Wyatt, I give you props. I'd have given up on that .rar a LOOOOONG time ago. My advice, stick to .iso files as .rar on torrents are usually bullshit. I only read about half of those post but I assume torrents are what you're using. I always read through the comments before I download anything. I like the pirate bay, torrenthound and torrentjunkie. Or I use torrentz.eu to search, and go with whatever has the most sources.
You sound like an excellent father, you're child is a lucky one.
You can get straight ISO's that aren't rar'd? Oh my heavens! First time I've ever pulled anything off a torrent, I normally use either Tehparadox or just run searches for Megaupload, Fileserve/Filesonic on Google, but I've crashed my PC as many as 4 times in 1 day with that method. Pure Virus breeding grounds (the Google Mega way)
I've just started trying PB, but only found rar's and compressed ones at that, I'll be more selective, what I've found is 90% are PAL. I haven't set my unit up to do PAL's , just NTSC
Thanks for the props, nicest compliment anyone could pay me. Never met my dad, booze killed him young so I swore I would never fail my own son. Always said, if I screw up everything in this life, but get him right, I'll die happy.
Cheers
Wyattspot like we told you before already you don't need to worry if games are PAL or NTSC or NTSC-J as a modded wii will play anything so stop pooping your pants over that LOL ;) Also you will rarely find uploaded ISO of games as they are too big and most people like to compress them and make it into rars to save time and space. Now as for the crashing on your computer and the viruses..... do you have or have you ever heard of an antivirus?!? That should stop viruses going into your computer when you download anything. Also where you are searching for this is pretty crap as it's not safe or recommended by me and I'm sure other people as alot of people like to upload crap. Pirate Bay is a little better (not the safest) but better as you can read the comments and see if they the files you want to get are crap and or full of viruses. Your best bet would be to get yourself into private torrent sites where all files are monitored and 100% proper and virus free....but most these days are through invites and have to have a ratio of 1:1.
You seem to worry too much also on the size of the ISO, we told you before that it does not matter what size it is as most of it is blank crap space and most of the games are around 1.5 gb
I understand, but I thought you had to adjust a setting in your homebrew to let it play PAL, well I haven't done that yet so if I did burn and try to play a PAL without adjusting settings, it wouldn't play, yes? Means I could be tossing discs in the trash that were PAL (unlikely, but I won't know when I finally get a clean burn to play if it's PAL). I surf the net 12+ hours a day, I've got antivirus, spyware and malware proggies, but things get through, especially when you're running all freeware. I actually got an invite to one of those torrents, anonymouse, guy quizzed me for like a half hour and invited me but I was afraid of torrents then and don't understand how to isolate ports etc. First, I bank online every single day and second, I'm not very good at keeping my lappie and desktop tidy so they both run slow as it is considering I have enhanced high speed DSL (you need to be fast for auctions), I assumed "seeding" would slow me down even more which would hurt my business. Ignorance about torrents I'm sure, that's why I meet the good folks of AD, to teach me what I don't understand. The "size" thing I just picked up from research, there's a lot of talk about size indicating a bad file if it's not exact, probably just lots of noobs like me making assumptions, I won't sweat it, I'll go by the comments. I will join a good torrent as you recommend, thank you.
