panel and when I tagged "default programs" my AV blared and told me I had a virus blocked. I've had connectivity issues since I started this, freeze-ups, disconnects etc and I'm guessing it happened when pulling a file off Pirate Bay when I hadn't taken precautions before allowing P2P seeding. Should have at least organized my ports before accepting a file.

Plus mate don't be a cry baby. If you look at previous post and "learn how to read" I did tell you step by step on how to do your silly problem you "STILL" have not figured out after so many people here telling you how to do it. OMG seriously all of us can download a file of pirate bay, uncompress it and have an ISO out, but you seem to have soooooooooo much problems...(even after intense explaining by many members)?!?!? I even went as far as putting it in step for so to make it simplified but nooooooooooo I never helped you at all....
Anywho obviously you need to lo alot of reading up and learn alot of things because the things you keep telling us about most of the times makes no sense or has nothing to do with the problems you are trying to sort out. And this does not mean I am calling u dumb or stupid, which I never did at anytime but you for some reason like to think so and accuse me of doing so... (if you think that then by all means go ahead) all it means is that you cannot grasp this tech stuff easily and just need someone to be physically there in front of you showing you what do to step by step, nothing to be ashamed by, some people just learn that way. But knowing you .... I can see another whole massive post coming on after this one telling us all (including me) how you have been unfairly judged and just a junior member and probably end up with some proverbs or some story about your nan telling you something about something > <

Hey my friend,
I said I wouldn't ask for help on this but I think I've done it, now the burn failed but I am almost positive it's a cheap media problem and not my "work". If it's ok with everyone, I'm going to post what I believe to be all relevant information for you to help me get the final 5 yards to the endzone. I also think this info will help others who run into similar rar/ISO extracting problems and that's the whole point of posting afterwards, so you can help others.
There are several legitimate reasons I'd have been confused, I never was able to get the icon that looked like an ISO disk on my desktop, I assumed all my attempts that didn't end with this icon showing up were failures. With every try, if I didn't get an ISO icon, I abandoned the attempt. Next, the file size: I thought it had to show as 4.7gb and really it shows as 4.37GB when you extract it, also when you do it the file size in kilobytes shows as 4,589--- but when you burn it automatically goes back to the proper size of 4,699,979. No clue how or why. Both these make it seem like you've done something wrong when you really haven't at all. If I were to teach what I've learned now, I'd tell the newbies not to worry about what the sizes are showing them, just because your rar extraction shows a 4.37 gig file, you're really getting the 4.7 or so (can't be larger or you need a DL disc), you need and the other file that shows you in bytes as 4,589----- will still burn (and show up in Imgburn) as the proper size 4,699---
After I made a few coasters I wanted to understand the numbers exactly so I didn't replicate my errors, but in the end it just doesn't work that way. In the end I certainly complicated the matter as mentioned by over-thinking the whole process, so my crime wasn't not understanding how to "right-click/extract here", it was trying to make sense of why the numbers don't match up during the process, and when they didn't I walked away from what were probably clean extractions on several attempts because I didn't get a picture of a shiny ISO disc on my desktop or the numbers didn't match up exactly. You veterans feel free to amend anything I've added, again I understand very little about this more than my experience as a newbie making mistakes, but we're the ones who will be asking for help so this was my experience, I hope my 6 bad discs died for a worthy cause.
I'm burning my last one as I had a quality Verb left over, I'll post my results.

Did you actually say "you can't read"? Vato, you can't even spell words my 5 year old can, so don't humiliate yourself any further. This afternoon I was looking into the possibilty that my files associations had changed and were affecting my ability to "unrar" iso's, went into my control panel and when I tagged "default programs" my AV blared and told me I had a virus blocked. I've had connectivity issues since I started this, freeze-ups, disconnects etc and I'm guessing it happened when pulling a file off Pirate Bay when I hadn't taken precautions before allowing P2P seeding. Should have at least organized my ports before accepting a file.

