I wouldn't worry too much. An iHAS324 is a rebranded Optiarc. I haven't had an Optiarc produce a coaster EVER! I don't know about trusting them as readers, but for burning they do quite nicely :)
Your green up and downs, in the upper field, is your speed of the burn. Looks like you may have had buffer underrun occurring. If you multi task, on a single Hard drive system, this will happen. You need another Hard drive, so you can multi task with ease. Store Dvd files and what not on that spare drive. You'll find that your Operating system hard drive will run better that way too.
As for the Pi E...You need not worry about that score, unless it's REALLY high. And I'm talking upwards of the hundreds of errors. I've had well over 1,000 and it still played ok. Really does depend on the burner, and reader though.
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

I haven't but they look good and the best Ritek discs I've used are the 8x DVD+R Office Max discs. :)
I'll be curious to see your results on those if you choose to buy them. :)

I'll sure to let you know greensman waiting on free shipping first,I'm curious to see how there work out and how well they burn, gonna try 100pk along side some Verb's dvd-r 8X Shiny Silver 100pk also
http://www.meritline.com/verbatim-8x-dvd-r-silver---p-18319.aspx
they got the 8x +r Shiny Silver 100pk Verb's (mcc 003) at micro center for $19.99 that me and Rob get all the time but it's a luck of a draw,I've had and so has Rob pick up a 100pk where they spiked at 0.5 high on the PIE at the same spot all the time don't matter burn speed or which burner. I use,I still got about 40 of those left.I hav'en used at all sense.I bought a new pack of 100:)

My LH-20A1H cost me 60+$. I don't regret that purchase :p It's still my most trusted burner/reader. I generally only use it for reading. Its shown itself to be better than the sata counterpart. Though that could be due to multiple factors...

Well, my Optiarc AD-7220s bought the farm yesterday. It's identifying DVDs as re-writable's and try's to format them. It locks up the drive completely. it's not the Sata cable as I switched them and the drive still doesn't work. Something in the chip went south! It started out by not allowing me to burn anything faster than 8x, and finally quit completely yesterday! It will play DVDs and burn CDs, but it won't burn a DVD! Time for an RMA! LOL!! I've never had to deal with Optiarc before, so wish me luck!

Optodisc R16 (Imation Branded)
Burned nearly 4 yrs ago. I plan on watching it now. I'm pretty sure this was a flawless copy. Optodisc, NOW I remember LOL!
This would have been burned on my NEC ND-3550A. Was good while it lasted. Probably at 4-8X. I was experimenting with 8X at the time. Hard saying which speed I used.
I'll post a Philips Disc burn next :)

Heres a CMC MAG R01 Philips Branded. Not at all what I expected. It also occurred to me that the burner was beginning to read discs oddly before its failure. Audio video synce issues, as well as ignored read errors. Basically, the glitches I saw while watching the video, may have been due to read errors during rip, not write. I guess I'll never know LOL!
This would have been burned at 2.4X by NEC ND-3550A. The max speed of the disc.

Just watched the FaceOff backup. Its a perfect example of why I abandoned dvd shrinks transcoding abilities ;) Rebuilder just can't be beat. During the action scenes, there was substantial pixelation. At least on high definition displays. On a 27" tv, it looked fine ;)
