Sorry, I was a bit preoccupied at the moment. I had just gotten the news that now this place is being Foreclosed on. I kinda felt like I was being shoved off a cliff! LOL!! I haven't moved in 6 years and Russell hadn't moved in about 11 years. You collect a lot of junk in that much time.
Now that I've gotten a chance to talk to my Attorney, and the Management company, I know we won't have to be moving anytime in the near future. We should be good for at least a year, so I'm not as stressed as I was the other day. I removed the entire post!

I feel for you russ. I've collected a bit of stuff. Fact of the matter is, I don't have the room in my current place. That's why I need a new place. My credit sucks, so a house is out! I prefer apartments anyway :p My dads collected an obscene amount of stuff. He's a packrat ;) and so am I! For me it's mostly computer gadgetry.
My brother intrigued me recently though. Apparently his house payment counting insurance, isn't much more than I would pay for an apartment. I suspect I won't live in an apartment for more than a year or two. At least in a house, I can do whatever I want with it. It's mine!

Given the job I have, I wouldn't be too worried about altering the house :p Besides, if things work out really well, I'd be able to pay it off really quick.
Technically, you're correct though :p
By the way, the cost of living is substantially lower where I live. Other than fuel prices!!!

I have no intention of starting a debate here, but it does drive me a little mad when people from the US moan about fuel prices. Here at current exchange rates, it's $8.50/$9.00 per US gallon. I was last in the USA in April 2011, and back then at least, fuel prices hadn't even reached half that.
Road tax is fairly high too, at $160-$430 for most vehicles depending on CO2 emissions. Anything less than 120g/km is <$50 or free, and anything above 225g/km is $750 a year.

Wholy (insert word here)! Sam! That's friggin robbery! I'd probably buy a bike at that point! I'm not far off either. I'd probably drive my car over a cliff if I had to pay that much. No, I wouldn't be in the vehicle LOL!

That's one of many reasons I don't drive. I'm not even a license holder. Where I lived at my student accommodation I could walk to the local train station, and then walk from the station at the other end to home, or now, to work. Why should I bother? For all the UK's public transport system is maligned, it's a much more viable option other than in a few odd US cities like New York.

I wonder how long will my upgrade last :D I just bought AMD FX 8120 eight core processor 2.81 GHZ in package wioth the motherboard and 8GB RAM.

Having spent time in Europe for 20 years, and driving a lot, I feel your pain! I don't know what it's like today, but even in the Mid to late 80s, Petrol was expensive, all over Europe. I'd rent a Renault, and drive to my appointments. I don't do Commuter airlines, I don't like being the entertainment! Besides, it's faster to drive most places in Europe, than to go through all the Airport nonsense and car rental/rental returns bit.
By the way, I do apologize for my comments the other day. I just had a very bad day. Any idiot could have figured out your meaning, but this idiot didn't! LOL!! Sorry!

No harm done Russ. Depends where you mean in Europe as for the driving bit. I'd only say that for the western cities like Brussels, Paris, and maybe as far as Berlin. It's still a good 10+ hours to the eastern border of france/germany, and even though the wasted time with flights is quite high, I do entirely appreciate flying for those sorts of distances. It's internal UK commuter flying that I don't understand, and think should be downscaled. Flying the distance you can travel by train in 3 hours seems wholly inappropriate.

You have an 8 core processor. Not many apps support it. I'd say with advancements to software, and to the processor itself, you're good for at least 5 - 10yrs. Depending on your habits. If you game, some serious advancements need to take place regarding that processor. I think the next generation bulldozer will be better. But who knows.
That processor is 3.1Ghz, not 2.8ghz.

There's more to this story than what is said Kev, I have been there 4 times in the last 5 years, yes they are heavily taxed, pay higher gas prices, the country is small, not really much long distance driving to do, most people employed live without descent public transportation distances and can get you most places pretty quick, and don't forget they do not pay or have to worry about health care, if I could pay higher taxes and higher gas prices to get free health care I would still be ahead, even if I paid 10 bucks a gallon and got free health care I would still be ahead, what it costs me in health care for me and family costs way more than high taxes and high gas prices, I would take the latter and day, and if I could not afford health care, with 3 handicapped kids in the house I and family would be broke within a month and out in the streets, what a nice feeling not to have to worry about health care, and last please, do not anybody try to rebuttal me that the UK's healthcare sucks, it doesn't, and that's from personel experiance not somebody's hearsay, their dental plans suck but the rest does just fine.

I work for one of the best companies in the US :p My health care is nearly fully covered, and my dental is 95% covered. Our gas prices suck, and the UK's are simply unbelievable LOL! People will get fed up though, and they'll adapt. It's only a matter of time. The oil companies may be making money now, but wait til they make near nothing, because they scared everybody off LOL!

Your very lucky, I also was once when I was working thru my union, had the best of everything, now after I'm retired it's a different ballgame, here in the US being young and single not that much in harms way, but get sick, make a family , get older or both, keep your fingers crossed.

The NHS system is changing somewhat, as given the country's poor financial state lots of things are being cut back and therefore becoming chargeable, although it's obviously still nowhere near the situation in the US.

I will make the mention that the US has a different type of economy than England. Having personal transportation is a lot more important here. Just to get into town is a half hour walk from my house. I work in the next town over, which is a half hour drive. To visit my girlfriend at her school dorm is another 6 hour drive. So yes the US does get to complain about fuel prices. We depend on it a lot more.
Public transportation is not a viable means of getting around in rural communities, which the US has more of than any other kind. Also, we are certainly not taxed depending on our type of vehicle. My dad's truck has a 5.7L V8 and knocks off maybe 18MPG highway, 12-14 in town. The only amount of cash he's ever paid for that truck was the registration fee and anything he's personally added or replaced. Likewise, my '99 Monte Carlo was purchased under the table, and the only thing I've paid for that's recorded in paperwork is liability insurance and registration.
So complain all you want about us whiney Americans Sam :P But you're the one who taught me to recognize apples-to-oranges. We're getting screwed in other ways. Particularly I don't have health insurance with my current job, so if I were to get sick or injured, I'm absolutely on my own. My dad needed stitches last summer and the hour he spent in the hospital cost $1200. The healthcare thing is a bigger issue than the fuel thing for me, while fuel might be way more important for someone else, like a business owner.

The only thing you need to be careful of is to make sure it's 1.5v RAM. A lot of people have been returning motherboards as defective because they simply put 1.65v RAM in a board rated for 1.5v. Any stock standard DDR3 will do the trick.
Also, you really shouldn't need more than 8GB. 4GB is still enough for most games and applications these days. 8GB is generally considered "the little extra" for gamers and power users.

Yeah not trying to compromise the thread but everyone makes such good points it's hard not to comment :P
Will also mention that you should be going for the best CAS latencies within a given speed of RAM. For CAS latencies, lower = better. My DDR3-1600 has latencies that are very popularly used by DDR-1333, so is higher performance than other sets of DDR3-1600. But seeing your signature, you probably already have a decent grasp of it.

Oh I missed that. He's right. 32 bit OSes can only use up to 4GB of memory total for the entire system including video memory. With 8GB of RAM and a GTX295, the system would likely only see about 2GB of RAM. The practical difference between 64 bit and 32 bit is the amount of memory they support.