If you look at previous post and "learn how to read" I did tell you step by step on how to do your silly problem you "STILL" have not figured out after so many people here telling you how to do it. OMG seriously all of us can download a file of pirate bay, uncompress it and have an ISO out, but you seem to have soooooooooo much problems...(even after intense explaining by many members)?!?!? I even went as far as putting it in step for so to make it simplified but nooooooooooo I never helped you at all....
Anywho obviously you need to lo alot of reading up and learn alot of things because the things you keep telling us about most of the times makes no sense or has nothing to do with the problems you are trying to sort out. And this does not mean I am calling u dumb or stupid, which I never did at anytime but you for some reason like to think so and accuse me of doing so... (if you think that then by all means go ahead) all it means is that you cannot grasp this tech stuff easily and just need someone to be physically there in front of you showing you what do to step by step, nothing to be ashamed by, some people just learn that way. But knowing you .... I can see another whole massive post coming on after this one telling us all (including me) how you have been unfairly judged and just a junior member and probably end up with some proverbs or some story about your nan telling you something about something > <
Like I said before if you can't take critism then maybe you should not be asking for help here as we have repeatly told you many times how to fix your problems but until now you have not ...

Wyatt, I give you props. I'd have given up on that .rar a LOOOOONG time ago. My advice, stick to .iso files as .rar on torrents are usually bullshit. I only read about half of those post but I assume torrents are what you're using. I always read through the comments before I download anything. I like the pirate bay, torrenthound and torrentjunkie. Or I use torrentz.eu to search, and go with whatever has the most sources.
You sound like an excellent father, you're child is a lucky one.

Found something that's probably even better than a screenshot, I found this video (under 2 minutes long) on Youtube that is a step-by-step archive of someone with the exact same problem as I have now. To be concise, I have a rar file with 4 pieces, right click on it and "extract here" and I get another rar file, the 4 become one larger rar, size says 4,589,824kb. It does say "iso" if you check it's properties, but it's clearly still a rar, at least it appears to be because If you just straight burn that "right click/burn using imgburn", no joy, it quits the burn at 70-80%. If you extract it further (it is, after all, still in rar form) and then attempt to burn it, it burns clean and to the end, but will not play, the file is a perfect 4,699,979,776 bytes. I'm not the only knothead who's experienced this, I found dozens of articles and many more posts from folks this happens to all the time, so this might have been worth your time to solve it.
This goes out to Tong, Vato and anyone else who's followed this thread as well

I thought it might be of some value to mention how you associate your winrar is often mentioned. I burned discs both from ones extracted when I had the ISO box ticked in options and unticked, neither made a difference, both were unreadable by a modded Wii in Homebrew.

First time I've ever pulled anything off a torrent, I normally use either Tehparadox or just run searches for Megaupload, Fileserve/Filesonic on Google, but I've crashed my PC as many as 4 times in 1 day with that method. Pure Virus breeding grounds (the Google Mega way)
I've just started trying PB, but only found rar's and compressed ones at that, I'll be more selective, what I've found is 90% are PAL. I haven't set my unit up to do PAL's , just NTSC

Wyattspot like we told you before already you don't need to worry if games are PAL or NTSC or NTSC-J as a modded wii will play anything so stop pooping your pants over that LOL ;) Also you will rarely find uploaded ISO of games as they are too big and most people like to compress them and make it into rars to save time and space. Now as for the crashing on your computer and the viruses..... do you have or have you ever heard of an antivirus?!? That should stop viruses going into your computer when you download anything. Also where you are searching for this is pretty crap as it's not safe or recommended by me and I'm sure other people as alot of people like to upload crap. Pirate Bay is a little better (not the safest) but better as you can read the comments and see if they the files you want to get are crap and or full of viruses. Your best bet would be to get yourself into private torrent sites where all files are monitored and 100% proper and virus free....but most these days are through invites and have to have a ratio of 1:1.
You seem to worry too much also on the size of the ISO, we told you before that it does not matter what size it is as most of it is blank crap space and most of the games are around 1.5 gb
